Chapter 26: Rosen of the Commercial Guild
The day after the “Grassland Wind” incident, while I was grappling with documents in my office, a visitor arrived.
“The Guild Master of the Commercial Guild wants to see you. What should we do?”
“I just finished up a bit. Show them to the reception room and have them wait.”
After instructing Iris as such, I sipped some tea and took a breather.
I wondered what the Guild Master of the Commercial Guild was doing here at this hour.
The Guild Master wasn’t affiliated with the Midakudo Trading Company, so I let it be for now.
Still, the assassin adventurer, “Grassland Wind”, was supposed to be connected with Midakudo behind the scenes.
Since that failed, were they putting pressure on the Commercial Guild to make some kind of move?
I thought about it a lot, but nothing seemed to come together.
In times like this, it’s quicker to just meet them directly.
I got up and headed to the reception room.
Inside the reception room, a well-dressed man in a fine blue outfit was waiting, standing tall.
I quickly appraised him.
So, a former noble merchant, huh? Seems like he’s quite the capable one.
“Lord Ballad, it’s an honor to meet you. I am Rosen, the Guild Master of the Commercial Guild.”
“No need for the formalities. Let’s hear the reason you came today. Please, have a seat.”
After a moment of surprise, he promptly sat down and began to discuss his business.
“I was able to contact the Eastern merchant you requested, and they should arrive in about two days. Additionally, I’ve gathered various rare items at your behest, and you can view them directly here or at the Commercial Guild.”
Right, the Eastern merchant was the one dealing in miso and soy sauce. I had requested them because I was also looking for curry ingredients and rice.
“Understood. Have them brought directly to the mansion. I want to check them with Chef Hunt.”
“Thank you. As for pressure from the Midakudo Trading Company, there haven’t been any incidents so far.”
The Guild Master Rosen answered calmly.
Seems like he wasn’t lying about that.
“Got it. Before you head back, feel free to have some tea and snacks.”
Saying that, I left the reception room and headed to the workshop behind the mansion.
To my surprise, Grot was waiting right at the entrance of the workshop.
“Master! Please show me the magic car!”
Days until my scheduled death: 1,049 days.
