Chapter 160

Chapter 161: Go Talk to My Sister About Love

Sang Zhe had completely forgotten how he had dozed off in a haze.

When he woke up, someone was softly calling his name by his ear.

“Young Master Sang~ Are you awake~”

“Ugh…”

As Sang Zhe groggily opened his eyes, he collided with Qiu Ju’s bright and watery big eyes, timidly kneeling by the bed and staring at him.

“Qiu Ju? What are you doing here?”

“Ah, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Qiu Ju’s cheeks flushed as she hurriedly began to apologize, “I didn’t mean to sneak into Young Master Sang’s room.”

“I just saw your door was open and was worried something might have happened to you…”

Seeing her guilty and nervous little face turn red, Sang Zhe waved his hand carelessly:

“It’s fine. I probably just forgot to close the door after coming back too tired last night.”

“Last night, Young Master Sang went out with the Palace Master, right?” Qiu Ju suddenly asked curiously, blinking her eyes.

“Yeah…”

As Sang Zhe recalled last night’s nearly real confession from Gu Yingmian, blood rushed to his head, and he abruptly sat up straight.

It startled Qiu Ju too!

“Ha…” He covered his face deeply and sighed.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I’m just a bit hungry. Can I trouble you, Qiu Ju, to make me something to eat?”

“Mm!” Qiu Ju immediately nodded with joy.

It seemed that helping Sang Zhe with something made her extremely happy.

After Qiu Ju happily went out to cook, Chun Lan’s voice rang in Sang Zhe’s head:

“Hey, I warn you. Don’t lay a finger on my sister.”

“Let the willing go first.”

Sang Zhe lazily brushed Chun Lan off and got up to wash up.

By the time he finished washing, Qiu Ju had already set the porridge she made on the table.

“Young Master Sang, give it a try.”

After crashing at Qiu Ju’s place for meals a few times, Sang Zhe had no doubts about her cooking skills.

She was on par with Little Ying, the top-tier chef.

“It’s fine, I trust Qiu Ju’s cooking.”

Sang Zhe sat at the table, happily digging in, while Qiu Ju cheerfully sat across from him, propping her chin and watching him eat.

“Aren’t you going to eat?”

“I’m not hungry.” Qiu Ju blinked her eyes, “Just seeing Young Master Sang eating makes me very happy.”

Sang Zhe felt a bit embarrassed and continued to stuff his face.

Meanwhile, in his brain, Chun Lan was wailing: “My silly sister! You can’t be fooled by a man like this!”

“Wake up! He’s a bad guy! A bad guy!”

Sadly, the nearby Qiu Ju couldn’t hear Chun Lan’s cries.

She still looked at the gluttonous Sang Zhe with a comforting expression, smiling widely.

“That… Young Master Sang.”

“Mm?”

“Actually,” she said suddenly, feeling a bit shy, “my sister’s cooking is much better than mine.”

Sang Zhe paused his chopsticks, looking at her blankly: “…Huh?”

“Well, if Young Master Sang wants to eat next time, I can ask my sister to make it for you. She cooks way better than I do.”

“Ah, it’s not that I don’t want you to cook for me,” she suddenly blushed and waved her hands, “It’s just that I feel like my sister always wants to get closer to Young Master Sang, but she’s too embarrassed to say anything…”

Ah, ah, ah! Qiu Ju, wake up!

My silly sister, be more alert!

Chun Lan was nearly collapsing.

Sang Zhe cleared his throat, quietly saying: “If that’s the case, why doesn’t your sister just come find me herself?”

“You know my sister’s temperament has always been a bit odd.”

Qiu Ju gently swayed her toes, fiddling with her fingers: “She always holds back, keeping everything inside. Even if she really wants to talk to Young Master Sang, she wouldn’t dare openly express it.”

Ah, come on, don’t say that! When did I ever want to talk to this jerk?

“Usually, she really likes that communication device, secretly reading some romantic stories, dealing with love between men and women.”

“She must really yearn for that kind of thing.” She smiled gently, her cute face turning rosy.

Sang Zhe!

Please, just let her go back already!

Stop this before I die of embarrassment!

Listening to Chun Lan’s mental breakdown, Sang Zhe tried hard not to laugh and just listened quietly.

“But, my sister is a silly goose.”

“She cares too much about my feelings sometimes.” Qiu Ju’s tone suddenly turned a bit melancholic.

Please, stop! If you keep this up, I…

Wait?

Chun Lan suddenly looked at Qiu Ju in a daze.

Qiu Ju lightly tilted her head, resting it on the table, her gaze seemingly lost in memories:

“Since we were little, she wanted to protect me.”

“She always indulged me, kept the best things for me, carefully taking care of my every little emotion.”

“Standing behind me, carrying everything alone.”

She softly recited: “But my silly sister thinks too much about protecting me.”

“Even when we both like the same person, she wants to let me have him.”

“But actually… she doesn’t have to be so wronged.”

Her voice suddenly softened, with a hint of disappointment: “I want my sister to find her own happiness too.”

Qiu Ju… Chun Lan fell silent.

“My sister can be willful, likes to make a scene, and can be unreasonable.”

“But she’s also very caring, kind-hearted, always silently doing good for others.”

“In fact, I really hope my sister can bravely pursue the person she loves.” Qiu Ju suddenly said with longing in her voice, “If she can find someone willing to unconditionally spoil and protect her…”

“I should be happier than if I found my own happiness.”

Sang Zhe finished the last spoonful of porridge.

In his mind, the Chun Lan who had been loudly shouting just now also fell silent.

Wiping his mouth, Sang Zhe sighed: “Aren’t you afraid that when your sister leaves you, you’ll be lonely?”

“Yeah.”

Qiu Ju blinked and softly said: “I’m very scared of being away from my sister.”

