Chapter 298

It was just another peaceful day.

Like usual, I turned on the broadcast, poking at the viewers a little, getting some hits myself, and engaging in some witty banter until one day.

“Giving up on jobs, giving up on marriage, giving up on dating? These days, MZ generation has become the N-po generation.”

This was the “Recent News” category created to learn about the latest social issues. Being cooped up at home, I had no clue what was going on in the world or what was trending.

So, I used the social issues the viewers sent in as fodder for chatting with them, thinking, “Ah, so these things are happening.”

But then, an even gloomier topic popped up.

“According to statistics, about 40% of young people in their 20s and 30s have a negative view on marriage, and nearly 50% are not dating…”

As I carefully examined an article posted by a viewer, sad messages started flooding in from the viewers.

[Oh… oh no….]
[I wish they’d stop throwing around MZ so much.]
[All 18,000 of us probably contributed to that stat, lol.]
[Who even cares about marriage?]
[Seriously, it’s not even dating; it’s just too hard.]
[Isn’t it that we can’t date, not that we don’t want to?]
[No, no, unless there’s a major problem, anyone can date; it’s just the money, time, and mental stress that keeps us from it these days.]
[That’s just nonsense;; Everyone I know is dating.]
[The person above must be older, lol. Once you hit mid-20s and start working, it turns into that.]
[It’s all about the money, lol. I’m too busy trying to earn a living to even think about dating.]
[I don’t really know much about this stuff….]
[Make sure to date a lot when you’re young, lol.]
[-Wrong-]
[Why are the Kayaks so old?]
[Those old-timers who raise the average age of Kayak viewers should just leave.]
[Oh dear.]
[Are you ignoring the grandpas who make up over 70% of the broadcast host’s donations?]
[You think you won’t get old, you insolent brats?]
[Aye,,, you kids don’t even know the basics of respect, @@,,,]
[Shut up!]

“Alright, alright, stop, stop. Don’t break into groups and start fighting. You all act like kids, just clashing at every little thing that happens.”

This was the usual clash in the chatroom. It was a common problem that occurred while reading the Recent News category on the broadcast.
There are plenty of social issues to chat about, but opinions can easily split, and minor arguments can escalate into conflicts.

If the chat isn’t monitored carefully, you’ll end up witnessing a gruesome spectacle.

When the flames of trolling start to spread, you’ve got to chop down every viewer or subscriber, just like Zhuge Liang cutting through the horde. If you fail to extinguish the fire early on, it’s gonna be a mess.

“Seeing that makes me curious, but let’s not get angry. I’ll just ask out of pure curiosity. Is anyone here in a relationship? No? Anyone without a girlfriend?”

[Hand raised]

[Hand hand hand hand]

[Yeah yeah]

[Why does it feel weird?]

[If you do public execution like this…]

[Wouldn’t those with girlfriends be watching this time? LOL]

[I’m at a hundred days in a relationship soon, haha]

[I’ve subscribed for 27 months, yup]

[Honestly, the fact that you’re watching this…]

[Looks like the broadcaster has a lot of deceivers watching]

[For real, the broadcaster is on public broadcasts too, so they’re kinda popular]

[So everyone here has no girlfriends, huh?]

[ㅠㅠ Older Sister, I broke up with my boyfriend, can you go out with me? ㅠㅠ]

Just going by the chat ratio, it’s well over half. It seems like almost everyone here. Asking like this is probably pointless.

“Hmm, should we do a vote? It’s been a while.”

A voting feature used to survey viewers about their jobs, ages, and how they got here. This time, we’re just going to check the age, whether they’re in a relationship, and how much dating experience they have.

[Is there even a need for a survey?]

[Let’s just play the game ㅠㅠ]

[Why are you doing something so cruel…?]

[Why are these kids reacting like this? What’s wrong with not dating?]

[Probably because they’re single LOL]

[I’m single too, so what? LOL Who cares? LOL I might’ve never dated, okay? LOL Why is that a problem? LOL]

[Don’t cry, just speak up, it’s okay]

[Even though it’s all-boys school and military, people still find someone to date]

[Why, damn it, what’s wrong with not having a girlfriend?]

