Chapter 155

Pastel suddenly opened her eyes wide in bed.

“Huh?”

Drool dripped down her chin.

I was definitely face-to-face with the Fairy, so why am I in bed all of a sudden?

As she pressed down on the bed, she felt the comforting softness of the special Governor Pastel bed.

Wow, this is really a bed!

She wiped her mouth with her sleeve and propped herself up, her messy hair framing her face.

Ew.

“I guess it was a dream. But then again, there are no fairies in reality.”

Realizing it right away, she thought she was pretty smart.

—It wasn’t a dream!

“Whoa!”

Pastel jumped in surprise and turned her head to the bedside table.

A fairy, radiating black energy, sat in a flower pot and stared at her. The pink flowers in the pot began to wither into a purple color and then fell off.

“Wah, Fairy?”

So it wasn’t a dream!

—That’s right! I’m a fairy!

The fairy crossed her arms and nodded her head.

Nod nod.

—I’m a righteous fairy who brings good luck to good people and misfortune to bad ones!

The fairy cast her gaze on Pastel.

—From what I see, you’ve been chosen! You’re chosen to save the fate of the fairy world!

“Really?!”

Is that really it?!

Well, things did seem a bit odd!

I was born all pink and pretty, but since I came to my senses, everything around me has been anything but pink, and what I have to do now doesn’t seem pink either!

But it turns out that was just the build-up to save the fairy world!

Shock.

Pastel had another epiphany.

No wonder! No wonder!

I love money and power, but I always thought my innate looks didn’t match up!

But actually, it was a divine revelation to seek pink money and power in the fairy world!

Pastel clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling.

“What do I need to do?”

Perhaps launch an economic attack on pure fairy world?

Create inflation in the fairy realm using exchange rate differences and product gaps?

Wait!

No, no!

What if I, the pink Pastel, takes on the evil suit-wearers of the financial world targeting the pure fairy world?!

Zing!

Feel the wrath of pink Pastel’s strike……!

Introduce foreign exchange management laws! Hot money control! Limit investment inflow! Increase capital gains tax! Restrict remittance purposes! Currency swap! Lower interest rates! Purchase national debt!

The fairy looked pleased.

—Hmm! You really communicate well, don’t you? You have a very important mission!

“Please tell me!”

Pastel raised one hand high.

“I, Pastel, will dedicate myself to the stability of the fairy world!”

I’ll become a founding hero!

—What you need to do urgently is……

The fairy said with a serious expression.

Thump thump.

—You need to prepare a place for me to stay!

Whoa, that’s so realistic.

The fairy was homeless!

No wonder her name is Fairy.

“Don’t worry! I have plenty of places for little fairy to stay around me! Feel free to choose anywhere!”

Relative-rich Pastel!

The fairy smiled brightly.

—Oh, really?

“Yes!”

Pastel nodded. Then she hesitated, thinking she might need the Demon Lord’s permission to bring in guests.

“Have you awakened?”

At that moment, the Demon Lord walked into the room.

“Oh! Demon Lord! You came at just the right time! The Fairy here……!”

Pastel pointed to where the fairy had been sitting in the flower pot but found only empty space.

Huh?

There was no sign of black energy, not even a shadow of the fairy. Her finger awkwardly swirled in the air before drooping.

“Where did the fairy go?”

—Fairy? Did you read a storybook or something?

The Demon Lord sat on the bed and reached out to check Pastel’s forehead temperature.

—Are you alright? Ugh. I left you alone, and you fainted. I think I felt more at ease when you were tied to the Demon Sword.

Her pink eyes widened.

“I fainted?!”

—Wouldn’t you have fainted otherwise?

The Demon Lord seemed incredulous.

—What on earth happened? All witnesses except you are dead. Even a former knight member of the knight order is dead, which means something serious happened.

Eh?

“Really? What happened?”

—I’m asking because I don’t know. I checked the scene, but there were no signs of battle or remnants of magic. It’s almost a mystery.

What on earth?

The Great Demon doesn’t know?

Pastel racked her brain, recalling the events.

She remembered clearly that after discovering that the engineer and his group had transformed from innocent victims into suspicious victims, she had summoned some former knight members to search them.

Then came the wooden box.

And the fairy appeared out of nowhere.

—Whoa! Is it really you, Fairy?!

—That’s right!

She had quickly deduced the fairy’s identity like a master detective.

And then.

A red scene flashed in her mind.

“Ugh.”

Pastel felt a jolt of pain in her head.

“I feel like something happened, but I think it’s something that belongs to the Hormone Friend territory.”

It seemed like a memory too troubling to recall clearly.

—Hmm.

The Demon Lord crossed his arms, deep in thought.

—Yeah, it sounds like you need some stability. Let’s move on from this topic. I’ll bring you some warm milk. Lie down even if you don’t feel sick.

“Okay!”

The Demon Lord left the room.

Pastel sprang up from the bed, scanned the surroundings, and cupped her hands like a megaphone to her mouth.

“Fairy! Where are you?!”

Just as the Demon Lord arrived, the fairy vanished as if she had never been there. It felt like a fantasy, just like the fairy world.

