Chapter 4 Uncle Ye is dead!
What was said made Xiuqi Chi glare at Yeyun Ye, wishing he could kill her.
“Xiuqi Chi, do you really believe her?” Yeyun Ye said coldly, looking into Xiuqi Chi’s eyes. “Yesterday she was so weak she needed a blood transfusion, and today she can run to my room. Don’t you think that’s strange?”
Upon hearing this, Jingxian Xiang, who was in Xiuqi Chi’s arms, was also taken aback.
Xiuqi Chi slowly loosened his embrace and looked down at Jingxian Xiang. Her complexion was indeed much better than Yeyun Ye’s.
“Yeyun, how could you suspect me like this?” Jingxian Xiang’s tears fell. “I came to give you your ultrasound report! You’re more than two months pregnant! This child isn’t Xiuqi Chi’s, I know that, but I was afraid Xiuqi would misunderstand you if he knew…”
Two months?! Impossible! She was clearly only five weeks pregnant!
But before she could finish speaking, Jingxian Xiang produced the report. It clearly stated a two-month pregnancy.
Two months ago, Xiuqi Chi had gone abroad to bring Jingxian Xiang back. They hadn’t seen each other at all. How could she be pregnant?!
“No… no… the child is Xiuqi’s!” Yeyun Ye was stunned. She didn’t want Xiuqi Chi to misunderstand her again.
Xiuqi Chi didn’t look at her. Instead, he scooped up Jingxian Xiang and said, “Jingxian, don’t get angry over irrelevant people. I’ll take you back to your room. You need to rest well now.”
With that, he carried her out of Yeyun Ye’s room.
Yeyun Ye was left standing there, stunned.
Not long after, Xiuqi Chi returned to the room, followed by several doctors.
“Yeyun Ye, do you know what happens to those who betray me?” Xiuqi Chi slowly approached, his voice devoid of any warmth.
“I haven’t betrayed you!” Yeyun Ye’s eyes reddened, full of grievance. “This child is really yours!”
If it were in the past, Xiuqi Chi might have felt pity for Yeyun Ye. But now, thinking of her sleeping with another man and having a child, he was almost losing his mind.
He reminded himself that this was merely a man’s pride at play.
Since Yeyun Ye had hurt his pride and hurt the person he loved, she had to pay the price.
“Proceed,” Xiuqi Chi said to the people behind him.
The medical staff stepped forward and held Yeyun Ye. Their faces were expressionless.
Yeyun Ye couldn’t resist and was unable to move. She trembled all over. “Xiuqi Chi, what exactly are you going to do?!”
“I’m going to let you know the price of betraying me.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Yeyun Ye heard medical staff approaching with a full syringe of oxygen.
Yeyun Ye knew that injecting oxygen would kill a person!
Did Xiuqi Chi hate herself this much?
“Mr. Chi… are you… really going to do this?” The medical staff’s hands were also trembling.
“When have I ever gone back on my word?” Xiuqi Chi said, looking down at Yeyun Ye on the hospital bed with an indifferent gaze, as if looking at a stranger.
“No… don’t…”
Yeyun Ye knew she wasn’t afraid of dying, but of something happening to the child in her belly. However, the moment the needle pierced her skin, the pain made her unable to utter a sound.
Suffocation… dizziness…
Her consciousness grew hazy…
Her eyes felt heavier and heavier.
After what felt like a long time, the suffocating, oppressive feeling finally disappeared. Yeyun Ye’s eyes snapped open, as if waking from a nightmare. She cried out, “No!”
But upon waking, she was still met with Xiuqi Chi’s cold face.
“How do you feel?”
His voice, like that of a hellish messenger, made Yeyun Ye, who had just skirted death, tremble uncontrollably.
The man still approached her, his large hand suddenly gripping her chin. He said, “Speak, who was that man?”
“I never had any other man.” Perhaps having just experienced near-death, Yeyun Ye’s heart had turned to ashes. Her voice now carried a coldness.
“Won’t you speak?” Xiuqi Chi’s brows furrowed in anger. “Do you want to go through it again?”
“Just kill me,” the woman said softly.
“What did you say?!” Xiuqi Chi’s voice was filled with emotion. “Yeyun Ye, do you really think I wouldn’t dare?!”
“Just kill me. I really don’t want this life anymore…” Yeyun Ye’s despairing words were forcefully silenced by Xiuqi Chi’s kiss.
Xiuqi Chi didn’t know why, but every time he got close to Yeyun Ye, he couldn’t help himself.
He kept telling himself that it was just because her face looked so much like Jingxian Xiang’s that he felt this way…
Yeyun Ye struggled, but after just waking up, she lacked the strength.
So, she pulled out the IV needle from her wrist. The man noticed her small movement and was about to grab the hand she was about to use against herself, when he saw Yeyun Ye violently stab herself in the wrist…
Xiuqi Chi let go of Yeyun Ye.
“You…”
“You should leave, Xiuqi Chi.” Yeyun Ye couldn’t help but shed tears. She hated herself for being so pathetic even now, unable to bear hurting Xiuqi Chi, only daring to hurt herself. “Please let me go, okay?”
Seeing the blood on Yeyun Ye’s wrist dyeing the sheets red, Xiuqi Chi quickly pressed the doctor’s call button and asked for someone to bandage her.
Xiuqi Chi couldn’t believe that Yeyun Ye, who had refused to divorce him just a few days ago, was now asking him to leave?
She had betrayed him, and yet she wanted him to leave?
But why did his heart ache at her words?
“Just tell me who that man is, and I’ll…”
“You’ll what? You’ll believe me? Or you’ll love me?” Yeyun Ye sneered. “Xiuqi Chi, let’s stop lying to ourselves.”
Yeyun Ye’s indifferent words stirred wave after wave in Xiuqi Chi’s heart. Just as he was about to say something else, he heard a knock on the door. “Mr. Chi, Miss Xiang is awake and says she wants to see you.”
“Got it, I’m coming.” Xiuqi Chi glanced at Yeyun Ye. Her wound had been bandaged, but her eyes no longer looked at him.
He clenched his fist, turned, and left the room.
Yeyun Ye finally broke down in tears.
She knew Xiuqi Chi would still go to Jingxian Xiang. One word from her could overturn everything, so Yeyun Ye no longer wanted to struggle.
Looking at her bandaged wound, Yeyun Ye asked the medical staff to leave, then rolled out of bed and left the hospital.
She decided to return to the Welfare home. Now that she had been driven out by Xiuqi Chi and lost her job, she had nowhere to go and could only return to the home of her childhood.
But before she reached the entrance of the Welfare home, she saw a group of people gathered together.
“I heard the director owed money, so he committed suicide.”
