Chapter 107: Treatment Plan
In the evening, Zhong Jing finally arrived at Shengci Hospital. Under Su Xiaomeng’s personal guidance, he went straight to the top floor of the intensive care unit.
“Zhong Jing, why did you come here? Where’s your Japanese wife?”
Jiang Yao, who was on duty in the corridor, was about to plug her phone into a power bank when she saw the familiar young man striding towards her with Su Xiaomeng by his side.
“Hehe, he’s full of energy; he definitely wants to spend time with you!”
Su Xiaomeng teased, and as she spoke, Jiang Yao’s lips twisted awkwardly, showing a hint of indescribable embarrassment and anger.
Zhong Jing didn’t mind. He shrugged his shoulders and focused his gaze on the electric airtight protective door of the intensive care unit.
“Can we just walk in?” He glanced at Su Xiaomeng and pointed at the thick door, “Do I need to wear a standard sterile suit?”
“Except for a very few diseases, as long as the immune function isn’t completely collapsed, the bodies of the bloodlines are basically immune to toxins. You can go in; I’ll check on Sister Dong first.”
Su Xiaomeng slid her card past the door, and with the sound of the motor, the airtight door slowly slid open.
Inside the room, there were nurses sitting on either side of the bed. When they saw Zhong Jing and Jiang Yao enter, they merely raised their heads and exchanged glances before promptly standing up and exiting.
Zhong Jing was oblivious to this or too busy to care, but in Jiang Yao’s perception, the two nurses were clearly members of the Wang family’s female attendants.
“I saw the news; the official explanation is that a warehouse dust explosion ignited a large amount of improperly stored fertilizer. The force is about equivalent to a powerful bomb; it’s really exaggerated… Even Brother Zheng managed to withstand it!”
Looking at the burly man on the bed, who was bandaged all over and sleeping, Zhong Jing couldn’t help but express his emotions.
“What withstand? I estimate that if we got any closer, he would be shattered beyond recovery.”
Jiang Yao rolled her eyes, standing next to Zhong Jing while sighing repeatedly, “Brother Zheng is quite unlucky; he took a blade for Sister Xiaoping…”
“That’s just a black box; anything could happen. It’s not necessarily that your sister is smarter; she’s just more cautious. What if it had been Master commanding at that time, and sent you all in?”
Zhong Jing sat at the bedside, shaking his head helplessly. His expression turned serious, and his words became considerably less frivolous: “I’m not trying to argue with you… As far as I know, the money and favors from the Wang family are never easy to earn or repay. I’ve experienced what Master and Hyacinth fought for with their lives years ago.”
“If Brother Zheng and his team hadn’t been seriously injured, or if two people had died, this would be considered light… Before you all came, how many years was it that Hyacinth didn’t lose one or two people?”
Hearing this, Jiang Yao’s face turned slightly red, and her voice dropped: “I… I never said it was all Sister Xiaoping’s fault; at least it should’ve been a good time to stop. I just never understood why she was so impulsive… It’s a pity for Brother Zheng… he treats her quite well; last time at the Hyacinth Villa, he even gave me a long dagger.”
As she spoke, Jiang Yao patted her thigh under her skirt.
Seeing her like this, Zhong Jing smiled: “Yeah, when I was young, Brother Zheng taught me military boxing, hit me, and praised me, saying I’d grown up to be very handsome!”
Seeing him boasting so shamelessly again, Jiang Yao rolled her eyes once more, her lips twitching: “Hmph, Brother Zheng was kind-hearted back then; he didn’t beat you to death, that scumbag…”
“Beat me to death?”
The door opened, and Lao Jin and Su Xiaomeng walked in again, looking particularly anxious.
“Uh… that’s not what we were talking about!” Jiang Yao quickly shook her head and waved her hands.
“Mr. Jin, you called before about Brother Zheng’s injuries; do you need me to come by?”
Zhong Jing quickly stood up, putting away his smile and assuming a rare serious demeanor.
“Yes, Zheng Shaolin is in serious trouble. I’ve used all the other medication I could, and he has undergone two surgeries, but he is now showing signs of multiple organ failure and necrosis; his hematopoietic and immune functions are beginning to deteriorate… Come over here, I’ll tell you my treatment plan!”
Lao Jin put an arm around Zhong Jing’s shoulder, pulling him aside, likely discussing sensitive topics he didn’t want others to overhear.
“How mysterious? Do we need to find Zhong Jing alone for something he can handle?”
Watching the two men whispering in the corner, Jiang Yao felt puzzled.
“When it comes to healing and saving lives, my grandfather wouldn’t joke around. I speculate that maybe some special medications are needed, and they’re produced by Zhong Pharmaceuticals…”
Su Xiaomeng affectionately wrapped her arm around Jiang Yao’s, inevitably causing a collision.
“Since it’s made by his family, what’s there to be afraid of? The young master of the Zhong family should be able to get a few boxes!”
