Chapter 14: A Complete Madman
Dejected, Yeyun Ye reflected on the past few years and finally resolved to end things with Xiuqi Chi. Continuing like this would only increase their mutual suffering.
Yeyun Ye got out of bed. As soon as she opened the door, she saw rows of bodyguards. Recalling Xiuqi Chi’s parting words, she let out a cold laugh.
“I want to see Xiuqi Chi.”
The bodyguards exchanged glances, none willing to acknowledge Yeyun Ye.
Yeyun Ye had anticipated their reaction. She smashed a glass in the hospital room and picked up a shard, pressing it to her throat.
“Take me to see Xiuqi Chi!” Yeyun Ye’s expression had turned somewhat frantic. “If anything happens to me under your watch, Xiuqi Chi won’t let you off the hook either!”
The bodyguards looked at each other, hesitant to act further. After calling Xiuqi Chi and explaining the situation, they relayed the information.
Xiuqi Chi sat in his office. Hearing that Yeyun Ye was threatening him with suicide, he found it amusing. “Bring her over.”
He wanted to see what tricks Yeyun Ye had up her sleeve this time.
Upon arriving at the company, Yeyun Ye pushed open the office door and looked at Xiuqi Chi. The hand holding the shard finally relaxed.
“We’re getting a divorce.”
Yeyun Ye found that uttering these four words no longer stirred any emotion within her.
Xiuqi Chi’s stern face was etched with displeasure. “Divorce? You’re probably planning to use this to negotiate with me.”
He then looked at Yeyun Ye as if she were an object. “You need to consider whether you’re worth it.”
Yeyun Ye took a deep breath, suppressing the bitterness in her heart. “I want ten million.”
This time, Yeyun Ye met Xiuqi Chi’s gaze directly, without any hint of hesitation.
Unexpectedly, Yeyun Ye dared to negotiate with him. Xiuqi Chi was taken aback for a moment before sneering, “You think you’re worth ten million?”
Although he had always suspected this woman was after money, hearing it from her lips was different.
“I’ve been married to you for three years, managing all sorts of matters. I consider myself a qualified wife.”
Yeyun Ye did not back down in the face of Xiuqi Chi’s words.
“But you don’t treat me as a wife. I’m a diligent Nanny who also has to sleep with you. Don’t you think ten million is worth it, Mr. Chi?”
Yeyun Ye’s words were dripping with sarcasm. She never imagined she would describe her relationship with Xiuqi Chi in such terms one day.
Xiuqi Chi, hearing this, curled his lips into a mocking grin. “So, you’re setting a price.”
He hadn’t felt anything when he said such words before, but hearing them from Yeyun Ye’s mouth made him furious.
Accustomed to Xiuqi Chi’s cold sarcasm, Yeyun Ye smiled and accepted his remark. “I have to make arrangements for myself.”
She had been fixated on Xiuqi Chi before. If she divorced him, Yeyun Ye couldn’t possibly continue working at Chi Corporation.
Moreover, now that she was Pregnant and her belly was growing, she wouldn’t be able to work. Even if she didn’t consider herself, she had to plan for the child.
“Good! Very good!” Something in Yeyun Ye’s words struck a nerve with Xiuqi Chi. He gritted his teeth, his voice laced with chilling hostility. “It seems you’ve been plotting all of this.”
Yeyun Ye closed her eyes, no longer wanting to argue. “Think whatever you want.” Anyway, he would never listen to her explanations.
Once Xiuqi Chi calmed down, he had figured out Yeyun Ye’s intentions.
He walked up to Yeyun Ye, noticing the scratch on her neck from the broken glass, and smiled cruelly. “You want to use these ten million to raise your bastard child? To cheat on me?”
The warmth she used to feel now only filled Yeyun Ye with dread.
She did not answer Xiuqi Chi, merely took two steps back to create distance. “This is no longer your concern, Mr. Chi. The Chi Corporation is vast; you shouldn’t be unable to produce ten million, right?”
The sum was indeed negligible to Xiuqi Chi.
“If you abort the child, I’ll give you twenty million,” Xiuqi Chi said with a cruel smile, reaching out to touch Yeyun Ye’s belly. “Raising another man’s child with my money? You must be dreaming.”
Seeing that Xiuqi Chi was still insisting she abort the child, Yeyun Ye shoved him away.
“From now on, we go our separate ways. Besides, no one knows we were married,” Yeyun Ye said with a smile. She was a fragile woman, yet her maternal instinct made her strong. “I won’t cause you any unnecessary trouble.”
Witnessing Yeyun Ye continuously protecting the child, Xiuqi Chi grew increasingly enraged. He had already ordered an investigation into whom Yeyun Ye had been in contact with two months prior. If he found out… he would make that person wish they were dead.
Yeyun Ye clearly saw the malevolence in Xiuqi Chi’s eyes. She pursed her lips, steadied her emotions, and said, “You’ve already met the Xiang Family. You’ll be marrying Jingxian Xiang soon, won’t you?”
Hearing Yeyun Ye’s question, Xiuqi Chi’s mood slightly softened. “Is that why you’ve come to make trouble?”
He knew it. This woman had loved him for so many years; how could she possibly…
“Bigamy is illegal,” Yeyun Ye said, seeing the smile disappear from Xiuqi Chi’s lips. She had never felt so brave. “If you don’t agree to my terms, I won’t sign. You have power and money; you wouldn’t want to fall foul of the law, would you?”
Xiuqi Chi had never anticipated that this woman, who had always been meek and obedient before him, would dare to threaten him.
“If I want your signature, I have ten thousand ways.” Xiuqi Chi grabbed Yeyun Ye’s wrist, looking at her face. She looked so similar to Jingxian Xiang, yet he found it utterly disgusting. “Don’t you care about Yuxun Xia? If I take revenge on your lover, wouldn’t that hurt you even more?”
Yeyun Ye, who had thought the matter was all but settled, hadn’t expected Xiuqi Chi to target Yuxun Xia.
“Xiuqi Chi! You’re despicable and shameless!” she exclaimed, attempting to break free from his grasp. “Why must your issues involve innocent people!”
“Innocent? He’s offended me time and time again. It’s already forgiving him to simply have him arrested. If you continue like this, I guarantee his life will become even more difficult.”
With that, Xiuqi Chi released her.
Without Xiuqi Chi’s support, Yeyun Ye tumbled onto the sofa, her earlier confidence completely gone.
“Xiuqi Chi, you’re a complete madman!”
