Chapter 317

Chapter 317. Family Dynamics

“Ning Chu, you help your sister with her homework and correct her assignments.”

“Okay~”

After dinner, Hei Dou dragged a small stool to sit by the coffee table, holding a pencil in her right hand, looking fretful as she stared at her exercise book.

She was just an innocent little kitten, how could she possibly have homework to do?

Hei Dou’s learning ability was impressive; even when she was just a cat, she used to imitate her roommate jumping up to open the door. She was so small that she couldn’t jump high enough to reach the doorknob.

Now that she had become a catgirl, it only took her a few months to master the second-grade curriculum and she was already starting to learn third-grade concepts like calculating perimeter.

Ning Chu initially thought teaching her would raise her blood pressure, but to her surprise, aside from the slightly crooked and ugly handwriting that looked like a ghost’s paintings, everything else was quite good.

“Should I buy you a calligraphy exercise book to practice your writing?” Ning Chu whispered from behind Hei Dou.

“I’ve already started using one!”

She affectionately patted Hei Dou’s head. “Once you finish your homework, I’ll treat you to bubble tea!”

“Okay!”

While dealing with Hei Dou, her gaze wandered back to the dining table.

Their mother was propping her chin on her hand, eyes softened as she continually looked at Uncle, who was sipping white wine and complaining about work issues while munching on leftovers.

With the two siblings out of the way, Uncle seemed much more relaxed, raising his voice slightly as he grumbled about not having money to pay wages.

After listening for a bit, it seemed like the client had delayed payment, and with the New Year approaching, Uncle was rushing around trying to gather money to pay his workers.

Mother didn’t comfort Uncle; she just smiled, occasionally pouring him another glass of wine.

The scene at the dining table was quite harmonious.

“Sis! I’m done! Help me check it!”

Hei Dou suddenly tugged at Ning Chu’s sleeve, pulling her attention back from the dining table.

She picked up a red pen and took a quick glance at Hei Dou’s exercise book. “Pretty impressive.”

“Of course!” Hei Dou proudly lifted her little head.

“Not just good at eating, right? Any other assignments?”

“I have to memorize something, but Dad is so noisy.”

Ning Chu didn’t mind Hei Dou calling Uncle “Dad” as long as she didn’t call her “Mom,” or it would get confusing. “Go to Mom’s room and study. Memorize it, then come find me.”

“Okay~”

Watching Hei Dou wag her tail as she ran into the master bedroom, Ning Chu stretched and walked toward the second bedroom.

She glanced at Ning Yuan, who was on the bed playing with his phone, casually closed the door, and sat down in front of the computer. “Bro, why do you always look so sleepy? Kidney deficiency?”

“You wake up at seven-thirty every day and come home at nine, and you don’t look energetic either.” Ning Yuan sighed heavily. “Every time it’s time to rest, I don’t even want to get out of bed, I’m exhausted. I bought a bunch of games but have no mood to play.”

“Uh… why don’t you lend me your account? I’ll help you play?”

“……”

Ning Yuan flipped over, ignoring her and continued scrolling on his phone.

“Selfish~”

She muttered as she opened the computer, resting her chin in her hand, preparing to find a video to watch.

On Wen Yang’s side, who knew what he had for lunch; he hadn’t started looking for a job… she didn’t text him to ask, as they had only been apart for a few hours. She didn’t want to come off as too clingy.

“Ning Chu, you…” Ning Yuan’s voice suddenly sounded from behind her.

“Hmm?”

His tone was hesitant, pausing for a moment before awkwardly looking away. “Even though you’re an adult now, it’s your first relationship… don’t be foolish and give yourself away completely, or you’ll regret it before you know it.”

Ning Chu immediately understood what Ning Yuan was getting at.

He was worried she might get fooled by Wen Yang and lose both her love and her body.

Although her brother knew she was a succubus, he clearly still saw her as a sister, even possibly considering her a younger brother.

“I know, I’m not stupid.”

“Yeah, not stupid.”

“I was a man before, okay? I know what men are like.”

Ning Chu shot him a glare, but just then her expression suddenly changed, and her gaze turned wary.

But wait, her brother was a man too…

“Wait! What do you mean by that look?!”

“I remember when you were in high school, you used to tell me every day after watching ‘Little Sister’ that you were a sister complex…”

“I’m not one of those people who can’t tell reality from the fictional world!”

Ning Yuan sat up abruptly, cursing under pressure.

Indeed, many people claim to have a sister complex, but if they actually had a sister they grew up with, they’d usually just find them annoying, completely lacking any strange thoughts.

But the thing is, to Ning Yuan, Ning Chu felt more like a miraculous little sister…

Moreover, based on Wen Yang’s experience, being in a closed space with a succubus meant men could easily develop physical reactions and filthy thoughts because of the hormones emitted by succubi.

And right now, with the doors and windows shut tight, the succubi’s allure could reach its peak.

She definitely didn’t want anything like an “X” incident happening to her!

“Get out!” She pointed at the door firmly, putting on a serious face, “You’re not allowed in this room from now on.”

Ning Yuan’s face flushed with anger. “This is my room!”

“Not anymore since yesterday.” Ning Chu rolled her eyes at her brother. “I’m just trying to help you keep your thoughts straight. A little distance is good for both of us.”

“Neurotic!”

Flustered, Ning Yuan got up and left. Just as he walked out the door, he heard the sound of the lock clicking behind him.

That made him even angrier.

Though he understood, he couldn’t help but feel frustrated at Ning Chu’s gaze, which seemed to regard him like a thief.

“What’s wrong? Did you two have a fight?”

Their mother, having vaguely heard the noise from the second bedroom, turned her attention from Uncle and glanced at her eldest son. “You’re an adult, and you’re still fighting? Can’t you be a little kinder to your sister?”

The anger quickly dissipated as Ning Yuan collapsed helplessly onto the sofa. “Mom, am I never going to have a room to myself again? Am I just stuck sleeping on the floor?”

“The house is just crowded right now~ You don’t come home often anyway, just deal with it for now.” Mother smiled gently, “Once your sister starts school, that room will be yours again. It’s just for a month.”

“I feel like I was just picked up by you.”

Mother gasped in surprise, covering her mouth. “Oh my! How did you know?”

“Give me a break.”

In the second bedroom, Ning Chu felt extremely relieved that she had just kicked Ning Yuan out.

Curled up in bed, she bit her red lip, afraid to make a sound. Her eyes lost focus, shimmering with a glimmer of moisture.

Her skin was tinged with a bright blush, her breathing much heavier and her body felt on fire.

After holding out for so long, she finally let out a deep sigh of relief.

But even with that, she still felt hot flashes, and her mind was still cluttered with unwanted thoughts.

“Wen Yang, stop looking for a job and come back to the apartment. I have an emergency.”

Ning Chu sent a message, suddenly sitting up, tidying her disheveled clothes, and hurriedly rushed out of the room.

“Mom, I’m going out for a bit. I’ll be back tonight.”

“Where are you going? There’s some seafood left for you to eat.”

“Leave it for dinner. I’ll make seafood noodles.”

Ning Chu pushed open the front door. As the cold wind from the corridor hit her, her mind suddenly cleared a lot, she sighed helplessly.

I’m really falling apart…

I used to manage to hold out three times, but now I can’t even last once.
