Episode 19: Guild Master’s Flashback
I am Banger, the Guild Master of the Ronma Dungeon Adventurers’ Guild.
I used to be an A-Class adventurer, an incredible one known as the “Hurricane Destroyer.”
There was a time when I thought I might be able to reach S-Class, but when I saw a real monster—a genuine S-Class adventurer—I felt that I could never win against them.
I never thought that way about any monster I faced before.
From that point on, I gave up on aiming for S-Class and focused on steady and reliable work as an adventurer.
This approach earned me the position of Guild Master of the Adventurers’ Guild, but—
“Marie, can you handle the reception today? I can’t deal with the clients because I’m sick.”
Marie, the receptionist, mentioned that Ballad, the idiot son of the Duke’s Household, had come in, so I should attend to him.
“It’s decided that only the Guild Master or the Sub-Guild Master deals with nobles. Since the Sub-Guild Master is away on business, the Guild Master must attend to him.”
“Dammit! Normal nobles wouldn’t be a problem, but it’s that Ballad! That’s why I don’t want to go out. He’s a pervert and a womanizer, so I think it would go smoother if you dealt with him, Marie. Please!”
“Rules are rules, Guild Master. Please understand.”
Without listening to my pleas, Marie swiftly walked out.
Reluctantly, I prepared to deal with the idiot son.
Surprisingly, he was responding quite decently.
I couldn’t help but wonder if this guy was really Ballad when I locked eyes with a maid behind him.
A beastman A-Class adventurer, she was a member of the Impulse of Destruction team. I had heard that four out of the five members had quit due to marriage, leaving Rose behind, and now she was his maid.
Well, if she’s with him, maybe it’s fine to dive into the dungeon.
With half my anxieties calmed, I permitted them to enter the dungeon.
Every day after that, they appeared in the dungeon to delve into its depths.
While adventurers usually sell the loot they acquire to the guild, they apparently returned without selling anything.
What on earth are they doing? It became the talk among the adventurers.
As long as they didn’t cause any problems, I didn’t care.
I just hoped there wouldn’t be any fallout from my interactions with the nobles.
But then, I heard they had made it to the very bottom of the Ronma Dungeon and had successfully cleared it.
Only an A-Class or several B-Class teams could hope to clear a dungeon of that level.
Even though Rose was there, were the others not ordinary members either?
Now I was feeling anxious, and my stomach began to hurt.
