Chapter: 636
As debris and soldiers fall from above, they become sparks of chaos itself.
The formation created by the spearmen collapses, and the knights’ nerves are pulled in different directions as they shout to maintain discipline. They’re frozen in place, fearing they too might be attacked.
In other words, this is our chance.
“Follow me, shoddy folks.”
I push aside the one at the front with a shield and grab the collar of the one behind.
Ignoring the bewildered gaze in his eyes, I throw him and watch as those behind him tumble down one after another.
The strength of the many comes from formation and tactics.
In a fantasy world where one person can handle thousands, breaking the formation means losing a way to stop the strong.
“Hm!”
Of course, the king knows this, which is why he placed knights in between.
“Smells good♡”
No matter how strong one is, the moment their attention is diverted, they can’t dodge the sword flying toward their neck at supersonic speed.
Especially if it’s a state speeded up by the Saintess’s blessing.
With Frey’s sword, the knight’s head flies through the air, spreading fear among the soldiers.
In the midst of this, Arthur grabs a soldier’s spear and throws it toward the railing, infusing it with his magic.
The spear punctures the stone wall and soon explodes inside the barrier, creating more chaos.
“Everyone!”
Are they starting to respond?
I grin as I raise my shield at the shout from above.
The soldiers who pulled back start to merge around the knight.
Since they can’t suppress us by sheer violence, they’ll try fighting as an elite few.
Not a bad strategy, I suppose.
But that muddy stuff looks way too ominous, doesn’t it?
“O Great Lord Jushin, shine the sun upon their shadows.”
Phoebe’s divine magic seals away the movements of malevolent life.
While she could purify, that would only waste divine power, so she withdrew after doing her part.
A rational decision. As long as she halts the enemy’s movement, there are others who will take care of the rest.
Frey’s sword, Arthur’s sword, and my blunt weapon fly toward different enemies, shattering them like predetermined targets.
“Lucy, look up.”
Following Joy’s words, I turn my head to see the broken railings being repaired and the supposedly dead enemies rising again.
The soldiers gathered around us are similarly scattering, reclaiming their physical forms.
“Can we win against enemies that don’t die!?”
The king’s voice carries a hint of laughter. I roughly get what he wants to say.
Did you enjoy playing with us so far? But what are you going to do now? Everything you did was useless, right?
“It’s the scenario I expected.”
To which my response would be, “You thought I wouldn’t foresee this situation? Your brain is a flower patch.”
You took Agra’s powers, didn’t you?
Of course, you’d think to drag this out.
The first time modders dealt with that power, they all acted that way.
Indeed, facing Agra’s power was tricky for the first time.
An opponent that resurrects even after dying! Ignoring them causes their numbers to pile up, and defeating them feels meaningless. Ah~ it was such a hassle.
The dungeon that seemed balanced in the main game was difficult enough; how would the modes aimed at blatant abuse be?
In the end, the method I chose was speedrunning in a straight path, but that’s a way only someone like me could use.
It’s not a method most could choose.
Of course, other strategies existed.
“Sloppy Saintess.”
“The flames come from the sun. Thus, with the sun’s blessing, the flames cannot hurt us.”
Confirming the blessing that increases our resistance to heat, I grab a barrel from my inventory and throw it up.
Immediately, Frey slices through the barrel, and Arthur creates a whirlwind to spread the black liquid within.
“Flame, ignite.”
As the black liquid splashes to the ground, Joy expresses her magic with her voice.
Flames rise from the red jewel that seemed to have expended all its power, adding sparks to the black liquid.
“Run! Sloppy folks!”
As flames ignite, I dash toward the stairs.
Behind me, I hear the sound of something burning and the enemies approaching, but I ignore it.
They can’t catch up to us anyway. They’ll crumble before they could.
“How cruel and efficient. Good. Let’s change how we do this.”
As we step onto the round stairs, ghosts start gathering around us.
These beings are not attacking us; they are here to embrace and explode.
“Bugs. It’s time to work.”
– Finally!
– Are they going to sing?!
– I’m so confident!
I channel the divine grace of the Lord Jushin into my throat. I don’t plan to turn it into words. Humming with the energy of purification is enough.
“Ah~”
The voice that comes out of my throat resonates around me.
– Ah~ – Ah~ – Ah~
It echoes even more upon the fairies, loudly filling the space.
Those who disregard the end can’t be stopped, but those who have already reached it will have their return deemed possible by warmth that embraces even their vengeance.
