Chapter 11: Demon Slaying
Hiss, hiss.
Hiss, hiss, hiss.
The Bear Demon’s panting was as rough as a bellows, yet it dared not breathe too deeply. Its left and right paws worked in unison, tearing through the tall grass of the jungle in its desperation, stumbling and scrambling forward.
Its wounds were already a bloody mess, its fur matted with dirt, broken wood, shredded vines, and grass juice.
It kept looking back.
Each time, it accurately fixed its gaze on Ning Xuan’s location.
Ning Xuan held the Beast Slaying Blade at an angle, following at a leisurely pace.
But upon confirming that the Bear Demon could still sense him even in this state, he shouted from afar in a hoarse voice, “Stupid! Your life is your own, the enemy is your boss’s, why aren’t you running back quickly?”
The little Bear Demon couldn’t speak, but it understood.
It felt that it made sense.
It had been hesitating whether to bring this terrifying great enemy back to their lair.
But now, it no longer hesitated.
It adjusted its direction, landing on all fours, and began to accelerate towards the depths of this old mountain.
Ning Xuan tightened his grip on the Beast Slaying Blade and followed.
After the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, the little Bear Demon seemed to have reached a safe area and roared with all its might, “Awooo!”
After roaring, it collapsed to the ground with a “thud.”
Several colossal figures first rushed out of the dark cave. After crawling out, they stood upright, casting fierce gazes towards a certain spot.
There, Ning Xuan stood on a high mountain that the Bear Demons couldn’t immediately attack.
He had followed the little Bear Demon until he was close enough, then slightly changed course and ascended a nearby “high mountain that could overlook the scenery of the lowlands.”
he was merely looking for the Bear Demons’ lair, observing, and then testing the strength of their experts before deciding his next move.
Although he hadn’t heard Han Ba’s “standard bandit siege theory,” he still knew about probing.
If these Bear Demons were outrageously strong and numerous, he would give up on all thoughts and return to the county to assess the situation. If things turned for the worse, he would immediately lead the people of Ning Manor to flee. If the situation didn’t allow him to take the people of Ning Manor, he would pack his gold and silver, stuff his bag with banknotes, and then flee with his mother on his back.
His mother gave birth to him and raised him; he could never abandon her at any time.
As for Han Ba and the others, Ning Xuan didn’t hold much hope for them. After all, the weapons used by Han and the others were still within the scope of normal martial artists’ understanding, such as “Pear Blossom Needles” and “Rapid-fire Crossbow.”
These weapons could harm the Mountain Crushing Bear Demons, but it would be difficult.
Because those sharp weapons could only be effective when the Mountain Crushing Bear Demons were “in a relatively stationary state and facing the shooter,” otherwise, no matter how many arrows were shot, they would be like shooting at an iron wall, completely useless.
In his Nightmare, he had tried repeatedly, discovered the hanging basket, and with the advantage of the轮回先知 (Reincarnation Prophet), only then did he succeed.
Of course, Han Ba and the others might also possess so-called “supernatural powers.”
However, judging from their level of vigilance and the number of dead bodies exposed in the county yesterday, even if Han Ba and the others had that power, it might not be enough.
He didn’t want to pin his life and death entirely on others.
Therefore, he had to try.
He had to try with all his might, with utmost seriousness.
After this one attempt, he would know whether he could fight.
From the heights, the young man’s eyes flickered with uncertainty.
Below, the few standing Bear Demons were also staring at him fiercely.
Suddenly, the standing Bear Demons moved aside, and a rumbling sound echoed from the dark cave, one after another.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Like drumbeats pounding on one’s heart.
Soon, a colossal black bear, about ten feet tall, walked out from within.
This black bear was taller, bigger, and stronger than all the other Bear Demons!
In its left hand, it still gripped half a human body. It held the person by the leg, and the body had been roughly torn apart. Half of the neck was connected to half a head, and the bulging eyeballs still held intense fear. The clothes were not completely torn off, and from the figure, one could still tell that she was a beauty in life.
The cut at the neck and head was quite smooth, not as rough as the torn body parts.
Ning Xuan’s gaze fell upon the blade-like sharp claws of the black bear.
His pupils contracted slightly.
After the black bear stabilized itself, the Bear Demons beside it whispered respectfully.
After listening, the black bear threw aside the half-human body and glanced at Ning Xuan’s location.
Man and demon faced each other across the distance, with a solemn atmosphere akin to a pre-battle duel between generals.
Suddenly, the black bear stomped the ground with one claw.
The ground let out a loud “bang,” and with a violent tremor, the black bear transformed into a black whirlwind, merged with the sound of thunder, and charged towards Ning Xuan.
If anyone else were present, they wouldn’t even be able to clearly see the black bear’s appearance. They would only see the trees in the jungle outside the cave, regardless of their height or thickness, snapping like dry twigs, and rocks, regardless of their size, being completely crushed.
It was a whirlwind of dust, a whirlwind of black dust carrying the might of thunder.
In the black bear’s eyes, that strange human youth seemed to have been stunned.
It was getting closer and closer.
Its innate demonic technique was such that even those of the same level couldn’t directly resist it.
And just as it entered the ten-step range of the human, the youth suddenly moved. This movement gave it a dizzying, unbelievable feeling.
The youth’s speed was not only extremely fast, but also extremely precise.
The youth’s body moved backward at an unbelievable angle, as if he were falling backward.
He was not only falling but also retreating while falling.
His feet seemed to be coated in oil.
The black bear paid no mind; its innate demonic technique didn’t care what kind of opponent it was. As long as it collided, the opponent would surely collapse!!
“Roar!”
With a roar, the black bear pressed closer.
The youth retreated continuously.
Suddenly, the youth’s footsteps slowed, as if he had tripped over something.
A playful look appeared in the black bear’s eyes. Then, seizing the opportunity, the black bear drew its arms back like a taut bow, its two claws descending from above, leaping fiercely towards the youth!
Its eyes were ferocious, its claws menacing, and there were still remnants of human flesh and blood stuck to its lips.
This was the fiercest attack of a ferocious beast hunting by instinct.
And at this very moment, the youth in its eyes suddenly stopped completely.
With this stop, the youth’s figure spun back like a top in a few steps. At the same time, his speed instantly reached its maximum, and the long saber in his hand was also pointed upwards against the wind.
The black bear sneered, its split melon seeds of teeth dripping with saliva.
The innate demonic technique of its bear body was unleashed!
It pressed down towards the saber.
But the expected sight of “the saber shattering inch by inch” did not happen.
The black bear suddenly felt a cold, tearing sensation.
The saber had shattered its innate demonic technique and sliced through its thick, impenetrable hide. It pierced through the bear’s paw and then thrust upwards, instantly piercing into its skull.
The tip of the saber transmitted a familiar power, the power of its innate demonic technique, “Bear Demon’s Innate Technique: Bear’s Might Crushing the Mountain.”
The small saber tip was using this power, and it was even more condensed, sharper, and more terrifying.
The black bear’s tiny, bean-like pupils showed disbelief, confusion, and fear.
In a flash, its incredibly hard skull felt an extremely strong shattering sensation, followed by a sharp pain in its head.
THUMP!!
Ning Xuan’s saber diagonally pierced through the black bear.
He held the saber with one arm, lifting the bear.
The saber passed through the black bear’s paw and head, its tip protruding from the back of its skull, drawing out a dazzling spurt of blood. Then, a large amount of brain matter and fragments of skull flew out together.
