Chapter 11

Chapter: 11

“But Mother, why have you transformed into that appearance again?”

“Hm? What do you mean by that appearance?”

Shamash asked as they looked at me in my human form.

“What’s wrong with this form?”

“Um… Normally, Mother sparkles and is just as beautiful as ever, but right now, you look more cute than shiny.”

“But doesn’t it suit me?”

I smiled a little and poked my cheeks with my index fingers.

“Well, it does fit! It’s cute! But I still prefer you with your dazzling beauty!”

“But isn’t this good in its own way?”

Since I’ve turned into a woman, shouldn’t I enjoy it?

Well, not that I’m planning on getting married and having kids. I mean, I might not have given birth to them, but now I’ve got seven children. And indirectly, I’ve got a bunch of little grandkids running around.

Unlike the times I wandered the world alone creating life, now there’s all this noisy joy surrounding me.

“Great Creator Dragon!!! You lousy Blue Dragon!”

“No, it’s this ignorant Gold!!!”

Taking care of the other kids from this perspective is quite the challenge.

Surely it’s a small number… Oh, except for the Blacks. The Blacks started with dozens.

Anyway, the dragons began with a few, but now there are hundreds soaring around in this world.

So, a mountain of work is piling up on me as the one mediating these kids.

“If it’s not a serious matter, can’t you just solve it with a chat? You know, if Thetis and Shamash could just talk it out…”

Ah, no. That won’t work.

Because they were made from my scales, the kids sided with those who shared their scale color.

I’d say it’s like how a crab leans towards its side… that saying doesn’t quite fit, huh?

Anyway, I was the only one who could listen to the kids from a neutral perspective.

So, today too, I was being harassed by the kids.

“Mother! Please return to your original form! Let’s show your shining beauty to the other kids!”

“It’s a hassle. Plus, my body is too big and gets in the way.”

I mean, I’m twice the size of the biggest one, Sagar. Honestly, it’s hard to sit still with this body.

And more importantly, being in this human form makes me reflect on the fact that I used to be human. Yes.

If humans are born someday… it’d be nice to be among them.

Ah, but I need to figure out what to do with these horns. They stick around even when I transform, which is quite a bother.

“Or… how about you try transforming into this form?”

“Me? Transform?”

Shamash stared at me in shock. Is it really that shocking?

“How could I give up this shining, beautiful body and transform into something that looks so weak? That’s ridiculous!”

“Weak? Even in this form, I’m way stronger than you now!”

Even in human form, the essence of the body is still dragon. That strength won’t just vanish.

Honestly, I could easily smack Shamash down in a fight in this form.

The dignity of the strongest being in the world. Ahem.

Hmm… Is it because the human form looks like a child? I feel like my mental age is getting younger. Am I imagining things?

“Or is it that you don’t like it because you think your beauty will disappear if you transform?”

“My beauty disappear? That’s impossible! I’m beautiful in any form!”

Shamash confidently boasted. And sure enough, Shamash’s shiny golden form is indeed beautiful.

I’m curious what their human form would look like.

“Um, so… gather your magic power… and change into a form like Mother…”

Shamash concentrated their magic power, struggled a bit, and then began to glow while transforming.

And Shamash’s transformed appearance was…

“A blonde beauty.”

Somehow, I felt like this blonde beauty should laugh with an “Ohoho!”

“Right? Ah, you meant it’s beautiful! That’s what you’re saying!”

“Yes. Exactly.”

A blonde girl. She looked like someone who’d be perfect with curled hair styled into a bun.

“Hmm… Even in this form, I’m quite beautiful!”

“Shamash, are you going to try laughing like ‘Ohohoho’?”

“Huh? Oh, okay! Ohohohoho!”

Just as I thought, that laugh suits her perfectly.

She gives off the vibe of a noble blonde lady. Hmm.

“Hmm… This form of mine is also pretty beautiful! Although Mother was much smaller and cuter.”

“That’s what I’m saying.”

Here I was looking like a child, while Shamash looked like a teenager on the brink of adulthood.

I’m older, but… I can’t understand this gap. It’s baffling.

“Being small comes with its perks, I suppose. It seems I could sneak into places I usually can’t.”

“Hmm. It’s more convenient than I expected.”

The human form is also pleasing to the eyes.

Honestly, the dragon form is cool, but… seeing it too often gets old. Yep.

So, beginning with Shamash, it became a trend for the other kids to transform into human forms.

Time kept passing, and the number of dragon children gradually grew.

I thought the land might not be able to handle so many big dragons, but living in human form has become the norm, so it was more manageable than anticipated.

And by living as humans, something unexpected happened that I hadn’t foreseen.

“Krruk.”

“Hm? Ah, you’ve come.”

The human form seemed to really excite the dinosaurs. Smaller dinosaurs began mutating into forms resembling humans.

These human-like dinosaurs… casually dubbed lizardmen, turned out to be surprisingly intelligent.

They knew how to use tools and make fire… basically, they had a primitive human-level intelligence.

It’s ironic that lizardmen showed up before humans, isn’t it? Is this some reptilian conspiracy?!

Just kidding.

“What brings you here today?”

“Krruk. Shk! Shk!”

The lizardmen admired the dragons who transformed into humans, but they still lacked the mouth structure for speaking, so they made sounds closer to cries.

In its hand was a tiny flower.

“Hmm, is this for me?”

“Krru! Kruup!”

“Thank you.”

I smiled and accepted the flower from the lizardman.

A small white flower. Just a common little flower found around here, but receiving it as a gift made me super happy.

“Then, I guess I owe you something as well. What do you wish for?”

“Krruk. Kruu!”

The lizardman handed something it had been carrying with its tail. A broken stone spear. A spear with a beautiful black obsidian blade.

“Hmm. It’s a broken spear, huh? Do you want me to fix it?”

Though it couldn’t speak, the lizardman nodded slightly.

I had no idea what caused it to break, but it must have been an important item for this lizardman.

I took the spear the lizardman handed to me. Hmm. What should I do to fix it?

Well, the answer is pretty simple.

I raised my magical power, wrapped it around the spear, and cast a spell.

Sure, the overall system of magic isn’t fully developed yet, but I could easily use some basic spells.

The magic I’m using right now is… a very straightforward time-reversal spell.

Simple as it may be, when I tried teaching it to other dragons, none could use it!

Well, since it’s a magic based on my special abilities, I guess that’s to be expected.

The broken spear shaft automatically stuck back together, and the cracks gradually disappeared. Before long, the spear was completed, showing no traces of having been broken.

And I added an extra bonus—casting a time freeze spell on the spear so it won’t break again.

“Here, it won’t break again. Take care of it.”

“Krruk! Khuff! Khuff!”

The lizardman was incredibly happy. Seeing it so genuinely thrilled made me happy too.

Compared to the dragon kids’ personalities that have been getting worse lately… this is quite nice. Definitely.

The lizardman’s treasure. The ancient obsidian spear is a holy treasure said to have been gifted by the legendary Creator Dragon to the ancestors of the lizardmen.

According to legend, the ancestors of the lizardmen offered a white flower to the Creator Dragon and received the magic-imbued obsidian spear.

Thanks to the magic, the obsidian spear never dulls, and its shaft never breaks, no matter the attack.

The specifics of the magic the Creator Dragon placed on this spear remain a topic of debate. Whether it’s merely a strengthening spell or an unusual effect from ancient magic is still unknown. Rumor has it that even the dragons, the masters of magic, cannot comprehend it.

The ancient obsidian spear has continued to be passed down to this day as a treasure of the lizardman race, preserved through generations by the leaders of the major tribes.
