Chapter 242

An online fan meeting is being held online.

What’s different about an online fan meeting compared to a regular broadcast?

One might think it’s just switching platforms and having a virtual date on Vtube, but there are actually quite a few differences.

Among the various differences, the biggest one is that viewers who want to participate in the online fan meeting need to be aware that their faces will be revealed on the broadcast.

However, it’s okay if their real faces aren’t shown. They can hide their faces with a mask or a costume. What matters is that I actually get to face my fans, even if it’s through a screen.

What that means is that just like I’m showing my face, the fans coming to the fan meeting also need to show themselves.

Even though we aren’t physically together, it’s all about maintaining that immersive experience. It’s about two people meeting face-to-face and exchanging emotions.

I heard from Sebi that some celebrities held fan meetings like this during the peak of COVID.

The idea was to utilize the fan meeting as content at the same time. Editors would later film the actual fan meetings held in person, but I thought it could be quite fun to have these two different types of events.

Of course, since I’m not the only one being seen, there is some broadcasting risk involved in showing the viewers at the fan meeting.

For example, someone who deliberately dislikes my broadcast could infiltrate as a fan and cause trouble. There’s a chance they might make controversial statements that could put me in a tough spot.

Because of this, anyone wanting to join the online fan meeting needs to contact the editors in advance and go through a sort of verification process.

I’m not really sure how the verification happens. Since I’m not the one doing it. But I wonder, is it really possible to filter out someone intending to sneak in?

“Just trust me, Boss.”

“Yup, yep.”

Since Yusia confidently claimed there’s a way to verify everyone, I decided to leave that part to her. She said she’s a master at witch hunts or whatever. No one can escape her grip.

Well, considering she has experience as a moderator in a gallery, she probably has her own tricks up her sleeve. I thought it might be a bit annoying for fans to go through this verification before joining the fan meeting.

Anyway, now that all those processes were done, I was sitting in my seat, waiting for the day to begin.
“Dressed up with makeup I usually don’t wear and chosen outfits from Yusia, I was all about that ‘power look’ today.

Normally, I just slap on some lotion since it’s a hassle, but today’s a big deal. So, I silently accepted Yusia and Kim Jae-jun’s assistance. I really did keep a good employee around.

And finally, the fan meeting began.

*

“Hello, nice to meet you!”

“Oh, oh wow! Are we connected right now? Kayak, hello! I’m a total fan!”

“Yes, we’re connected. Please calm down and speak slowly.”

A man with an excited face raised his voice. He seemed unable to contain his excitement, babbling away until he finally snapped back to reality.

This was the ongoing scene of Kayak’s broadcast as the fan meeting kicked off.

[Do you look young enough to be in school?]

[If you’re a student, study instead of watching broadcasts]

[Let’s keep the chat classy; it’s not a live stream, it’s a V-Tube live!]

[If you don’t study hard in school, you’ll end up like these people later~]

[Not even a high schooler, are you a middle schooler? There are quite a few kids watching]

[Kayak has taken over the school lunch market ㄷㄷㄷㄷ]

[You can already tell he’s good-looking; he’ll be popular with the girls]

[Congratulations on reaching 1 million ^^~~]

Maybe it’s because I was live on V-Tube, but the viewer count was double what it usually was.

Currently, there were 37,000 viewers. It looked like not just regular viewers, but also subscribers who only watched V-Tube or casual viewers had tuned in for the live broadcast.

However, truthfully, Kayak’s broadcast wasn’t exactly what viewers were hoping for.

The show itself focused on fan interaction and communication, which meant it lacked any thrilling content to stimulate dopamine release.

Compared to the usual exciting broadcasts, this one felt quite bland.

Moreover, the structure of viewer participation content, where viewers join in, inherently makes it difficult to gain traction. About half of the show’s entertainment depends on the viewers.

Fortunately, some fans popping up sporadically helped somewhat liven the broadcast.

“Wow… A creature fully decked out in Kayak merchandise has appeared. What’s that you’re wearing on your face? Oh, custom-made merch… I see. But why aren’t you talking? Your relatives are here in the living room? Well, if your relatives are here, go spend time with them. Why are you hiding in your room?”
“If the relatives are here, shouldn’t you go out and spend time together? Why are you just sitting in here like this?”

