**Chapter 7: Hold on Tight**
Hearing Xiuqi Chi’s voice, Yeyun Ye instinctively flinched.
Catching a glimpse of Yeyun Ye’s fear, Xiuqi Chi’s already soured mood, thanks to Yuxun Xia’s words, worsened further.
Ignoring the surprise in Yuxun Xia’s eyes, he walked directly to Yeyun Ye, looked at her face, and sneered, “Stop pretending. I haven’t even done anything yet.”
As he spoke, Xiuqi Chi, disregarding Yuxun Xia’s presence, moved to Yeyun Ye’s side. One hand covered her lower abdomen, while the other slowly caressed Yeyun Ye’s already pale lips in a domineering manner.
“Xiuqi Chi… what do you want to do?” Yeyun Ye asked, her face guarded, cornered and forced to speak.
Hearing Yeyun Ye call him by name, Xiuqi Chi lowered his head and let out a soft, chilling laugh.
Despite the warm summer night, the atmosphere suddenly felt frigid.
Without answering Yeyun Ye, Xiuqi Chi turned to look at the still-present Yuxun Xia, his brow furrowing with impatience. “Are you staying to watch what I’m about to do to her?”
This question from Xiuqi Chi jolted Yuxun Xia into reacting, “Yeyun isn’t feeling well. You can’t…”
“I don’t want to hear you say ‘Yeyun’ again,” Xiuqi Chi’s eyes glinted with malice. “Wang An, throw him out.”
Before Yuxun Xia could regain his senses, a tall, well-built bodyguard in a black suit entered. Without a word, he seized Yuxun Xia by the arm and forcibly dragged him out.
The hospital room door closed, yet Yeyun Ye felt as though she could still hear Yuxun Xia’s struggles.
Seeing Yeyun Ye’s concern for Yuxun Xia, Xiuqi Chi’s grip on her tightened, his actions growing rougher. “Instead of worrying about him, you should think about what to do with the life inside your belly.”
The thought of what might have happened between Yeyun Ye and Yuxun Xia in his absence made Xiuqi Chi exceptionally agitated.
The woman in his arms remained silent, her breathing becoming more rapid. She clutched Xiuqi Chi’s arm, her mouth opening, but no sound came out. As she fainted, Xiuqi Chi roughly threw her aside.
“What are you pretending now?” Seeing Yeyun Ye’s eyes closed and her brows furrowed in discomfort, Xiuqi Chi impatiently pushed her shoulder. “Get up quickly, or I’ll throw you out!”
Xiuqi Chi’s tone was fierce, but he saw no reaction from Yeyun Ye after he spoke.
Realizing belatedly that Yeyun Ye had genuinely fainted, Xiuqi Chi paused for a few seconds before cursing.
“Wang An! Go get the Doctor!”
Shortly after, Xiuqi Chi stood outside the hospital room, his fury escalating as he saw Yuxun Xia entering, kicking a trash can.
*Does this hospital only have doctors named Xia?*
The nurse, facing the handsome man’s menacing glare, bit back her urge to say, “This is a hospital, please be quiet.”
After performing a comprehensive examination on Yeyun Ye again, Yuxun Xia breathed a sigh of relief, confirming that she had fainted due to extreme emotional fluctuation and was out of danger.
Yuxun Xia emerged from the room and, seeing the man with a dark expression outside, hesitated several times before approaching him.
Xiuqi Chi lazily lifted his eyelids, looking at Yuxun Xia’s distressed face, and his brow furrowed slightly. “Is she dead?”
If not for the man’s status, Yuxun Xia’s clenched fists would have already landed a blow.
“Yeyun’s condition is still poor, and she’s Pregnant. Can you stop bullying her again and again? Mr. Chi, if you don’t like Yeyun, there are others who are willing to take care of her!”
Only he knew the courage it took for Yuxun Xia to say those words.
Xiuqi Chi looked at Yuxun Xia, not immediately responding, but gazing down the empty corridor. With a scoff, he grabbed Yuxun Xia by the collar and threw him against the wall.
Yuxun Xia grunted from the force of the impact.
Before he could say anything, he heard Xiuqi Chi’s cold voice.
“Didn’t I tell you not to say ‘Yeyun’ again?” Looking at Yuxun Xia’s disheveled state, Xiuqi Chi found it amusing. He raised his other hand and mockingly patted Yuxun Xia’s face. “My things, even if I don’t want them, nobody else can touch. If you want to continue working at this hospital, you’d best stay away from Yeyun Ye, or else…”
Xiuqi Chi paused, his gaze fixed on Yuxun Xia’s hands, a cruel smile on his face. “I’ll find someone to break your hands.”
Without giving Yuxun Xia any chance to react, Xiuqi Chi tossed him aside like trash and, without another glance, entered the hospital room.
Unlike before, the hospital room now smelled strongly of disinfectant.
Looking at the pale face of the woman on the bed, Xiuqi Chi felt a flicker of concern.
Realizing his emotions, Xiuqi Chi quickly left the room.
*It’s because Yeyun’s face resembles Jingxian’s that I keep softening my heart.*
“Stay here and watch her. Call me when she wakes up,” Xiuqi Chi said, taking a few steps before stopping again to look at Wang An. “Don’t let her see Yuxun Xia again.”
Wang An nodded. “Don’t worry, Mr. Chi.”
Xiuqi Chi checked his watch, realizing he was close to his appointment with Jingxian Xiang. After instructing his assistant to prepare some tonics, he headed to Jingxian Xiang’s apartment.
Jingxian Xiang had only recently returned to the country, and her family disapproved of her association with Xiuqi Chi, forcing her to live in a modest apartment.
Xiuqi Chi had wanted Jingxian Xiang to move in with him, but she refused, citing that Yeyun Ye had lived there and it would upset her.
The thought that it was his fault filled Xiuqi Chi with guilt and pity for Jingxian Xiang.
If not for his ongoing marital relationship with Yeyun Ye, Jingxian Xiang wouldn’t have ended up in this situation.
Jingxian Xiang heard the doorbell and, upon opening the door to see Xiuqi Chi, happily embraced him. “Xiuqi, I’ve been waiting for you.”
A foreign scent and warmth filled his embrace. Xiuqi Chi stiffened unnaturally for a moment. However, hearing Jingxian Xiang’s joyous and expectant tone, he adjusted his demeanor, returned her hug briefly, and then pulled away.
“Something delayed me on the road. Let’s go now.”
Xiuqi Chi’s voice was as gentle as ever. Jingxian Xiang didn’t notice anything amiss, smiling and nodding as she linked her arm through his.
This time, she would hold onto Xiuqi Chi firmly!
