Chapter 30: The Leap
Since Chengan Xiang had called, Jingxian Xiang had been worried something would happen to Yeyun Ye. Therefore, she had people tailing Yeyun Ye.
When she saw Yeyun Ye emerge alone, Jingxian Xiang knew her opportunity had arrived. She had even hired several formidable bodyguards for emergencies, never expecting she’d actually find something.
Upon hearing the commotion, Yeyun Ye turned to see Jingxian Xiang and quickly pulled out the videotape.
“Good sister, we meet again,” Jingxian Xiang cooed, approaching Yeyun Ye with the burly men behind her stepping forward. “I really didn’t expect you to be so lively and well. It’s quite a surprise.”
Not only that, but the cassette tape was still on her.
Yeyun Ye pursed her lips, surveying her surroundings. She understood that confronting Jingxian Xiang and her bodyguards head-on would mean certain defeat. It would be better to escape as quickly as possible.
“I’m surprised to see you here too,” she said. Yeyun Ye had been so focused on evading surveillance that she’d forgotten about the possibility of being followed. “You weren’t actually unconscious, were you? You were just afraid Shuang Lin would say something detrimental to you, weren’t you?”
As she spoke, Yeyun Ye subtly moved towards the window.
Jingxian Xiang noticed Yeyun Ye’s movement, assuming she was trying to escape again. She sneered, “Do you really think you can get away today?”
Ignoring Yeyun Ye’s question, Jingxian Xiang watched her with a mocking expression. In that moment, she felt that even if she killed Yeyun Ye tonight, no one would ever know.
As soon as Jingxian Xiang finished speaking, the burly men surrounded Yeyun Ye. Only Jingxian Xiang stood opposite her. Yeyun Ye pursed her lips, sensing the gravity of the situation.
“Hand over the videotape obediently, and I’ll be a little gentler with you. After all, we’re sisters, aren’t we?”
The hypocrisy on Jingxian Xiang’s face was plain as she spoke.
Yeyun Ye knew that even if she gave Jingxian Xiang the videotape, she wouldn’t fare any better today. She made up her mind.
“If you want the videotape, I can give it to you. I’ve already finished watching it anyway,” Yeyun Ye said, walking towards Jingxian Xiang.
Jingxian Xiang hadn’t expected Yeyun Ye to give in so quickly. Something felt off. Before she could react, Yeyun Ye shoved her hard and sprinted away.
Seeing that she had been tricked by Yeyun Ye, Jingxian Xiang furiously shouted, “You lot, hurry up and catch her!”
Yeyun Ye had intended to run downstairs, but she found people waiting below. Without thinking, she could only run further upstairs.
Soon, Yeyun Ye found herself with nowhere left to go.
Jingxian Xiang watched Yeyun Ye, approaching step by step. “Run. Why aren’t you running anymore?”
Yeyun Ye’s back was pressed against the wall. She was on the fourth floor, and looking down, she knew for certain that falling would be fatal.
“Jingxian Xiang, you…” Before she could finish her sentence, Yuexiang Yang’s voice rang out.
“Mr. Chi, Miss Xiang and Miss Ye are on the top floor!”
Yeyun Ye looked over and saw Yuexiang Yang not far away.
For a moment, Yeyun Ye didn’t grasp what was happening. In that fleeting moment of distraction, Jingxian Xiang quickly reacted, signaling her bodyguards to leave.
Then, she swiftly swapped positions with Yeyun Ye.
Without giving Yeyun Ye any chance to resist, Jingxian Xiang grabbed Yeyun Ye’s hand and pushed herself, feigning fear.
“Sister, why can’t you just accept that Xiu Qi and I are meant to be? Xiu Qi and I are truly in love. Even if you kill me today, I won’t give Xiu Qi to you!”
Yuexiang Yang, sensing the situation was dire, immediately called the fire department and reported the situation to Xiuqi Chi again.
“What are you doing!” Yeyun Ye was startled by Jingxian Xiang’s actions. She tried to pull her hand away, but Jingxian Xiang was too strong. “If you keep this up, you’ll actually fall!”
Yeyun Ye didn’t want another life on her hands, especially after having already lost her child—
Jingxian Xiang had noticed the emergency cushion being set up behind them. She looked at Xiuqi Chi’s figure on the stairs and whispered in Yeyun Ye’s ear, “Look, I will win. No matter what it takes.”
With that, Jingxian Xiang steeled herself and, using Yeyun Ye’s hand, threw herself off the building.
“Jingxian!”
Xiuqi Chi, upon arriving, saw Yeyun Ye pushing Jingxian Xiang. Panicked, he rushed over, shoved Yeyun Ye aside, and looked down at Jingxian Xiang’s condition. Seeing that she had already been taken away by the ambulance, he slowly let out a sigh of relief.
Yeyun Ye was stunned that Jingxian Xiang could do such a thing. She was terrified, and with Xiuqi Chi’s push, her legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground.
“Yeyun Ye, you better pray she doesn’t have any long-term injuries from this, or I will make you suffer unimaginable pain for the rest of your life!” Xiuqi Chi said fiercely.
Shuang Lin, who had arrived in a hurry, heard Xiuqi Chi’s words. She quickly pushed Yuexiang Yang aside and went to Yeyun Ye’s side, pulling her up.
“Can’t you see she’s already terrified too? Why is it automatically Yeyun Ye’s fault just because Jingxian Xiang fell?”
After speaking, Shuang Lin prepared to take Yeyun Ye away.
However, the bodyguards brought by Xiuqi Chi blocked both of them.
“For your father’s sake, I will let this matter pass today. But if you insist on taking her, I’m afraid things will get unpleasant,” Xiuqi Chi said coldly.
Shuang Lin was not easily intimidated. She snorted, “I don’t believe you’d actually lay a hand on me!”
Despite her words, Shuang Lin still intended to take Yeyun Ye away. She knew very well that Yeyun Ye absolutely could not be taken by Xiuqi Chi, or he would surely torment her to death.
Seeing Shuang Lin’s resolve, Xiuqi Chi exchanged a look with Yuexiang Yang. “Do it.”
“Excuse me,” Yuexiang Yang said to Shuang Lin and Yeyun Ye.
Before Shuang Lin could say anything, Yuexiang Yang used brute force to pull Yeyun Ye over. Yeyun Ye, already shaken, fainted from exhaustion after the struggle.
Xiuqi Chi looked at the still-stunned Shuang Lin, took Yeyun Ye into his arms, and said, “If you continue to interfere in matters between Ye Yun and me, I will make sure you remain abroad.”
After taking a few steps, Xiuqi Chi looked at Shuang Lin’s attempt to resist and said coldly, “Think about your father. It wouldn’t be good if because of you, he were to experience the ruin of his family.”
With that, Xiuqi Chi left without paying any further attention to Shuang Lin’s reaction.