[LOL, what is this person?]

[Kayak’s mask is so ridiculous it’s funny.]

[Considering it’s self-made, the quality isn’t bad, huh?]

[Not cute at all, just unpleasant looking… hmm…]

[The unpleasant look actually captures Kayak pretty well.]

[Even with relatives around, I can’t resist a Kayak fan meeting, right…]

[Just look at what they’re doing; it’s suspicious.]

[Wait, among the fans, there’s quite a few crazy ones, isn’t there?]

[Just saying…]

[The host is already a weirdo obsessed with Camilla.]

Next, two suspicious schoolgirls in uniforms appeared.

They grabbed Kayak’s attention by performing Camilla’s signature dance.

“Wow, even the Camilla dance! Do you have anything else?”

“Yes! It’s not a Camilla dance, but I’ve prepared the dance that Kayak did on Midnight Talk!”

“Oh… uh, can you show us that too?”

[Suddenly, the vibe just dropped, LOL.]

[The tension is falling, LOL.]

[That’s definitely a school uniform I recognize.]

[This person just really likes Camilla, LOL.]

[Are these two in some dance club or what?]

[Kayak’s fans are good at dancing too.]

Despite the viewers’ enthusiasm, today’s Kayak broadcast wasn’t exactly thrilling. It was more like a nice, calm background noise kind of stream.

Still, the reason the viewers stuck around until the end was that Kayak, unusually, had a gentle smile on her face during the rare online fan meeting.

She looked genuinely relaxed and happy, a stark contrast to her usual broadcast persona.

Real fans who loved Kayak remained in their seats, watching her until the live stream ended.

*

“Alright! Sadly, this online fan meeting has to come to an end. Thank you to everyone who applied. For those who couldn’t join this time, don’t worry; we’ll have more like this in the future. Look forward to the next opportunity!”

[Fan meeting’s over~~~]

[Great job, host!]

[One million cheers!]

[Is the next event for 2 million subscribers?]

[I applied but couldn’t join; what a bummer….]

[Couldn’t go to a real fan meeting or an online one, sigh…ㅠㅠ]

[Older sister, ㅠㅠ I wanted to join too!]
[Wow! Someone just donated 10,000 won!]

– Info) Kayak’s fan meeting tickets sold out all 300 in about a minute! So many people were trying to access the site that the server lagged instantly.

[No wonder it was such a pain in the ass.]

[I lagged and went back for the first time, damn it.]

[300 tickets is a bit too few, haha.]

[The site can barely handle the rush of just the kayaks.]

[I’m so scared, Kayak!]

[Please do another fan meeting next time! T_T]

I felt oddly warm and answered with a voice mixed with laughter.

“Yeah, next time we’ll aim for 500 seats. Then 1000 seats for the one after. I really wanted to see a lot of you all at once, but there were limits. That’s why we held the online fan meeting. So many people said they missed the tickets….”

I slowly shared with the remaining 30,000 people about the process of preparing for the fan meeting, the reasons behind planning the online fan meeting, and the events we would have at the fan meeting.

While we were deep in conversation, I suddenly felt the urge to say this.

“Everyone, uh….”

[Yeah, say it!]

[It’s cute how excited you are, haha.]

[Send me to the fan meeting too, eek!]

A thought I would never normally express, one that made my insides tingle just thinking about it.

“I… you guys….”

Yet, at this moment, I felt compelled to say it; if not now, I’d never find the courage.

“I like you all. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be here, and without you, I’m nothing.”

“Thank you so, so much for coming to the fan meeting and always watching my broadcasts, even though I’m so insignificant.”

[??? Suddenly?]

[What’s with the emotional rollercoaster?]

[ㅠㅠㅠㅠ Older sister, ㅠㅠㅠ I love you too!]

[Oh come on, kayaks have no empathy, haha.]

[Shut up and empathize, you guys, haha.]

[This person’s back at it with the emotional food….]

[Kayak Soup is bubbling….]

“It feels really embarrassing to say this… but if I don’t express it, you won’t know. Even if I tease you all a lot, I’m always thinking of my viewers.”

After that, I took some time to sincerely express my feelings and wrapped up the broadcast.

It was a day that somehow left my heart feeling warm.
