Chapter 27: Kidnapping
“What do you want?”
Xiuqi Chi had finally managed to wrap up his work matters early today. He hadn’t expected to find an uninvited guest upon arriving at the villa.
Seeing the mess in the living room, Xiuqi Chi was slightly annoyed.
Upon seeing Xiuqi Chi, Jingxian Xiang immediately burst into tears and complained, “Xiuqi, look at what she’s done to me!”
As she spoke, Jingxian Xiang showed Xiuqi Chi her injuries.
Before Xiuqi Chi could say anything, Shuang Lin spat, “Your injuries will probably heal quickly, so what are you crying about! You only know how to play damsel in distress in front of men!”
Hearing Shuang Lin’s arrogant tone, Jingxian Xiang’s hatred intensified, all directed at Yeyun Ye.
The commotion downstairs was too loud. As soon as Yeyun Ye came out of her room, she saw Shuang Lin and Jingxian Xiang locked in a standoff.
Seeing Yeyun Ye appear, Jingxian Xiang put on an even more pitiful act: “Yeyun, I came to see you because I was worried about your health. How could you gang up with an outsider to bully me!”
Jingxian Xiang’s accusation was perfectly executed, as if she had suffered an unbearable injustice.
Upon seeing Yeyun Ye, Shuang Lin looked her over with concern, noticing her pale face. The thought of how much Yeyun Ye had suffered in her absence only fueled Shuang Lin’s resolve to make Jingxian Xiang suffer.
In front of Xiuqi Chi, Shuang Lin was fearless. She directly grabbed Jingxian Xiang’s hair and said, “If you truly considered Yeyun a sister, you wouldn’t have done those monstrous things!”
Shuang Lin had already investigated Yeyun Ye’s entire ordeal in China since her return.
Although she couldn’t find direct evidence proving Jingxian Xiang was responsible, Shuang Lin was certain that Jingxian Xiang was the mastermind behind it all.
Jingxian Xiang gritted her teeth and looked at Xiuqi Chi with tears streaming down her face, “Xiuqi, quickly save me, she’s gone mad…”
“Xiuqi Chi, how long are you going to keep this snake-hearted woman by your side? You blind fool!”
If it weren’t for considering Xiuqi Chi’s status and the potential negative repercussions of her actions, Shuang Lin would have attacked him directly today.
“Miss Lin, you’ve trespassed into my home. I can have the police escort you out.” Unlike before, Xiuqi Chi didn’t seem overly concerned about Jingxian Xiang’s situation. “Now, please let go of Jingxian, and I can let this go.”
Scoffing at Xiuqi Chi’s arrogant words, Shuang Lin retorted, “Then what about your confinement of Yeyun? If this goes to the police station, do you think your problem is bigger or mine is?”
Before Xiuqi Chi could reply, Shuang Lin’s gaze fell on Jingxian Xiang again, and she taunted, “Do you really think your shady dealings abroad will disappear just because the Xiang Family handles them? There’s no secret that can be kept forever. You’ll be finished sooner or later!”
After speaking, Shuang Lin threw Jingxian Xiang away from her.
Jingxian Xiang cursed Shuang Lin fiercely in her heart, then promptly fell to the ground and pretended to faint.
Xiuqi Chi’s calm expression finally broke at Shuang Lin’s unexpected move. He rushed over and scooped Jingxian Xiang into his arms.
“Miss Lin, I will have a word with your father about your actions at the Chi residence today.”
Xiuqi Chi’s voice had turned completely cold. He then looked up at Yeyun Ye, who had been standing silently on the stairs, and paused for a moment.
It had only been a few days since he last saw her, but she looked even thinner than before.
Xiuqi Chi frowned and instructed someone beside him, “Keep an eye on Yeyun Ye and get her something to eat. Don’t let anyone think I’ve been mistreating her.”
After Xiuqi Chi left with Jingxian Xiang, Shuang Lin strode over to Yeyun Ye’s side. Seeing the marks of injury all over Yeyun Ye, she felt immense heartache.
“I told you Xiuqi Chi is a scumbag! Why did you insist on tying yourself to him back then! Look at you now!”
Shuang Lin looked at her good friend with frustration and disappointment, her eyes slowly turning red.
When they were children in the orphanage, Shuang Lin was small and often bullied. It was Yeyun Ye who stepped in and protected her.
Seeing Yeyun Ye in this state now made Shuang Lin’s heart ache.
After speaking, Shuang Lin noticed Yeyun Ye hadn’t said a word. She pursed her lips and then gave Yeyun Ye a long-awaited hug.
“Yeyun, it’s okay now. It was my fault for not stopping you properly. Now that I’m back, I will protect you properly.”
Shuang Lin vowed to Yeyun Ye, then turned her hostile gaze towards the vigilant assistant standing nearby.
The assistant understood Shuang Lin’s intentions and said, “Miss Lin, sir has instructed that Miss Ye is not to leave the villa.”
Shuang Lin, no matter how capable, couldn’t defeat a strong man on her own. She didn’t choose to confront him directly. Instead, she let out a cold laugh and made a phone call. After speaking fluent French, she mockingly looked at the assistant, “I’d like to see if you can stop me today.”
Sensing what was about to happen, Yeyun Ye placed her cold hand into Shuang Lin’s palm and her voice, though hoarse, still carried gentleness. “Shuangshuang, thank you.”
Just these words made Shuang Lin want to burst into tears. She squeezed Yeyun Ye’s hand and said, “From now on, I’m here. I won’t let Jingxian harm you ever again!”
Five minutes later, the villa was surrounded by a phalanx of burly French bodyguards. The bodyguards who entered were particularly imposing. Upon entering, one of them lifted the assistant and pinned him onto a table.
Shuang Lin watched it all with satisfaction.
When Shuang Lin and Yeyun Ye left, the bodyguards Xiuqi Chi had left behind at the villa were powerless to stop them.
At the hospital, Xiuqi Chi wasn’t surprised when he learned that Shuang Lin had taken Yeyun Ye away. He had known when he saw Shuang Lin that her visit wasn’t solely to find Jingxian Xiang.
After ending the call, Xiuqi Chi returned to the hospital room and saw Jingxian Xiang. She had already woken up.
Recalling the Doctor’s earlier words that Jingxian Xiang only had minor superficial injuries, Xiuqi Chi’s expression darkened. Nevertheless, he sat down beside Jingxian Xiang.
Jingxian Xiang sensed Xiuqi Chi’s coldness and realized something was wrong. She looked at him nervously but didn’t know how to start.
Xiuqi Chi didn’t give Jingxian Xiang much time. He put his mobile phone aside and asked in a chilling voice, “Why did you go to the villa?”
Xiuqi Chi wasn’t stupid. He hadn’t told anyone about this matter, but he hadn’t deliberately hidden it either. If one wanted to find out Yeyun Ye’s whereabouts, it would be easy to investigate.
But why did Jingxian Xiang need to know?
During this time, Xiuqi Chi had also vaguely sensed that Jingxian Xiang didn’t seem to be as friendly with Yeyun Ye as she appeared on the surface.
