Chapter 28: Going to the Lin Residence to Find Someone
Hearing Xiuqi Chi’s words, Jingxian Xiang subconsciously tensed up.
“I just want to see Yeyun…” Jingxian Xiang lowered her head, seemingly weeping silently. “I don’t understand why they always think I have ill intentions towards Yeyun, but no matter what I say, I am Yeyun’s older sister. How could I possibly treat her badly?” As she spoke, Jingxian Xiang raised her eyes, her eyes red, holding back tears with all her might.
“I didn’t expect to meet Shuang Lin. She always had ill intentions towards me before, and now she’s blaming me for everything. I feel terrible, Xiuqi. Am I really doing something wrong?”
Jingxian Xiang’s appearance was as tearful as ever.
Seeing Jingxian Xiang’s state, Xiuqi Chi lost the urge to comfort her. After a long silence, he walked over and gently pulled up her blanket. “Rest well.”
After speaking, Xiuqi Chi gave a few instructions and then left.
Lying on the hospital bed, Jingxian Xiang was suddenly filled with panic. Xiuqi Chi had never been so indifferent to her before.
The ringing of her phone interrupted Jingxian Xiang’s chaotic thoughts. Seeing the caller ID, Jingxian Xiang gradually calmed down.
“Dad? What’s wrong?”
Chengan Xiang’s tone was impatient and angry. “Didn’t I ask you to find the video tapes? Why is there no news after so long? If those things aren’t found, you’ll disappear with them!”
Jingxian Xiang’s whole body turned cold. She knew Chengan Xiang was absolutely not joking. Gritting her teeth, she said, “I understand.”
Meanwhile, Shuang Lin had brought Yeyun to a villa in the suburbs. She had just bought it today, and the surrounding area was still under renovation with simple furnishings.
“Yeyun, you’ll live with me from now on. No one will dare to bother you.” Shuang Lin pulled Yeyun into the bedroom.
“Do you remember? We used to lie on a small wooden board bed, and I was always so cold…”
Feng Ye was a good person, but the welfare home was severely underfunded. Apart from providing orphans with a place to stay, there was very little else they could do.
Shuang Lin was only two years old when she arrived at the welfare home. Young girls were easily bullied everywhere.
Shuang Lin never cried or made a fuss when she was bullied. She would just stubbornly protect her food, even if it was eventually taken away. It was during these times that Yeyun appeared.
Yeyun was only three years old then. The small figure protected herself. She didn’t seem intimidating, but she had a commanding presence when she spoke.
Later, Shuang Lin often followed Yeyun. When she was young, Shuang Lin was often ill, and Yeyun took care of her tirelessly. Otherwise, Shuang Lin felt she would not have survived until now.
However, Shuang Lin was soon adopted.
This villa was also chosen by Shuang Lin’s adoptive father.
“Uncle Lin treats you very well. I’m very happy,” Yeyun said, smiling faintly at Shuang Lin. “I heard you went abroad to study. Are you planning to return to work now?”
“Yes,” Shuang Lin said, already brewing a cup of coffee and handing it to Yeyun. “It just so happens that Xiuqi Chi is my rival. I’m sure I can win against all his designers.”
Yeyun smiled slightly upon hearing this, rubbed Shuang Lin’s head, and said in a gentle tone, “Just do your best, that’s all.”
She didn’t want Shuang Lin to offend Xiuqi Chi because of her.
But in Shuang Lin’s eyes, she should protect Yeyun.
As Shuang Lin and Yeyun chatted, Yeyun’s mood gradually improved. Just as Shuang Lin was preparing to take Yeyun out for dinner, Yecheng Lin’s call came through.
After ending the call, Shuang Lin told Yeyun, “I need to go to the old house. My dad is asking for me. Yeyun, come with me. It’s a good chance for my dad to meet you.”
Upon arriving at the Lin family’s old residence, Shuang Lin settled Yeyun down before heading to the study. To her surprise, she found someone else in the study.
“What are you doing here?” Shuang Lin looked at Xiuqi Chi with hostility, suddenly worried about why Yecheng Lin had asked her to come.
“Miss Lin should know my intentions.”
Facing Shuang Lin’s questioning, Xiuqi Chi showed little reaction.
Shuang Lin scoffed upon hearing this. “Don’t tell me you’re here to find Yeyun.”
This man already had Jingxian Xiang, yet he still acted as if he cared about Yeyun.
It was truly disgusting.
“Shuang Lin, how are you speaking to Mr. Chi?” Yecheng Lin looked at her displeasedly, then apologized to Xiuqi Chi, “This child is usually spoiled by me. I hope Mr. Chi won’t take it to heart.”
Xiuqi Chi shook his head and said, “Miss Lin, don’t be so surprised. Yeyun is my wife. I’m just here to take her home.” He said this nonchalantly.
However, Yecheng Lin in the study felt that Xiuqi Chi was already starting to apply pressure.
Yecheng Lin was also surprised by Xiuqi Chi’s personal visit to find Yeyun today. He had heard rumors that Xiuqi Chi and Yeyun’s relationship was supposed to be poor.
With this in mind, Yecheng Lin gave Shuang Lin a meaningful look, signaling her to act strategically and not impulsively.
But how could Shuang Lin pay attention to Yecheng Lin’s warning now? She found Xiuqi Chi’s words utterly ridiculous.
“I say, can’t you men have some shame? You’re divorced. What kind of wife is she?”
Hearing Shuang Lin’s words, Xiuqi Chi cared even less. He smiled, but it didn’t look like a genuine smile.
“She’s just throwing a tantrum. We haven’t even finalized the divorce. How is she not my wife?”
“What do you mean by that!” Shuang Lin felt that Xiuqi Chi’s words had refreshed her understanding of shamelessness. “You’re just taking advantage of the fact that Yeyun likes you! I’m telling you! She doesn’t like you anymore! From now on, you go your separate ways, and stay out of each other’s lives! You just stay with your ‘white lotus’!”
Xiuqi Chi let out a cold laugh upon hearing this. He ignored Shuang Lin’s words and turned to Yecheng Lin. “I recall there are still collaborations with the Lin Corporation. I hope Mr. Lin doesn’t make things too unpleasant.”
After speaking, Xiuqi Chi opened the study door.
In front of him was the retreating figure of a woman fleeing.
Xiuqi Chi recognized the back as Yeyun’s at a glance.
She had heard everything?
Xiuqi Chi frowned slightly. He wanted to chase after her but suddenly remembered something and ultimately stopped.
Shuang Lin was lectured by Yecheng Lin in the study for nearly half an hour. Worried that Yeyun had been waiting too long, Shuang Lin hurried to the living room, but Yeyun was nowhere to be seen.