“Please answer honestly, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s weirder to lie about this.”

And thus, the survey began.
It was just a small curiosity.

Maybe it was because the statistics from the article were more than I expected. I thought it was strange because I kept seeing couples every time I went outside.

Unlike before, there are now quite a few people hanging out in my broadcasts. I thought this would provide a decent sample size. So, even if I run the stats, it’d still mean something with this many participants.

However, the results revealed through voting were more shocking than I expected.

“Currently, singles 78%, in a relationship 18%, married 4%…?”

[Pretty decent, huh?]
[18% are in relationships?]
[All you lovebirds better get out of here, this is our space with Kayak]
[Why are they watching the stream instead of going on dates with their girlfriends,,, lol]
[Married people are even more hilarious, haha]
[There are surprisingly a lot of shoulder bros]
[Kayak is really getting love from the older folks]
[If you’re married, I’ll acknowledge you…]
[These days, just having kids after getting married is respectable in a human way]

But when I looked into the details, it got even more pitiful.

Seriously, these people. I asked them to write seriously.

“What the heck, people saying they’re in a relationship with Kayak. Is there such a thing as a relationship the person doesn’t know about? If you’re crushing hard, is that really any different from a relationship? What nonsense…”

[Why are there so many kids writing Kayak? wtf haha]
[All the Kayak fans think the same way]
[Babe, weren’t we dating? hehe]
[Didn’t you make the first move?]
[Seriously, since Christmas, it’s been ages and you’re just pretending not to know]
[I told you to answer seriously, why the hell aren’t you listening?]
[These idiots don’t even listen to their moms]

After all that sorting, it turned out that the percent of people not in a relationship, including liars, rose to a whopping 80%, with those in relationships at 16% and the married at 4%.

Then I delved even deeper into relationship experience. Among the 80% not currently dating, a staggering 46% had never been in a relationship. What a crazy number!

[Stop it already…]
[Kayak is a famous psychopath, lol]
[What do you mean, a crazy number, Kayak?]
[Why does your tone sound so excited?]
[A streamer who enjoys tormenting the viewers]
[The streamer enjoying the fun]

[Honestly answered but it hurts my heart]

[Wow, straight up killing it;;]

[Why not just change it to a girl -_-]

[Was this the kind of room it was?]

[Kayak doesn’t understand human emotions]

[??? : Why have I never dated?]

[Ah haha, right? I had a normal school life, so why can’t I date?]

[But hey, those in their early 20s still have hope; those in their mid-20s… um…]

[Stop the nonsense, stop the nonsense, stop the nonsense, stop the nonsense, stop the nonsense, stop the nonsense]

[The broadcast host finds dating easy… so cowardly]

A chat line catches my eye.

Wasn’t the broadcast host good at dating?

Thinking about it, I guess so. Just like the viewers, I could’ve had no dating experience, but thanks to Yeon Soo, I did. She approached me first and confessed first too.

If you ask if I had any part in dating Yeon Soo, it’s practically none.

“Um… I guess so. I feel like I dated a bit easily.”

I could only say that with a slightly awkward face.

[Trickster, oooo]

[Kayak is a famous lesbian, oh yeah]

[The broadcast host could go out right now and date someone in under 10 minutes if they wanted to]

[So what’s the reason for starting this content? I’m in so much pain]

[It’s easier to give up; there’s no pain or struggle]

“Not that, but I was thinking it might be a fun content idea… By the way, are there any of you who said you’re single that can Discord with me?”

The viewers think I’m just trying to torment them, but that’s not it. I’m not the type to purely enjoy tormenting people in a naive way.

I find it both regretful and unfortunate. I’ve only experienced it once, but I want to create dating experiences for those who have never dated.

So, to summarize what I’m saying.

“I’m thinking of doing a matchmaking content for our Kayakers.”

I just hope my viewers can be a little happier.
