Chapter 189

Pastel glared at her father with fiery eyes.

Fiery.

Sizzling.

Grilled pork belly.

Huh!

Thinking back, there was something she had to do when she saw her father. She pointed at him and quickly turned to the Demon Lord.

“Demon Lord, let’s charge in! Give him a good whack!”

Her father, the pitiful scholar, would probably teeter on the brink of life and death from the Demon Lord’s super duper punch, but hey, isn’t it a bargain?

Yap yap!

Pasha pasha!

“Hmm?”

But the promised Demon Lord seemed flustered. With red eyes, he surveyed her father.

“Do I know this candidate? If he insists, I can do it, but it wouldn’t be wise to act like that in front of others. But seeing how you chat, he seems to have some influence. Though it looks like he bought it with money.”

Huh?

What does that mean?

She just asked the Demon Lord to punch her father, but they were completely out of sync.

“No, I mean, Dad is right there! I meant to say that I’m angry, so can you please hit him?”

The Demon Lord looked puzzled. He glanced at her father again and tilted his head slightly.

“That guy doesn’t look like he’s gained weight. More than that, his appearance is different. Young Craft, if you’re tired, it’s better to rest today.”

Huh?

What’s going on?

Pastel lowered her finger that was pointing at her father. She had no idea what was happening.

As she calmed her excited heart, she finally noticed something she hadn’t before.

A fairy was sitting on her father’s shoulder. A small fairy emanating black energy.

It looked almost identical to the Good Fairy.

Oh?

Seemingly bored, the fairy yawned. The merchant who was chatting with her father saw this and chuckled, offering a kind word.

Pastel perked up her ears, which were beyond human hearing.

“Your parrot is cute. Can it talk?”

The fairy glared at the merchant.

“What are you looking at, old man? Smells like your mouth is rotting, want to back off?”

“Oh! It can talk!”

The merchant exclaimed in admiration.

Since the fairy had a human appearance, she would normally have been offended by such words, but it seemed like he had found an amusing parrot who could curse instead.

Huh?

Is that person into hearing insults?

That couldn’t be true.

No matter how you looked at it, it felt like he was looking at a parrot. Mistaking a fairy for a parrot?

Could it possibly be that this fairy has some sort of ability?

Was her father being perceived as someone else?

Our house’s Good Fairy also knows how to make love charms! That made complete sense.

It felt odd. It was weird that her father was openly wearing the cult’s black robe. Even if the cult bribed a key figure, displaying it in public would be excessive.

This smells like a major incident.

“How boring. I’ll just fill my belly, so call me if you need anything.”

The fairy floated off her father’s shoulder and flew to a resting lounge. What a brazen display! Yet, no one found it strange that she looked like a parrot.

Huh.

Life was completely different from our Good Fairy who hides to avoid others.

“Demon Lord! Keep an eye on the candidate for me!”

“Don’t stray too far. If you sense anything dangerous, call me immediately.”

“Yes!”

Pastel dashed after her.

The lounge, set aside for guests to rest, could be entered through a soundproof door.

Peeking through the slightly open door, she saw chairs, tables, and sofas. There weren’t any people resting since the banquet had just begun. The fairy settled at a table as she searched for the perfect spot.

Pastel didn’t go inside but moved to a curtain near the window.

She glanced around the empty area and whispered softly.

“Fairy, fairy.”

“I was waiting!”

The fairy popped her head out from behind the curtain.

“Fairy, fairy! This is totally totally?”

Pastel’s eyes sparkled.

The fairy nodded.

“I told you, the cult has been capturing us fairies and using us as slaves.”

The fairy pointed at the lounge.

“That guy is definitely a poor victim! You, chosen by a good fairy like me, have the duty to liberate all the fairies!”

Of course!

Pastel felt as if she had discovered her destiny.

Having lost her mother and her father’s mind doing a complete 360-degree spin, he ended up developing a ridiculous hobby of playing with fairies in a meadow.

It was her fate to liberate the fairy world with the Good Fairy and remarry the evil father!

The salvation of the fairy world and the peace of her home!

Totally pinky pink!

Pastel felt a sense of mission.

“Fairy, hurry and go explain the situation to that poor fairy! Tell her the great ultimate Governor Pastel has arrived!”

“That title is too grand, but understood!”

The fairy flew off to the lounge.

Pastel watched nervously.

The cult’s fairy was munching on a gem she had taken from a pocket as if she’d found it in a corner. The cult certainly fed their members well; they were generously nibbling on gems worth their weight in gold.

The fairy approached her fellow fairy. The fairy’s eyes widened in surprise.

Hehe, I’ve come to rescue you~.

The fairy’s words of salvation continued.

“Hey! Hand that over to me!”

It was accompanied by pointing.

Huh.

The fairy hurriedly chewed the gem in her mouth. The gemstone went down her throat with a gulp.

The fairy shot a side-eye at the Good Fairy.

“What makes you think you can order me around?”

Huh.

The fairy world seemed to have a rather foul language for what she expected. The Good Fairy couldn’t possibly be bad, so it must be a cultural difference.

The fairy’s eyes gleamed.

“Oh wait, are you a loser? No special skills, so you were discarded by the cult?”

Laughter erupted.

The Good Fairy frowned.

“Who are you calling a loser! Do you think I’m a fool to carry around a confession of special skills like you?! I’m the great ultimate Good Fairy!”