Huh?

Could it be that I hurt my head when I fainted?

Was the fairy just an illusion created by my smart Hormone Friend?

Whoa, realistically speaking, there can’t be such a thing as a fairy world.

Of course, I wouldn’t be spouting things like introducing foreign exchange management laws, hot money control, limited investment inflow, and so on.

In reality, it was all an illusion of a weakened mind.

“Fresh seaweed…….”

If it’s fresh seaweed, I need to lie in bed until it becomes dried seaweed.

Pastel decided to obediently stay in bed as the Demon Lord suggested.

She lifted the blanket.

The fairy peeked out from inside.

—You must never tell anyone about my existence!

“Wah!”

Pastel jumped up in alarm.

“You were hiding here, Fairy?!”

—More importantly, you must never let anyone know about me!

The fairy said firmly.

—If my existence is revealed, bad people will come after me!

“Really?”

Thinking back, the fairy had been trapped in a suspicious engineer’s wooden box, and the illegal train was transporting goods somewhere. That meant a large organization had caged the fairy.

Then the incident where everyone, except me, died while I fainted was an assassination by that suspicious organization to erase evidence?

After all, someone like the engineer, who was a lower tier in their organization, would rather eliminate witnesses than get tracked after exposure.

But killing the Governor who received the Emperor’s sword would surely bring serious repercussions, so they only knocked me out, ensuring I wouldn’t see anything?

That’s plausible.

Hmm.

Daring to toy with the great Governor Pastel……

Pastel thought hard, but she couldn’t think of any organization besides the cult.

Anyway, it must be the work of the cult!

Boo! Evil cult……!

“I understand! I won’t tell anyone about your existence, Fairy!”

Pastel pretended to zip her lips.

After all, popular people know how to keep their mouths shut!

“But do you know what happened while I fainted? The people we had to capture all passed away during that time.”

The fairy stared blankly.

Then she smiled and exclaimed.

—I don’t know! I ran away before something happened and came back after it was all over! It must’ve been the work of bad people!

Bad people as acknowledged by the fairy, huh!

“Truly despicable people! I will take revenge for the sake of the fairy world’s stability!”

Evil cult!

I’ll rush to the Demon Realm capital and bring the United Kingdom’s military along with the Demon Realm Stock Company’s soldiers!

All troops! Attack the cult!

I don’t know where they are, but!

—What are you mumbling about?

The Demon Lord entered with a steaming mug of milk in hand.

“Heck!”

A quick glance revealed the fairy had already zipped away.

The fairy’s speed is astounding!

Phew!

Pastel sighed in relief and shot a piercing glare at the Demon Lord.

“Demon Lord! How can you just enter my room uninvited like that?! I have a right to my privacy!”

“What?”

The Demon Lord looked utterly bewildered.

His confusion was so intense that it seemed his emotions weren’t translating into words. After handing Pastel the cup of milk, he spoke after a moment.

“Well, I have a lot to say as well. If you want, you can do your own laundry.”

Pastel downed the milk in one go. The warmth flowed through her body. She chewed on the sugary gem powder and swallowed.

Then she pointed accusingly at the Demon Lord.

“That’s one thing, and this is another! My room is personal space, and I have the right to my personal time! How long do you think I’ll be a child?! The second semester has passed, and in a few months, I’ll be 15!”

Pastel shouted passionately, tidying up the blanket. Evidence of the fairy’s presence vanished. Her heart raced.

She felt like a bad kid hiding something from her guardian.

The Demon Lord rubbed his face with one hand. His face remained in a state of shock for a while.

His mouth bobbed, finally managing to produce a voice.

“I get it. I’ll consider it.”

Consider it?

“Not just consider, but guarantee my privacy! This is exactly why I’m complaining!”

Pastel pressed forward.

The Demon Lord’s expression shifted to one of disbelief. He withdrew the empty cup and tapped it mindlessly.

“Okay, yeah, sure.”

The Demon Lord glanced awkwardly at the door. Then he looked at Pastel, hesitated, and glanced back at the door.

“Should I… knock before coming in?”

Her pink eyes gleamed sharply.

“Knocking is basic etiquette! You can’t just come in without my permission!”

The Demon Lord rubbed his fingers against his lips.

“Yeah, okay. I get it.”

The Demon Lord muttered, appearing to dawn on a realization.

He slightly trembled with his fingertips and turned away.

“Alright. Go rest.”

That action seemed like he was escaping from an awkward situation.

The Demon Lord left, and the door closed. Whether he respected her privacy was unclear, but she also heard the sound of it being locked.

Pastel glared at the door for a moment. Then her expression brightened.

Her arms shot up triumphantly.

“Oh yeah! I just defeated the evil Great Demon!”

Go Pastel!

She hurriedly scanned the area.

“Fairy! Fairy!”

She lifted the blanket and peeked under the bed.

“Fairy! Fairy!”

She opened the bedside drawer. The fairy poked her head out from under the pillow.

—Well done! That’s how you do it!

Aha ha!

I’m so capable!

“High five!”

Pastel reached her palm toward the fairy’s hand. A soft slap echoed.

Yay!
