Chapter 246

### Chapter 246 – Room 202, Cursed Room – ‘Mermaid Princess’ (24)

Elena

Well, things have gotten weird, and I mean really weird. I was surrounded by this chaotic mess of humans and slimes in a research facility that felt like it was straight out of a horror flick. And just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, I spotted something that made my heart race: a rusted pipe dangling from the ceiling.

“Uh, guys?” I called out, trying to regain some sense of normalcy. “Is that… what I think it is?”

“Yes! That’s the famed ‘Resting Pipe’!” the deputy director exclaimed, completely missing the horror in my expression. “It’s kinda like our shiny holy grail! The ultimate treasure!”

“Great, so we’ve basically got ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ meets ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ here… what’s next, a giant foam finger?”

All the while, slimes squirmed, people whimpered, and the deputy director went on rambling about its powers like a kid at a candy store. I couldn’t help but think that if this ‘pipe’ could weaken the sea god’s power, it sure as heck didn’t appear to be doing much for our morale.

“Look at it!” he pointed with wild enthusiasm. “A human can replace the pipe! We’ve unlocked the most magnificent science!”

“Sure, because that’s what everyone dreams of being—bio-pipes!” I grumbled, feeling ill at the idea. “Next, do you plan on making humans into lamps?”

“Don’t be ridiculous! Who would want that?”

“Uh, tell that to my imagination, which is basically on overdrive right now!”

Serenade, on the other hand, seemed to have her own thing going. As she casually yanked out a giant Rudakh and shoved it into the deputy director’s body while he was busy begging for his life, I felt an odd mixture of horror and excitement.

“Whoa! You really went full mad scientist on him!” I exclaimed.

“Survival of the fittest, sis! Let’s just pray he doesn’t pop like a balloon. That’s a whole new level of chaos that we don’t need.”

The deputy director squirmed like a cooked spaghetti noodle.

“Uh, maybe someone should check on him?” I suggested. A human/slug hybrid wasn’t exactly my idea of a fun Saturday night.

By this time, the other bio-pipes were flopping around like a bunch of drunken fish, basically confirming the fact that our chance of survival was slowly slipping through our fingers like wet sand.

“Let’s…let’s just get out of here,” I stammered, feeling a chill creep down my spine.

But then Serenade grinned, eyes glinting with madness as she turned to me. “What if we could control them? Imagine! Us, running a human-slug army! It’s like building an army of water balloons but way cooler!”

“Right! Because there’s nothing more intimidating than a potential army of floppy, confused creatures.”

“Exactly! A ‘Squishy Apocalypse’!”

At that moment, I thought, What have we done to deserve this? I just wanted a vacation on Jeju Island, not this human/slime hybrid mess!

Just as I was planning my getaway, a loud shout came from the corner.

“Hey! Is this chaos a party I wasn’t invited to?”

I turned to see one of our missing comrades re-emerging like a bad penny.

“Oh great! It’s like the universe heard my exasperation! Are you here to save us, or are you just another addition to the cake topping?”

“Cake—who said anything about cake?”

Though slimes and panic bubbling all around us, that ridiculous sentiment somehow made me smile.

“You know, with all this wildness, if we do survive, we better throw a party. A ‘Save the Slugs’ bash, maybe?”

“Only if we can have a piñata shaped like the deputy director!” Serenade chimed in, laughing madly.

“Agreed! Small victories in our chaotic lives!”

As the madness continued swirling around us, I found a flicker of hope. Who knew even in a cursed room, surrounded by bio-pipes and slimes, we could find a bastardization of camaraderie amidst the madness?

So I took a deep breath and mentally prepared myself for whatever hilarious disaster awaited us next.

And from the chaos, a glimmer of determination bubbled up.

Note to self: Find an actual cake next time.
