Chapter 19

Chapter 21: Unworthy to Be Enemies?

At first, Liu Shunyi really planned to sneak into the Valleys of Villains.

But what he didn’t expect was that as soon as he stepped into the outskirts of the place, a dozen knives were suddenly pressed against his neck.

And guess what? All of these folks were Foundation Establishment cultivators.

Liu Shunyi was utterly dumbfounded.

In all his years traversing this world, he had met fewer Foundation Establishment cultivators than fingers on both hands.

Yet this simple Valley of Villains had so many popping up all at once! Talk about disastrous timing!

Resistance? Forget about it; there was no way he could fight back.

After all, he only had one enemy that he knew of.

What left Liu Shunyi utterly speechless was that even though these folks had captured him, the Golden Scroll of the Dao made no response.

No response meant that these guys weren’t out to kill him.

And that was a real conundrum.

Even if he had the Golden Scroll of the Dao, and could hit hard, facing off against a swarm of Foundation Establishment cultivators meant it was game over for him anyway.

Hold on. Before entering, Liu Shunyi scrutinized the area carefully.

There was a large cauldron outside the Valley of Villains, inscribed with some mysterious runes.

It was clearly some sort of magical artifact.

What caught Liu Shunyi’s attention were the many withered bones surrounding it.

And people inside the cauldron? They were constantly boiling something.

That meant anyone caught here had only one fate: death.

If that was the case, why wouldn’t the Golden Scroll of the Dao write their names down?

Liu Shunyi gently closed his eyes and looked closely at the Golden Scroll of the Dao in his mind.

Still, no reaction.

However, the golden brush was shining brightly.

“What does this mean?”

Liu Shunyi was momentarily baffled.

The golden brush was in a state that seemed poised to write, yet it was just standing there without moving. What gives?

As if sensing Liu Shunyi’s confusion, the brush fluttered up, landing on the Golden Scroll and brushing out a line of text:

“Unworthy to be enemies!”

Liu Shunyi: “???”

Excuse me? Just how high do you think of me?

It’s just a crowd of Foundation Establishment cultivators! What exactly does “unworthy to be enemies” mean?

But soon, Chen Qiaoli provided Liu Shunyi with an answer.

“Junior Brother, I feel like there’s nothing limiting you!”

Liu Shunyi felt a bit awkward.

When he entered, he indeed had some limitations.

But those limitations? They had transferred over to Chen Beiping.

He could only explain, “Maybe it’s just different physiques!”

Chen Qiaoli: “…”

Though she didn’t believe Liu Shunyi’s words, if he truly had no limitations and could tap into his cultivation, that was certainly a good thing.

With that thought, Chen Qiaoli stepped in front of Liu Shunyi.

“Junior Brother, press there and activate your cultivation!”

As she spoke, Chen Qiaoli tugged down her collar a bit.

Liu Shunyi: “???”

His first reaction was—wow, she’s so pale.

“Slap!”

Immediately, he received a light smack to the head.

“Quit staring, hurry up!”

Liu Shunyi quickly nodded.

“Got it!”

As he placed his hand on Chen Qiaoli’s chest to channel his powers, he suddenly heard a crack.

Chen Qiaoli instantly tightened her collar.

“Let’s go, we need to break out!”

With that, she stood up, and a long sword appeared in her hand.

Liu Shunyi was stunned.

“Wait, Senior Sister! There are over two hundred Foundation Establishment cultivators inside and outside!”

Chen Qiaoli shook her head.

“Though their levels are Foundation Establishment, they all got there through shady means. Their foundations are so weak they’re not even as strong as our sect’s Qi Refinement Sixth Stage disciples. Also, I noticed that these people are essentially puppets with no independent thought; they’re just instinctively going through the motions—they can’t compare to us!”

Suddenly, Liu Shunyi grasped the meaning of the Golden Scroll of the Dao.

If that was the case, these folks weren’t really worthy to be his enemies.

But then again…

Could he really be picky about how few enemies he had?

“No way! Golden Scroll of the Dao, can you at least arrange for a couple of foes?!”

No response from the Golden Scroll of the Dao.

Great. Liu Shunyi realized it wouldn’t budge for him.

Next, he drew his sword and followed Chen Qiaoli into action.

And then—

Liu Shunyi froze in place.

He had been utterly following Chen Qiaoli’s lead.

All the patrolling enemies? They really were acting like puppets, just going through basic movements.

It seemed they had no awareness of the two of them sneaking by.

Eventually, they made it out of the Valley of Villains.

Liu Shunyi felt like he was dreaming.

“Was it really that easy?”

Chen Qiaoli quickly started shedding her clothes.

As she stripped, she reminded Liu Shunyi, “You better change quickly too!”

Liu Shunyi was so flabbergasted.

“Wait, you don’t have any clothes on?”

He blurted out, face red.

Seriously, Chen Qiaoli’s figure was simply overwhelming.

Chen Qiaoli shrugged casually.

“I have clothes, but I can’t wear them right now!”

Then she eyed Liu Shunyi with a playful smirk.

At first, Liu Shunyi didn’t quite get it.

But soon, it became clear.

Just as his clothes turned into a ball of fire.

The flames started to creep up toward his body.

Liu Shunyi was so startled, he hurriedly stripped again!

“Let’s go quickly!”

Chen Qiaoli said nothing further and turned to flee.

Liu Shunyi didn’t waste a second; he followed right after her.

Time passed, and Liu Shunyi found himself led into a hidden cave by Chen Qiaoli.

It goes without saying; this cave was prepared by Chen Qiaoli long ago.

It served as a safety net for unexpected situations.

Once inside the cave, Liu Shunyi felt a mixture of relief and exhaustion.

Why?

Because Chen Qiaoli used Fireball Technique to roast him for half an hour straight.

Now, Liu Shunyi was bright red all over, billowing smoke from his body, bewildered.

“Senior Sister, I don’t know what your actual cultivation level is, but it must be high! If you’re so strong, why were you captured?”

Chewing on some snacks, Chen Qiaoli explained, “I’m not at Golden Core yet, so I simply can’t match up against one. Plus, it was a surprise attack!”

Liu Shunyi: “???”

Golden Core, surprise attack!

Liu Shunyi instantly thought of the lord of Kangzhuang City.

“No way!”

Liu Shunyi’s head felt heavy.

Chen Qiaoli nodded.

“It is indeed the lord of Kangzhuang City.”

Liu Shunyi scratched his head.

“Then why didn’t we report to the sect directly? Why hide?”

Chen Qiaoli shook her head.

“Remember that flame?”

Liu Shunyi nodded.

“That’s a warning fire. When we left, if we had just taken off our clothes and ran, the lord might have thought we were dead. But after the second burn, he probably realized someone escaped. At present, he’s probably at the Valley of Villains, even increasing his men to search for anyone coming back to Qinglian Sect.”
