Chapter 13: What Kind of Man Does She Truly Love?
It took Yeyun Ye a full two hours to be moved out of critical condition.
Yuxun Xia emerged from the operating room drenched in sweat.
“Hand over the surgery for patient bed 16 to Doctor An.”
As Yuxun Xia spoke, he turned and walked into the ward. Worried that Yeyun Ye might experience other adverse reactions, he decided to personally stay and watch over her.

“The child is fine.” Seeing Yeyun Ye jump like a startled bird, Yuxun Xia held her close, comforting her softly. “Yeyun, your body will get better too.”
At that moment, the ward door opened.
“Sister, what are you doing?” Jingxian Xiang’s voice, a mix of shock and anger, cut through the air. “You and Xiuqi aren’t even divorced yet, how could you do something like this?” Her tone was filled with disappointment towards Yeyun Ye.
The latter words were like adding fuel to the fire. Xiuqi Chi looked mockingly at the two people who separated upon his arrival.
“Yeyun Ye, you truly can’t stand being alone.”
Xiuqi Chi’s expression was icy, his black suit making him appear particularly unapproachable. He strode forward, roughly grabbing Yuxun Xia by the collar and unceremoniously flinging him out of the ward.
Yuxun Xia had no room to resist at all.
“Yuxun!”
Yeyun Ye’s voice was cut off by the closing door.
Hearing Yeyun Ye call Yuxun Xia so intimately, Xiuqi Chi unhappily pinched her jaw. “It seems your relationship with him is more than just ordinary. Are you still not admitting the child in your belly is his?”
Being spoken to like this by Xiuqi Chi in front of Jingxian Xiang made Yeyun Ye’s already numb heart ache again. Her face turned pale, and she bit her lip tightly. “The child is yours.”
Xiuqi Chi let out a cold laugh. “What did you say?”
Yeyun Ye clenched her fists. “Xiuqi Chi, I have never been with another man. This child has always been yours.”

“Don’t you want to prove it? Then I’ll give you the chance to prove it!” Xiuqi Chi waved his hand, and several bodyguards behind him stepped forward, preparing to wheel Yeyun Ye’s bed away. But Yuxun Xia, standing beside her, firmly blocked them.
“Xiuqi Chi! Are you even human? A C-section, that’s practically asking for Yeyun’s life!” Yuxun Xia’s eyes reddened as he spoke, his voice almost hysterical. “Even if you don’t believe her, you can’t do this!”
Yeyun Ye, sitting on the hospital bed, suddenly gave a bitter smile. “So, you just want this child to die, don’t you?”
“From finding someone to make me abort, to now asking me to have a C-section, what you want is for this child to die, isn’t it?” As she spoke, Yeyun Ye’s eyes became somewhat manic. “Since that’s the case, Xiuqi Chi, I’ll grant your wish.”
Saying this, Yeyun Ye pulled out the IV drip beside her and prepared to stab it into her lower abdomen. But before she could, a pair of strong hands firmly grasped hers. “What do you mean by that?”
The speaker was none other than Xiuqi Chi.
“Xiuqi Chi, am I wrong? When have you ever wanted this child to live? Haven’t you always treated him as a bastard? Then I’ll take him out and show you, show you if your child is a bastard!” Yeyun Ye struggled to exert force, but the man’s grip was equally strong.

“Mr. Chi! Miss Xiang has fainted!” a bodyguard shouted anxiously.
As soon as the words fell, Xiuqi Chi snatched the IV drip from Yeyun Ye’s hand. “Watch her. Don’t let her try to die anymore.” Saying this, he picked up the fainted Jingxian Xiang. “Yeyun Ye, look at the mess you’ve made. Constantly talking about dying, frightening Jingxian like this!”

Xiuqi Chi carried Jingxian Xiang away, ordered Yuxun Xia to be thrown out of the ward, and had people continue to monitor Yeyun Ye, then left.