Jiang Yao looked at Zhong Jing’s back with suspicion, still not quite understanding.
“Idiot! I see you’re all body and no brain; you really wouldn’t know the nature of Zhong Pharmaceuticals in this country, would you?”
“Some things are very special. On the surface, they are clinical medications for normal patients, but the bloodline can use them too! This type of medication, from raw materials to finished products, is highly regulated by the state; each batch, each box, goes into a clandestine monitoring system database… For all we know, there could already be plainclothes around the production base!”
Su Xiaomeng poked Jiang Yao’s face and prodded her chest, deliberately showing a look of disdain.
I’m body and no brain… Jiang Yao looked down at herself, then secretly glanced at Su Xiaomeng’s chest, suddenly feeling embarrassed with her face burning.
“Yeah, I’m not afraid of you being an academic bully; I’m just afraid your chest is even bigger. You win, I guess.”
After a moment, Jiang Yao grinned and muttered.
……
An hour later, Zhong Jing arrived at the parking lot of Shengci Hospital, wearing a peculiar expression as he got into the car.
In the passenger seat, He Jian Qīngyá was waiting quietly, as dignified as ever.
“Jing-kun, done visiting? Is Jiang Yao up there too?”
With a ragdoll cat sleeping on her lap and one hand stroking its back, a warm smile graced her face.
“I didn’t come to see her… how do I put it, I need a semi-finished pharmaceutical raw material, RMC E, to produce Yiwende.”
Zhong Jing didn’t start the car but instead rolled down the window, lighting a cigarette with a serious expression: “Yiwende is a special drug for treating blood tumors; it can also serve as an anti-blood immune agent. The state strictly controls it, so RMC E is also sensitive material.”
“I estimate that every unit stored in the production base warehouse has been recorded from customs onward.”
He Jian Qīngyá froze for a moment, her smile gradually fading as her brow furrowed: “I know, that’s produced by the Jianyue Pharmaceuticals under the Hejian Group, in collaboration with the James family’s BTO Pharmaceuticals in North America. The Yiwende production line at Zhong Pharmaceuticals can only operate if RMCE is imported; there are no formulas or production processes in Huaguo for it.”
“Not just Yiwende; look at how you all have managed to help others while creating things that are so considerate, successfully tying this world together.”
Zhong Jing blew out a smoke ring with a sarcastic look: “It’s all built on the disgusting leverage of life… Making money off the lives of your own kind, quite a sense of achievement, isn’t it?”
“Actually, I’m quite curious about what the production workshop of Jianyue Pharmaceuticals in Japan looks like… I’ve heard that every year, bloodline organ trafficking from Africa and India gets smuggled into Japan.”
As that statement fell, the cabin instantly fell into eerie silence.
The ragdoll cat woke up, stretching its front paws, arching its back, and yawning wide, sticking out its pink tongue, letting out a lazy mew.
Caressing the cat’s head, He Jian Qīngyá pressed her lips together, and after several seconds, she softly said, “Medicine itself is neither good nor evil, and there are many human tissue preparations; clinically used immunoglobulin and human placenta used in cosmetics, aren’t they all like that… Jing-kun, you have a bias against us—the underground trafficking of human organs in the world of normies is not brutal?”
Zhong Jing paused with his cigarette, snorted coldly a few times, and his tone became even lighter: “Heh, are you trying to tell me that this is a world of rotten comparisons, using your sixty to seventy years of experience?”
“Leukemia patients can buy Yiwende in formal hospitals, but Brother Zheng can’t get his own half-life; Miss He Jian, do you think this world is fair…?”
After speaking, Zhong Jing tossed the cigarette aside, resting his hands on the steering wheel, staring blankly out the window, his expression gradually becoming lost.
Seeing the somewhat lonely expression on the young man beside her, He Jian Qīngyá seemed to have made a decision, biting her lip and lowering her voice: “Jing-kun, do you need my help? I can arrange for someone to bring some things in from Japan…”
Just as he was about to nod, he hesitated, instinctively closing his eyes: “You’re afraid of people knowing you might be bending your elbow outwards, right… I just don’t believe your family doesn’t have a grasp on such sensitive pharmaceutical materials.”
“You’re acting like a lovesick fool again… Remember, don’t do anything silly just to please me… Ah, I’m most afraid of owing women favors.”
Zhong Jing smiled wryly, shook his head, and then started the car.
Is Jing-kun thinking of me? He’s so kind… In that moment, a bit of sweetness inexplicably fluttered in He Jian Qīngyá’s heart.
……
It was late at night. After finishing dinner outside, Zhong Jing brought He Jian Qīngyá directly back to the Zhong family villa.
The illness of the eldest son, Meng Huai, continued to be shrouded in various excuses to maintain confidentiality. For over half a month, Zhong Hai’s emotions fluctuated between silence and sadness. Today, the expression of his second son returning home further fueled his anxiety.
