Chapter 6: Escape
Head of the W!
The Vampire and the Sickly Person were instantly caught.
While the mental attack from a Second-tier Mysterious Item was not enough to threaten a Cocoon Breaking stage expert, it could still affect them momentarily.
The Vampire and the Sickly Person both stopped abruptly, a hint of daze in their eyes.
However, these two villains were considered strong even among Evolvers of the same tier. As everyone knows, the more twisted a person, the stronger their willpower. The two quickly shook off the mental attack’s effects, and faintly, they heard a shout.
“Someone is escaping!”
They were very familiar with this voice; it was Su Ze’s.
“Damn it, I’m going to tear your skin off inch by inch and make a puzzle out of it!”
Both of them hated Su Ze immensely at this moment, wishing they could devour him alive.
But as they looked up, they only saw Su Ze’s speed suddenly surge, darting out like lightning. Before leaving, he casually tossed a small glass bottle.
The glass bottle hit the metal floor and shattered, releasing a cloud of yellow gas.
This was precisely the compressed poison gas Su Ze had found on Zhao Lingxiao’s corpse.
Though it sounds complicated, all of this happened in an instant. By the time Su Ze shouted about an escape and rushed out of the Containment Zone, the Warden Captain on duty finally reacted. His face changed, and he hurriedly slammed the large gate shut with all his might.
The Vampire and the Sickly Person watched as the half-open gate rapidly closed, the moonlight filtering in from the outside being gradually obscured. It was as if their hope of escaping was slowly being extinguished. Their eyes bulged with rage, and they charged towards the gate like madmen.
At this moment, both of them unleashed speeds they had never achieved before.
There was still hope!
Flames flickered in their eyes, like a drowning person grasping at a last straw.
But as they entered the range of the yellow gas, their faces instantly turned red, their breathing grew rapid, and they shriveled up like deflated balloons, falling powerlessly to the ground.
Their skin turned a bizarre greenish-purple, and beneath it, blood vessels crisscrossed like countless wriggling earthworms, a terrifying sight.
Even so, their gazes remained fixed on the slowly closing gate ahead.
Only when the last sliver of moonlight was blocked by the thick metal door did the flames of hope in the Vampire’s and the Sickly Person’s eyes extinguish, along with their last vestiges of life.
The Warden Captain completely sealed the door and finally breathed a sigh of relief. Through the glass, he could see yellow smoke filling the area behind the door, making it impossible to discern the fate of the two escaping prisoners.
The door had excellent sealing properties, so he wasn’t worried about the unknown yellow gas leaking out.
Suddenly, he remembered something and turned back to look for the person from the Zhao family who had come for a visit.
He knew that the escape of these two prisoners must have been related to someone from the Zhao family.
However, Su Ze had already run far away. After exiting the Containment Zone, he headed straight for the large iron gate of the Rock Prison. He knew that with such a disturbance, the guards of the Rock Prison would not let him leave.
At the same time, he speculated that the Zhao family would not be at ease sending Zhao Lingxiao alone and would have arranged for reinforcements.
He had to use the Zhao family’s power to escape.
Even when planning his escape, Su Ze had already considered what would happen after breaking out of prison.
He was different from the Vampire and the Sickly Person. For him, escaping prison was not just about leaving the Rock Prison, but also about leaving his current predicament and being able to live normally in this world.
His current identities, both as Zhao Lingxiao and as a Clone, were illegitimate and could not be revealed.
Without a legal identity or significant strength, he would be completely stuck in this world. Even if he escaped the Rock Prison, it would be like escaping a small prison only to enter a larger one.
Su Ze knew very well that the only ones who could help him in this matter were the Zhao family, so he had to kill Zhao Lingxiao and replace him!
At this moment, seeing Su Ze about to run out of the prison gate, the Warden Captain decisively pursued him.
The speed of a Cocoon Breaking stage expert was vastly superior to Su Ze’s. In the blink of an eye, the captain caught up.
Just as Su Ze was about to be captured by the Warden Captain, the captain suddenly stopped and looked towards the outside of the prison gate. There, standing, was a figure as imposing as a tower.
“Butterfly Transformation stage!”
A Butterfly Transformation stage life form that had Evolved thrice exuded immense pressure on the Warden Captain just by standing there.
“Step aside,” the tower-like man said slowly.
The Warden Captain had an unwilling expression, but he dared not say anything more. He quietly retreated a few steps, watching helplessly as the other party took Su Ze away.
“If only the Warden were here, I wouldn’t have to fear him!” the Warden Captain gritted his teeth.
Normally, the Warden of the Rock Prison lived in the administrative area and only returned home on holidays. However, last night, he had accepted an invitation to a banquet from Zhao Yu, which happened to be near his home. After the banquet, he went home.
Thinking back now, it was all arranged by Zhao Yu.
…
“Uncle Tie,” Su Ze called out to the tower-like man before him, imitating Zhao Lingxiao’s tone. He subtly removed his torn mask.
The man’s name was Zhang Fantie, a Butterfly Transformation stage expert and currently the Zhao family’s top fighter.
In his youth, Zhang Fantie was exceptionally talented but came from a poor family. Zhao Yu noticed him, recruited him into the Zhao family as a security guard, and provided him with cultivation and support.
Zhang Fantie proved himself capable, completing his third Evolution before the age of forty. He was deeply grateful to Zhao Yu and remained loyal.
Zhang Fantie held a high position in the Zhao family; even Zhao Lingxiao had to call him “Uncle Tie.”
“Was there an accident?” Zhang Fantie asked expressionlessly.
Su Ze nodded and said, “There was a slight accident, but fortunately, I was well-prepared and succeeded in killing the imposter.”
“Are you injured?”
“No.”
Zhang Fantie nodded slightly and led Su Ze to the roadside, where a discreet black car was parked.
“Get in. The Minister is still waiting for us.”
Su Ze got into the back seat, and Zhang Fantie took the driver’s seat, starting the car and driving away from the entrance of the Rock Prison.
It was around two in the morning, and the Rock Prison was located in the suburbs. There wasn’t a soul on the road, only their car driving on the wide street.
Zhang Fantie was an excellent driver, his car moving fast yet steadily. Su Ze gazed out the window at the receding Rock Prison, a sense of relief washing over him.
This escape had gone remarkably smoothly; at least, the outcome was as he had wished.
As he had told Zhao Lingxiao before, he believed that those who were innocent deserved redemption, and those who were guilty deserved punishment.
Now, three guilty individuals had perished in that iron coffin, and he, an innocent person, had successfully escaped.
From the beginning, Su Ze had no intention of letting the Vampire and the Sickly Person out.
Although Su Ze didn’t consider himself a noble person, he was unwilling to release two perverts to wreak havoc on the world unless absolutely necessary.
Speaking of which, without the compressed poison gas brought by Zhao Lingxiao, I might have been able to keep the Vampire and the Sickly Person contained, but I definitely wouldn’t have been able to kill them… Su Ze recalled the yellow gas with a lingering sense of dread. If Zhao Lingxiao had been ruthless and used the yellow gas against him from the start, he would have had no chance of survival.
As soon as Su Ze discovered the yellow compressed poison gas in the glass bottle, he recognized it. It was likely a biological toxin extracted from a Third-tier Exotic Beast, as the yellow color corresponded to the color of the Third-tier Evolutionary Light.
Third-tier Exotic Beasts corresponded to Human Evolvers in their third stage, the Butterfly Transformation stage. Their toxins could pose a fatal threat to Cocoon Breaking stage life forms.
Huh?
With an unintentional glance, Su Ze noticed a black handbag placed on the neighboring seat.
Zhao Lingxiao’s bag!
