Chapter 10: Almost Assaulted
Yeyun Ye thought about the ashtray full of cigarette butts and felt her idea was foolish. If Xiuqi Chi really cared about such things, she wouldn’t be in this situation now.
Distracted, Yeyun Ye submitted a scrambled report to her manager’s inbox. By the time she realized it, the report couldn’t be recalled.
“Yeyun Ye! Get in here!”
Leyi Zhang looked at Yeyun Ye in surprise upon hearing the manager’s angry voice and quietly asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Yeyun Ye shook her head, a bitter smile playing on her lips as she walked into the office.
The department manager was a man in his forties, his beer belly particularly noticeable in his suit. Even from a distance, Yeyun Ye could smell the nauseating scent of smoke and alcohol emanating from him.
“You took a few days off, and now you don’t know how to work anymore?” The manager’s lecherous eyes scanned Yeyun Ye. His words were greasy but technically flawless, “I suppose after being a rich man’s mistress, you’re unwilling to do hard labor.”
The manager had been present when Jingxian Xiang came to the company to cause trouble that day. He had naturally heard Jingxian’s accusations against Yeyun Ye and Xiuqi Chi’s indifference.
It seemed Yeyun Ye had no protection at this company, and he could do whatever he pleased with her.
Yeyun Ye simply lowered her head, “I’m sorry, I was distracted just now.”
“Xiao Yun, being distracted is no big deal. Everyone has those moments,” the manager said with a smile, walking over to Yeyun Ye. He reached out to take her hand but was evaded. Unfazed, he chuckled and continued, “Sit down first. I have something to tell you.”
Yeyun Ye felt like she was sitting on pins and needles on the sofa.
“Actually, considering your abilities, it’s really unfair for you to still be a clerk.”
As the manager spoke, his gaze swept over Yeyun Ye. After finishing his sentence, he sat down directly opposite her.
From the very first day she joined the department, Yeyun Ye had felt the manager’s disgusting intentions and had always avoided him as much as possible.
She knew that even if something happened, Xiuqi Chi wouldn’t come to her rescue. In his view, he would probably blame her for being promiscuous.
Yeyun Ye subtly shifted back on the sofa, “Manager Wu, I’m quite satisfied with my current situation. I have no complaints.”
This was a clear rejection, but Fang Wu pretended not to understand. “People strive for progress, water flows downhill. Our department currently has a vacant deputy manager position, and I think you’re the most suitable candidate. Although your relationship with President Chi isn’t good, I still have some influence in the company…”
As he spoke, Fang Wu moved closer and sat right beside Yeyun Ye.
“Xiao Yun, in this society, having talent alone isn’t enough. I don’t need to tell you that it’s good to have a strong backer, right? Many female colleagues in our company have experienced this.”
Fang Wu’s large hand reached out towards Yeyun Ye.
The employees wore a uniform. Yeyun Ye was only wearing a short skirt. Because it was too short, Yeyun Ye had taken it to a tailor to have it lengthened to just below her knees.
“Before, I thought your skirt was too inconvenient. Now, looking at it, it has a different charm,” the manager said, preparing to lunge at Yeyun Ye.
Yeyun Ye didn’t expect him to dare to act so openly in the company. She decisively stood up and walked towards the door, intending to leave. There was nothing worth discussing with someone like him.
However, when Yeyun Ye entered, Wu Fang had already locked the door. People outside couldn’t see what was happening inside, which emboldened him.
Seeing that Yeyun Ye was still trying to escape, Wu Fang’s smile turned particularly sinister, “Xiao Yun, you slept with President Chi, are you still worried about crawling onto another bed? President Chi doesn’t want you anymore anyway. If you come with me, I’ll treat you well.”
Wu Fang unbuttoned his suit jacket and slowly approached Yeyun Ye, his smile lewd, “If you give yourself to me today, I can guarantee that the deputy manager position will be yours tomorrow.”
“Manager Wu, I’m not interested in the deputy manager position… Ah!”
Before Yeyun Ye could finish her refusal, Wu Fang roughly grabbed her wrist.
“I don’t care if you’re interested or not! I have to conquer you today!”
Wu Fang had wanted to do this since Yeyun Ye first joined the company, but the woman was too uncooperative, always maintaining a cold demeanor.
Coupled with her beauty, Wu Fang feared she might be involved with someone he couldn’t afford to offend.
When he learned that day that she was President Chi’s mistress, Wu Fang felt fortunate that he hadn’t touched her. But seeing Xiuqi Chi’s indifferent and disgusted attitude towards Yeyun Ye, he figured he must have gotten tired of her. Now that Yeyun Ye was back at the company, wasn’t she just looking for someone else to climb the ladder with?
Thinking this, Wu Fang felt his chance had arrived—
Yeyun Ye desperately kicked Wu Fang with her feet to keep him away, but one of her hands was already being held. She could only use her other hand to violently pound on the door.
“Manager Wu! Calm down! If you continue like this, I’ll call the police!” Yeyun Ye pressed herself against the door with her high heels, her hair becoming disheveled from her struggle.
“Call the police? Go ahead, I’d like to see what evidence you have.”
With a sudden surge of strength, Wu Fang pushed Yeyun Ye to the ground.
The obese man repeatedly kissed her neck. Yeyun Ye felt a wave of nausea and flailed desperately, trying to break free.
Wu Fang released Yeyun Ye’s hand and began to take off his suit.
Just then, Yeyun Ye felt around and found an ashtray on the coffee table. As Wu Fang leaned in again, she forcefully smashed it against the back of his head.
Wu Fang looked at the woman on the floor in disbelief before losing consciousness, collapsing onto Yeyun Ye like a dead pig.
Yeyun Ye forced herself to push Wu Fang off, fighting the urge to vomit. She felt disgusted by his scent all over her body.
After retching in the trash can for a long time, she gradually regained her senses and looked at the unconscious Wu Fang.
Yeyun Ye panted, her appearance disheveled, and frantically searched the desk for keys, but found nothing.
Yeyun Ye forced herself to calm down and returned to Wu Fang’s side, bending down to search his pockets. The moment she got the keys, the man who had been motionless suddenly grabbed her hand again.
“Ah!” Yeyun Ye screamed in terror. Fear drove her to forcefully kick Wu Fang’s arm.
Afraid that Wu Fang might make another move, her hands trembled as she finally opened the office door.
Leyi Zhang had also sensed something was wrong and, upon opening the door, was rushed by Yeyun Ye.
Yeyun Ye was a far cry from the neat and tidy woman she had been just minutes before.
Taking another look, Leyi Zhang saw the bloodstains inside the office and Wu Fang, with a gaping hole in the back of his head, lying on the floor—