Especially seeing He Jian Qīngyá accompanying Zhong Jing, that seemingly genuine yet possibly fake happy expression made Zhong Hai’s heart feel even worse.
“Dad, let’s go to the study; I need to discuss something!”
After chatting about some trivial matters and accompanying Zhong Hai for the last cup of tea, Zhong Jing suddenly stood up as if resolved to something.
Seeing his second son’s suddenly serious face, Zhong Hai’s heart skipped a beat, as if he had a premonition of something. He merely nodded slightly and walked toward the personal study on the first floor.
“Qingyá, those two men, father and son, are both men of great ambition. In the future, you must be understanding, but don’t indulge in their bad habits.”
Zhong Ma was tidying up the teacups nearby, giving some unnutritious advice to her future daughter-in-law.
“Hi… I understand, thank you for your guidance, Auntie.”
Watching the father and son of the Zhong family disappear into the study, He Jian Qīngyá pondered for a moment, then put down the ragdoll cat and stepped up to the second floor.
She tightly closed the door, heading straight to the balcony. Sitting in her familiar spot, she stared at the night sky outside, releasing a faint pheromone wave.
Seconds later, a shadow flashed and landed in front of He Jian Qīngyá. Bai Yu Qianzhen, dressed in black, knelt on one leg, bowing her head in wait.
“Bai Yu-kun, you need to go back to Japan immediately and bring back what’s written on this paper as quickly as possible…”
As she spoke, He Jian Qīngyá handed over a piece of paper: “Remember, no one can know!”
“Hi, I’ll take care of it right away!”
Bai Yu Qianzhen touched it with both hands, but after just one glance, she regretted her previous response and lowered her voice: “Miss, this is a family strictly controlled material; I’m afraid it will cause…”
“You are my personal retainer; you only need to execute my orders!”
He Jian Qīngyá felt annoyed, directly interrupting Bai Yu Qianzhen’s counsel. She stood in front of her, lowering her head to stare at her brain.
“Hi… I understand!”
As she spoke, Bai Yu Qianzhen intended to leave, but He Jian Qīngyá’s hand suddenly tapped the top of her head at that moment.
“By the way, what’s the situation with my uncle? I’ve noticed that the people he left in C City are basically gone…”
“Hi, Lord Juyama has received instructions from the family and personally went to southern Huaguo, probably preparing to secretly intervene in the internal strife of the Liang family in Huaguo…”
Bai Yu Qianzhen quickly lowered her head again.
“In the coming days, I must stay at school. Before you go back to Japan, gather all of my people and protect the Zhong family 24/7. Furthermore, inform Uncle Juyama that the senior officials in Huaguo have begun to pay attention to the movements of overseas funds; it seems they have hit the Wang family’s bottom line, and some market operations of the family need to be slowed down.”
“Hi!”
Bai Yu Qianzhen disappeared, and He Jian Qīngyá felt a thin layer of sweat on her back. This was perhaps the most dangerous instruction she had given since becoming sensible.
“Am I really preparing to fall sincerely in love with him… but what if he still doesn’t love me… I’m not Mi Xiang-jie, and Zhong Jing isn’t Zhong Hai.”
With a mess of thoughts, He Jian Qīngyá planned to head to the kitchen to make some soup for Zhong Jing.
……
It was already past midnight, and He Jian Qīngyá’s bowl of pigeon soup had been reheated several times, but the door to Zhong Hai’s study remained closed, and she could faintly hear Zhong Hai’s scolding voice.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Zhong Jing stepped out with a strange expression, while Zhong Hai behind him visibly bore signs of lingering anger and fear.
“I warn you, do not get involved in matters that do not concern you. Don’t stir up trouble, and do not inquire. Don’t even think about having any ill intentions!”
Zhong Hai’s voice echoed in the spacious living room on the first floor, sounding hoarse and somewhat eerie.
Zhong Jing tilted his head slightly, watching his father walk towards the bedroom without providing any response, only a cold smile appeared at the corners of his lips.
“Jing-kun… drink some soup.”
He Jian Qīngyá bowed slightly to Zhong Hai’s departing back and quickly approached Zhong Jing, holding the bowl of soup.
“I don’t want it; I’m fine… You should go get some rest.”
Zhong Jing casually said this and turned to head upstairs, leaving He Jian Qīngyá standing there, holding the bowl of soup, dazed.
Entering his study, locking the door, Zhong Jing hurried to his computer.
He entered the account for the group’s back-end, opening the non-confidential public database of the group.
Selecting the logistics central platform, he accessed the group’s engineering construction management project, finally locating the construction electronic drawings for the Zhong Pharmaceuticals Group’s production base in the S district of city C, searching and opening the plans for the production base.
Zhong Jing’s gaze scanned through the electronic drawings, looking for the location of the raw material warehouse.
If you don’t give it, I’ll steal it!
This was Zhong Jing’s only thought now, unrelated to reason or madness.
