Chapter 23: Adventurer Party “Grassland Wind”
While I was interviewing a dwarf who would become the new gardener…
An adventurer party appeared at the Ronma Adventurers’ Guild.
The A Rank adventurer party “Grassland Wind.”
Until now, there had only been B Class adventurer parties at the Ronma Adventurers’ Guild.
Marie at the reception went to report to the Guild Master.
“Grassland Wind, huh! We’ve got a troublesome bunch here!” (Guild Master)
As soon as she reported, the Guild Master raised his voice, leaving Marie puzzled.
“Aren’t you happy that A Class adventurers are coming? Why are you so angry?”
“Though their name sounds nice, Grassland Wind is a party with a lot of dark rumors surrounding them. Whenever they go into a dungeon, adventurer parties come back missing. There are rumors they hunt adventurers inside the dungeon.”
“W-What? Does that mean the adventurers in Ronma are in danger?”
“Yup. But we have no evidence, so we can’t do anything. There was a high-rank party that tried to investigate Grassland Wind before, but even they disappeared without a trace. They probably got eliminated. All we can do is cautiously warn the adventurers to be careful.”
Meanwhile, four men were chatting while drinking ale in the adventurers’ guild dining hall.
They were members of “Grassland Wind.”
“It seems our target dives into the dungeon every other day.”
“What about today? How many are diving?”
“Today is actually a no-show day. They’re diving with five people: four maids and the target.”
“Five noble boys with maids—sounds like an easy job.”
“No, one of the maids is Rose, a former A Rank adventurer, and she’s covered in blood.”
“If that’s the case, we could lure them to another place and split them up. Even with just one former A Rank, it should be easy if we have four current A Rank adventurers on our side. The leftover nobles and maid trio can be handled however.”
“The target usually dives several layers down. It’s easier past layer ten since there are fewer adventurers down there.”
“Rumor has it they dive around layer fifteen. Apparently, they’ve conquered the dungeon as well.”
“Alright, then let’s dive to layer twenty today and gather data on the Ronma Dungeon to see which layers are easiest to deal with.”
***
The dwarf that Gant brought in, who wished to become a gardener, was named Grot.
He was a former magical tool craftsman who attempted to reproduce a magic car at the royal capital’s workshop but ended up failing and had to close the workshop.
When he heard that I created a magic car, he insisted on working here no matter what.
He wanted to learn the design of magic cars while doing gardening work.
When I checked his title through appraisal, it said, [A Man Enchanted by Magical Tools], and since he didn’t seem to have any ties to the Midakudo Trading Company, he was hired.
“Thank you, Master!”
For some reason, Grot insisted on calling me Master. I told him to just call me Lord or Sir, but he replied, “No, I want to call you Master,” and wouldn’t listen. I figured I’d give up on changing how he would address me as dwarves are quite stubborn.
There are 1051 days left until my scheduled death.
