Chapter 137

The Christos Law Country Faction

In front of the High Command

A massive procession of warhorses continued on, surrounding the center as if escorting some noble figure.

In the very center, a woman on a white horse raised her hand.

The procession came to a halt.

Then, they parted ways to give her space.

As the woman attempted to dismount, knights approached to assist her.

“I can do it myself, so it’s alright,” she said, raising her hand to stop them and gracefully dismounted from her horse.

In front of the High Command’s tent, several high-ranking officials waited.

“Welcome, Your Grace.”

Among them, a pink-haired Cardinal Dia stepped forward to greet the woman.

“Ah, Cardinal Dia. I hope you’ve been well.”

Lydia, the Pope of Christos Law Country, smiled and greeted her.

“Were there any inconveniences on your way?”

“Not at all. Rather, I wouldn’t have refused the pilgrimage to the Holy Temple for the Lord.”

“Please, come inside.”

Leading Lydia into the tent, Dia spoke.

“Cardinal Dia.”

“Yes, Your Grace.”

“I heard from a messenger that we’ve captured a general from the Isla Empire.”

“Yes, that’s correct. Three days ago, we encountered a dark elf general named Tirshirl on the battlefield. We subdued him and have confined him in a prison camp along with his magical powers and other abilities under restraint.”

“Indeed, Cardinal Dia, chosen by the Lord. I can’t believe you captured a general from the Isla Empire.”

Lydia expressed her amazement.

“Thanks to you, we can breathe a bit easier in this tense battle situation.”

“Not at all. I merely did what needed to be done.”

Seeing Dia’s humble demeanor, Lydia paused before speaking again.

“One hundred years ago, our Lord Luke said, ‘Among those born of a woman, no one is greater than Dia.'”

“Yes, that’s true.”

“I believe in the Lord who cherishes you, Cardinal. And I believe one day you will accomplish His great work.”

“That is…”

“Now, let’s discuss what lies ahead.”

As Dia twirled her finger thoughtfully, Lydia walked towards the conference table where a map lay.

“Ah, yes.”

Regaining her focus, Dia followed Lydia.

“Currently, the Christos Law Country is forming a battle front against the Isla Empire alongside our neighboring Katorikus Holy Kingdom. We have two lines of front established here and here.”

As she spoke, Lydia pointed at the locations on the map.

“Currently, the apostles from Katorikus are doing outstanding work holding back Isla’s offensive on their front line. Meanwhile, on ours, our Cardinal Dia has been performing admirably. However…”

She took a small note from her pocket.

“The reason I rushed to the High Command was specifically because of this.”

Dia unfolded the note handed by Lydia.

“This is news sent from one of our comrades operating within the Isla Empire.”

Dia read the contents of the note.

“So… the Emperor of the Isla Empire is directly leading the front lines now?”

“I couldn’t believe it when I first received the news either. However, after cross-referencing through multiple sources, it turned out to be true. Recently, Emperor Mahomet left his Imperial Palace, and by now, he should have already arrived at this front line.”

“I never thought the Emperor would come here…”

Dia muttered, taken aback.

“Then, if we manage to capture Mahomet, wouldn’t we have the chance to end this war?”

“Of course, that’s why I came here directly. All the Cardinals from the Holy See are currently moving this way. Once they gather, we’ll execute the operation to capture Emperor Mahomet.”

“So, that’s why despite us trying to dissuade you, you came anyway…”

“We may have spies in our ranks, so it was crucial to keep information from leaking. If the Cardinals leave and the Holy See’s defenses become weak, we have no idea what they might plot. Plus, Mahomet is a powerful warrior, one of the best among dark elves. We needed to pool all our forces to capture her.”

“Mahomet… her reputation for unifying the desert and expanding her power is well-known. It’s certainly a bold and risky strategy. But I believe it’s worth the effort.”

“However, the issue is… it’s uncertain whether she will head towards our front or Katorikus’s.”

“Your Grace, why don’t we consider executing a joint operation with Katorikus Holy Kingdom instead?”

“A joint operation, you say?”

Lydia looked surprised.

“Yes. At the beginning of the war, our two nations were not on good terms, so we operated separately, which did not synergize our warfare against the unified Isla. Therefore, we started to establish communication and coordinate our operations. It was also due to this change that General Tirshirl became active on the battlefield recently.”

“Hmm… a merger with Katorikus, huh? I’ve heard from Cardinal Sunny about this. Indeed, if we coordinate and direct Mahomet to one location, the chances of success would surely increase… Alright.”

Lydia, deep in thought, finally opened her eyes and spoke.

“I believe our Lord would want this as well. I should contact the Pope of Katorikus.”

Lydia made up her mind.

Setting aside a century of rivalry over whose actions were favored by the Lord, they were going to form a true partnership instead of a mere formal collaboration.

All for the victory of the Lord.

“Dia is a Cardinal of the Christos Law Country?”

“Yes, that’s correct. We recently met on the battlefield and conducted missions together.”

I can’t believe Dia has grown to be called ‘Baptist Dia’ and has become the strongest under Christos.

Considering she was the protagonist in Deus Ex Machina, it’s not surprising she would grow so strong.

Reflecting on how Lydia helped and nurtured Dia in her youth, the extent of her growth might be beyond imagination.

Dia showed incredible strength during the battle controlled by Lilith against Cronia.

What has changed in Dia after a century, I wonder?

Wait a minute.

If the Emperor of Isla, Mahomet, acted on the resolve instilled by the angelic vision I showed her—namely, Dia’s vision—then…

Wouldn’t she recognize the grown-up Dia?

The vision I presented to Mahomet within their inner world was Dia at the second arc.

If that’s the case…

Perhaps we might be able to stop this war after all.

However, for that to happen, several conditions must be met.

First, the current Dia must not differ greatly from the grown-up Dia I know.

Mahomet should see her, after all.

Moreover, Dia has to cooperate with me.

While Christos Law Country trusts me to an extent, it’s uncertain if I go to meet her, whether she will immediately cooperate.

Lastly…

Mahomet has to listen to me or Dia when we meet her.

The entire Islamic faction regards her as the sole prophet, so if I can win her over, we might halt the war.

If I can do this…

According to what Johanna told me about the current battlefield situation,

It means I could meet Dia if I head to the battlefield.

“Let’s go. To the battlefield.”

“I will follow.”

“Paulah, can you teleport us to the battlefield?”

“I think that’s possible. However, given I’m not well-versed in the current war situation, it might be better to go to a slightly distant location.”

“Got it. Let’s move out.”

With my disciples and friends from Calandra Academy,

Let’s see how they’ve changed.

And Mahomet.

Let’s put a stop to this meaningless war.

At the very bottom of Hell

– An Empire that defames Lord Luke. An Empire of Evil that persecutes the beloved lambs of Lord Luke.

Rumble…

The worst depths of Hell began to shake violently.

– Such an empire must… vanish, right?