As the spirits rushing towards us disappear one by one, my friends deal with attacks coming from the railing.
They slice, cancel, block, swallow, and send them back, clearing the path through hundreds of attacks.
“This is troublesome. Let’s change tactics again.”
The spirits that had been appearing erratically vanish in an instant, replaced by massive power radiating from the wizards at the top of the railing.
Ah. So now they’re planning to collapse the pillars instead of stopping us normally?
Hahaha! How cliché.
Explosions may be artistic, but only if they’re our explosions.
I’m not planning to admire yours.
Tossing off my cloak, I leap into the air. Infusing the authority of embrace into my armor.
The greedy armor pulls even the authority of embrace, strengthening itself with its nature.
“It’s a delayed explosion! 5 seconds left!”
I know a thing or two about delayed explosion magic. Since I remember the timing when the magic initiated, I can ignore what they say afterward.
As the magic circle lights up and the condensed flames in the shape of a spear are released, the spear tip glows brightly.
Right now.
With a cheerful whoosh, the magic aimed at me gets bounced off into the air and explodes.
Using the recoil, I land back on the stairs and poke the side of the dumbfounded guy next to me with the Hero’s cape.
“6 seconds, huh? Were you planning to kill me?”
“T-That’s what happened!? Why?!”
“Why? Whyyyyy!?”
“Ahh! Ahhh!”
By the time I deliver a five-hit combo to Joy as punishment, we reach the top. The pig guy glares at us, filled with irritation.
“Not bad for a pigsty♡ You all tried hard~♡ Boo-boo♡”
“I thought it was lame.”
“Foolish swordsman♡ How can you impose human standards on a pig?♡ You should praise it!♡ A smart little piggy♡”
“Still, it’s just a pig.”
The pig seemed to have something to say but shivered with rage, overhearing my conversation with Frey as we stepped up.
Even Mira bore the embarrassment on her face.
Giggling, as I place my foot on the upper floor, many rooms greet us.
I guess they’re asking us to choose the right path among these?
Following the correct order to reach the boss room seems likely.
If it’s to exhaust us, it’s not too bad.
Normally, I’d have to entertain Boo-boo with trial and error.
But not when facing me.
“Joy, do you detect anything behind the door?”
“No, not at all.”
“What about you, Saintess?”
“I’m sorry, I don’t feel anything either.”
“…Just checking, but Frey Kent. What about you?”
“Can I choose?”
“Of course not.”
“Such pettiness.”
Leaving my bewildered friends behind, I scan multiple doors.
There’s not a hint of anything in another corner. I’m humming as I examine all the doors and happily stand in front of one.
Then, upon opening it, we’re once again greeted by a multitude of doors. Soldiers from below join us.
“I’m going to run. You know the drill.”
Boo-boo likely hoped we would struggle against the non-dying soldiers while searching for the answer, but that won’t happen.
Because there’s no reason to ponder the solution.
The place I picked is definitely the answer. Why would I think and ponder while I wander?
Every time we exit a room, the number of soldiers trailing behind us increases.
The number of perverts trying to ambush us only multiplies.
But there’s no way those enthusiastic stalkers will touch us.
We haven’t stopped even once.
So, after running for a while, when we finally reach an enormous door, the soldiers following behind melt away and vanish.
“Don’t even think about resting. We don’t know what nasty things Boo-boo may have set up in his pen.”
“I wasn’t thinking of resting in the first place.”
“This level is easy.”
“Haha, the training paid off, Young Lady.”
“Heh… Ha… True! Phoebe!”
I smile at my buoyant friends and stand in front to open the door. Mira, seated on the throne, rests her chin on her hand, glaring at me.
“What scheme are you trying to pull?”
“Huh?♡ What did you say, Boo-boo?♡ I don’t know pig language?♡”
“What trick did you pull to exceed astronomical probabilities!”
Hoo, heh. So that’s why you’re mad?
“Curious?♡”
“The Lord Jushin intervened, didn’t he? He couldn’t ignore the Apostle’s predicament and thus revealed the answer to you. This has destroyed the balance!”
“Puhahah!♡ The Shoddy God isn’t shoddy for nothing!♡ What could a pathetic, crumpled Shoddy God do?♡”
“Quit your nonsense! You violated the rules!”
“How pitiful to be in denial♡ You want to believe that, right?♡”
“You!”
“Go ahead, beg~♡ Please tell me I did something terrible~♡ I’m scared of losing to a girl so you’re just a pathetic whiner~♡”