The Good Fairy was a fast learner.

The other fairy stifled a laugh, covering her mouth.

“She says she’s a Good Fairy! Then am I the great ultimate Bad Fairy? Are you reading fairy tale books somewhere-”

A punch struck the fairy’s abdomen. The impact sent her flying and rolling on the ground.

The Good Fairy quickly snatched the gem pouch.

“Pathetic creature!”

The gem pouch was raised triumphantly.

“My victory!”

The black gem sparkled.

Wow.

The Good Fairy won!

The Good Fairy is amazing…!

Yay!

Pastel’s cheeks flushed red. She silently cheered enthusiastically.

Then she suddenly paused as if she forgot something.

The pink gem rolled away.

And then a realization dawned.

Huh.

Weren’t we here to rescue the fairy, not to take away her precious gem pouch?!

Oh my gosh!

The pink gem rolled again.

But could it be that this was a common occurrence in the fairy world? Since it was a culture that was rough with words, perhaps physical communication needed to come first.

That somehow made sense!

I’m super smart!

Wow.

“You!”

The fairy shot up.

“What the hell are you doing?! Punching a gentle coworker working to exterminate mankind! How can you even call yourself a coworker?!”

It was a voice filled with outrage.

Whoa.

Exterminate mankind?

Even the Good Fairy seemed taken aback by such a dramatic word, falling momentarily silent. She began to sweat and cast a sideways glance at Pastel, her eyes rolling.

Then she glared at the other fairy.

“What?! How can you devise such nonsense plans? As a Good Fairy, I absolutely cannot permit it!”

“What?”

The other fairy looked bewildered.

The Good Fairy’s finger pointed at her.

“You’ve been corrupted by the cult! To casually say things that a Good Fairy wouldn’t, you must have definitely become a Corrupted Fairy!”

Huh.

A Corrupted Fairy!

Just hearing it brings to mind something terrifying.

Like pineapple pizza!

Huh.

But pineapple pizza is delicious, so that metaphor must’ve been wrong!

The fairy looked flabbergasted.

“What are you talking about?! We clearly swore an oath in secret from the cult-”

“A Corrupted Fairy! Take my punch!”

A small fist swung.

“The Good Fairy’s punch!”

The punch hit the fairy. She tumbled and rolled.

A Corrupted Fairy, how could she possibly handle this alone!

“I’ll help too!”

Pastel closed the door behind her.

The fairy staggered to her feet. Black energy wrapped around her.

“Ugh. What kind of chaos is this? I know you’ve lost your mind, but I wanted to up my level a bit more, and this is perfect!”

The fairy revealed her sharp teeth.

“I’ll eat you!”

The atmosphere trembled. The dishes on the table rattled. A flower vase broke as it fell. The wind rushed in from the window, tossing Pastel’s pink hair around.

Huh?

Huh?

Something feels very off!

“Huh? Is this pure influence? It shouldn’t be this strong.”

The Good Fairy seemed to feel it too as she panicked and quickly clasped her hands together.

“God! Grant me the power of love that can overcome everything!”

The Good Fairy cast the delivery spell for love charms.

Slap on these charms, and even those who wouldn’t listen will be made your slaves!

Please deliver at dawn…!

But nothing happened.

Oh?

Looks like the delivery service is closed.

“God?!”

The fairy sneered.

“I’ve nullified your wish with my will! A loser who can’t even relish in devouring peer collaborators wouldn’t know how to apply influence!”

Ahhh!

She’s definitely a Corrupted Fairy!

“I may not be able to make the same wish yet, but devouring you is an easy task without a wish!”

Shattered pieces of the flower vase lifted into the air. The sharp fragments aimed at the Good Fairy.

Ahhh!

“I’ll help, Fairy!”

Pastel grabbed the sword at her waist.

The Good Fairy, drenched in cold sweat, yelled out.

“Stay still! I need to purify by eating it myself to level up!”

“Then at least let me give you a charm!”

“It’s already yours!”

Huh?!

Is that how it is?!

Then what should I do?!

With the Good Fairy’s lacking abilities, it seemed impossible to win.

The other fairy waved her hand.

“DIE, LOSER!”

The pieces of the shattered vase surged forward. As the Good Fairy took flight, they pursued her in a curved trajectory.

Waaaaah!

“Fairy…!”

The Good Fairy dodged and flew towards Pastel. The shards followed closely.

Huh?

The Good Fairy quickly hid behind Pastel.

“Family-like shield!”

Whoa.

The shards of the vase abruptly stopped. The other fairy looked at her, confused.

“Weren’t you not on my side-”

“Vulnerability!”

The Good Fairy swiftly pulled off two sticky charms from the seams of Pastel’s clothes. And charged at the other fairy.

“Huh? Why is that there?”

The heart-shaped charms swirled. The other fairy couldn’t process the cognitive dissonance as her eyes widened and the charms approached her.

The black energy exploded. A scream echoed. The fairy clad in charms plummeted in a plume of smoke.

“Pathetic creature!”

The Good Fairy raised one fist high.

“The victory of the Good Fairy!”

Wow.

The Corrupted Fairy lost to the Good Fairy.

Justice has triumphed~!

“Wow!”

Pastel clapped enthusiastically.

The Good Fairy is amazing…!
