Chapter 3: Ideal vs. Reality
Standing in front of the mirror, I see the figure of Ballad.
With blonde hair and blue eyes,
Chubby, or maybe even fat.
My stomach is quite protruding.
I remember my nickname at the academy was
“Pig Noble” and “Failed Orc” whispered behind my back.
At this point, even if I wanted to exercise or practice magic to lose weight, it felt pointless since I’m going to die in three years anyway.
But after spending a night with Iris, it ended way too quickly.
Was it because I lacked stamina, or was I just premature?
The Ballad I drew in my d*ujinshi was a p*rvert master with infinite stamina.
But reality is harsh.
Leaning on the status of being part of the Duke’s Household,
I hadn’t really studied or exercised at all.
The cost of that is now rearing its ugly head.
Well, I suppose I should do some exercise to build up my stamina.
Let’s start with some basic running.
The Duke’s Mansion has a perimeter of about 2 kilometers, so I’ll give it a shot.
However, before I could even finish half a lap, I was drenched in sweat, gasping for air, my heart pounding like it was about to burst, and I decided to stop, hunched over on the spot.
“Gah, running is impossible… I guess I’ll just start walking every day.”
I learned the harshness of the gap between ideals and reality.
“Walking alone might not be enough exercise…
Given Ballad’s current stamina, swordsmanship and martial arts might be out of my reach.
I wasn’t exactly athletic in my previous life either.
What exercises could I even do then?”
During my school days, I enjoyed my geeky life in the manga club.
I only really exercised in P.E. class.
“Oh! That’s right! I once got a perfect attendance award during summer break for doing radio taiso, and I received a pencil and notebook for it. I could probably manage radio taiso!”
So, walking and radio taiso became my daily routine.
From a distance, the maid Rose was watching.
“First, he seemed to run, then started walking, and now it looks like he’s doing some kind of weird dance. What a fool, I just don’t get it.”
It’s only been two days since my reincarnation, with 1,079 days left until my supposed death date.