“I’m timid, my personality is so soft. If I’m without my sister, I can’t manage anything on my own.”

“So, I don’t want to leave her either.”

“Only…” she suddenly hugged herself, burying her head deep, “I’m too afraid to get close to her and her love interest.”

“If my sister gives up her happiness for me… I’ll truly be heartbroken.”

“What I most want to see is my sister getting her happiness, and the two of them willing to let me stay by their side.”

“Even if it’s just being a little maid, doing some chores, serving my sister and brother-in-law, I’d be happy.”

When she finished, Qiu Ju sweetly smiled.

“That way, both my sister and I can be happy.”

Sang Zhe was momentarily at a loss for words.

This girl’s thinking was a bit too exaggerated.

He had seen humility before.

But he had never seen someone so humble.

Wanting to be a maid just to stay close to her sister?

That was too much.

In shock, Sang Zhe also felt a pang of pity.

Such a well-behaved girl like Qiu Ju really makes it hard to bully her.

Sang Zhe didn’t know how Chun Lan felt upon hearing all this; he could only ask:

“Is your sister’s love interest… me?”

Qiu Ju blinked at Sang Zhe.

“Well, this… only Sister can tell you that herself.”

“I said it doesn’t count.” She whispered.

Sang Zhe said “oh” and then joked in his heart:

“Did you hear that? Your sister confessed that she likes me.”

Chun Lan didn’t respond.

“Well, how come we talked so much today without realizing it.”

Qiu Ju’s face turned a charming shade of pink, unable to resist shyly bowing her head as she gently scampered toward the door.

“Young Master Sang, today what I told you has to be a secret from my sister.” She playfully winked at him, making a shushing gesture.

Sang Zhe really wanted to tell her.

What you just said was live-streamed to your sister.

But he still slowly nodded: “I will.”

“Thank you, Young Master Sang!”

Qiu Ju smiled sweetly: “Tonight, Young Master Sang can come to our house for dinner!”

“Mm.”

Once the little girl bounced out humming a little tune, Sang Zhe let out a slow sigh.

Then, looking innocent, he said:

“You see.”

“I haven’t done anything to your sister.”

“What she said just now was all from her own initiative. It has nothing to do with me.”

Finally, in his mind, the previously silent Chun Lan spoke up.

“…I know.”

Her voice sounded a bit wronged, as if she had been on the verge of tears.

Like she had just cried.

“What’s wrong?”

Sang Zhe said leisurely, “What do you think of what your sister just said?”

Chun Lan spat at Sang Zhe in annoyance.

But the next moment, her voice sounded a bit lonely:

“What a silly sister…”

You say I’m making myself suffer to accommodate you.

But what about you?

Aren’t you putting yourself in a difficult position for me?

When will my timid, soft-hearted sister muster the courage to speak these words to the person she loves?

“…I’ve made up my mind.” Chun Lan suddenly said.

“Mm?”

Sang Zhe was busy cleaning up the dishes, casually finishing the last bit of porridge left in the bowl.

“You go talk to my sister about love.”

“…Pfft.”

Sang Zhe nearly choked, coughing desperately.

“Wait.”

He looked flustered: “Are you crazy? Don’t you know I’m a demon cultivator?”

“It’s fine. I’ll keep an eye on you.”

Chun Lan said confidently: “From what I’ve seen these past few days, I can barely believe your nature isn’t that of an evil demon cultivator.”

“But if I find out you’re merely pretending to be kind to trick my sister, I won’t let you off.”

“As long as you don’t have any malicious intent towards my sister…” Her tone softened a bit.

“Then maybe letting my silly sister experience her own happiness occasionally… wouldn’t be a bad idea.”

Sang Zhe was momentarily speechless.

How do I put this?

They really are a pair of hidden talents.

A Few Idle Words

Hello, my fellow Wu Yanzus, I’m Lao A.

First, let me shamelessly say that I flaked today! (With pride)

Mainly because I haven’t been home these days, and rarely wanted to take a holiday for myself.

On the other hand, having successfully leveled up, I wanted to treat my hardworking self for a month.

Can pop some champagne and pick out cool character behind-the-scenes illustrations. Yay!

Then, let’s do some quick accounting.

Last month while leveling up, I impulsively said I’d write an extra for every fifty votes. That directly soared to two thousand two hundred twenty-one votes, which means adding forty-four extras.

Each extra is two thousand words, totaling an additional eighty-eight thousand words.

This book has had two hundred fifteen thousand words since going online last month on the twenty-second, excluding the explosive two thousand and a normal daily update of two extras with four thousand times thirty for a total of twelve thousand, needing two hundred twenty-eight thousand.

That’s right.

Even though I didn’t write every additional update in the title.

I’ve been quite diligent in addressing the monthly vote extras.

As long as I can clear the remaining thirteen thousand by the end of the month, I can finally liberate myself from this month’s exhausting state of mind.

Actually, the excessive updates this month due to leveling have left me feeling many of the plot developments aren’t as well fleshed out. Plus, the massive effort put into writing has added a lot of pressure, meaning many elements I want to convey didn’t come through completely.

So, it’s just right to take a one-day mini-break now that I’ve leveled up, clear my thoughts, and let the upcoming developments flow better for a better reading experience.

Thanks, dear readers, for your unwavering support. Lao A loves you!

This month’s vote extras will follow my earlier statement of one extra for every hundred votes, easing the pressure on myself. Next month, I’ll start clearing this month’s vote extras.

(But of course, if you all still encourage me to write more, I won’t say no)

In summary, tonight is a champagne night, celebrating leveling up, ushering in a hopeful new day.

Love you all!

(If there’s anyone you want to see behind-the-scenes illustrations of, just leave a comment, and I’ll consider the most liked and requested character.)
