Chapter 206

The work proceeded at a breakneck pace.

This was the biggest difference I felt after switching bodies. Should I say I gained some drive?

It was different in many ways from the past when I would struggle to even decide on what to do, procrastinating like a champion.

Back then, I spent ages wondering what the best course of action was.

I would ponder and research various options, thinking about what the most efficient approach would be and how to get the best bang for my buck, only to end up with a headache and accomplish nothing.

Compared to that time, now I’d say I tend to just go for it.

You could say I’ve become a bit impulsive, but I see it as a positive change. Whether it ends up as a huge success or a spectacular failure, I think it’s better to give it a shot.

Maybe it’s because everything I impulsively tried after becoming a kayak has yielded good results.

I feel my adaptability has improved a bit. Thanks to that, unlike in the past when I was complacent in reality, I now have a sense of challenge. That’s how it is.

Now that I’ve set my plans for the future, I should deal with the basics.

Thus, I quickly stopped by my place to gather all the necessary items and returned to Haryeong’s house.

It looked like I was going on a trip, cramming all my clothes and daily necessities into a huge suitcase.

There were many other things I wanted to bring, but since I didn’t know how much I might need and the distance wasn’t so far, I figured I could just shuttle back and forth whenever I needed something.

After making a little moving-like haul, I first contacted my employees.

I needed to explain the situation to these people, who could practically be considered my right-hand men.

“…So, that’s what happened. I’ll be living here for a while, so let’s have meetings online.”

– Hmm, got it. But wouldn’t it be better for you to stay at the Boss’s place instead of Haryeong’s? Since her address got exposed to the stalker and all.

Yusia asked, looking somewhat puzzled.

That’s a valid point. According to Haryeong, not only her house but her entire usual living area seemed to have become exposed to the stalker.

However, I had a different plan.

“I’m going to hide out and catch the stalker.”

– Ah, I see….

Yusia let out a small gasp as if she understood. Really, when you think about it, both Kim Jae-jun and Yusia have become quite familiar with me.
She let out a small exclamation as if she understood. Sure, when you look at it this way, both Kim Jae-jun and Yusia have become quite familiar with me.

Let’s be frank: a regular woman capturing an adult male stalker on her own? That’s practically impossible. The odds are more in favor of her getting attacked or overpowered instead.

My editors, who surely know this, don’t stop me because they understand that I’m quite different from typical women.

Whether it’s at Juhwan Lim’s gym or when I subdued a drunk at the bar with Nicang, those who have spent time with me have a rough idea of my peculiarities.

On the other hand, Haryeong, who hasn’t spent much time with me compared to them, seemed to be somewhat restless.

“…Is it really okay? I don’t want Kayak to get involved because of me…”

Despite hearing all my plans, Haryeong’s face was still full of anxiety.

In fact, hearing my plans might have backfired. It could sound utterly ridiculous to her.

From her perspective, the idea of me subduing a stalker one-on-one probably sounded absurd.

But then again, I can’t prove that my hand-to-hand combat skills are amazing either. So I tried to give her the most trustworthy expression I could muster.

“It’s okay, it’s okay. Just trust me.”

“Alright….”

*

[Did something good happen today? You look bright!]

[You seemed down lately, did you recover?]

[I was worried about you, Haryeong ㅠㅠ]

“Oh, really? I look bright? Can you tell? Hehe… I do have good news, but it’s a secret.”

Even if I’m troubled by a stalker, I can’t stop broadcasting. While I’m staying at Haryeong’s place, she decided to continue her broadcasts as usual.

“I’m sorry to worry you, I tried to keep it hidden, but I guess it showed. It hasn’t been entirely easy, but I’m alright now! Let’s keep up the broadcasting efforts, fighting!”

With Haryeong’s voice echoing from the next room, I started to organize my luggage.
Well, this is quite the spacious house for one person to live in, but it sure has its interior set up nicely in the room.

It’s a well-organized space overall. The more I unpack, the more I feel like I’m making a mess.

I was also planning to do some broadcasting like Haryeong. We had agreed to coordinate our broadcasting times around hers.

Sure, I might have to reduce the broadcasting time and frequency a bit, but dragging my computer over here to set everything up isn’t really feasible, so I guess this will have to do.

Maybe it’s not a bad idea to take a little break. I’ve been going full throttle with the broadcasts lately.

Let’s aim for broadcasting about 4 to 5 times a week while at Haryeong’s place.

Just as I was lounging around unpacking and settling in, the door opened, and Haryeong walked in.

“Um, the broadcast is over.”

“Already? Didn’t it just start less than three hours ago?”

“Today, I was just letting everyone know how I’ve been doing for the first time in a while… and you need to do a broadcast too, Kayak.”

You don’t really have to consider that, though. My broadcast can fit around Haryeong’s schedule. If hers ended late, I was planning to take a break today anyway.

So maybe I’ll do a bit of broadcasting.

‘Kayak is live!’

– Just a short stream before heading to bed.

[Hahaha]

[How long is a short stream going to be?]

[Even if it’s short, I like it!]

[Is it no cam today?]

“Today is a no cam stream. I’ve been getting a lot of comments saying I should find my original self again, so I decided to go back to the times without a cam. It’s nice to just stream quietly, right?”

[?? Which jerk said that?]

[Original self is one thing, and the cam is another, ah haha]

[Turn the cam on while we’re still on good terms]

[Kayak-style mind games on]

[I wonder what’s bothering you this time]

[A terrorist holding the cam hostage]

As expected, the viewers’ reactions were quite intense, but it was unavoidable.

If I turned on the cam, they’d find out I’m broadcasting from Haryeong’s house.

The core of my plan revolves around deceiving the stalker. It’s a plan to give the impression that Haryeong is home alone, then catch them off guard.

To execute this grand plan, I needed to keep the no cam streams for a while. I couldn’t do a cam stream from Haryeong’s house.

“I’m just kidding, but it’ll be no cam for the time being. I can’t turn it on. It’s a personal matter I can’t discuss, so please don’t pry.”
[Are you joking?]

[No cam, no cam, no cam, no cam!]

[Why can’t you turn it on?]

[I said it’s fine even if I don’t wash up. Yeah, my hair can look messy, just turn it on!]

[Not washing? That’s actually a good thing.]

“Not washing? What do you mean? I’m cleaner than you guys. I’ve said this before. Check out how tidy I am.”

[The confident cow in a coffee-colored jacket donated 5000 won!]

– Or is someone home? Haha, do you have a boyfriend?

[Oh my!]

[What? What? What? What? What?]

[Do you have a boyfriend? Do you have a boyfriend? Do you have a boyfriend? Do you have a boyfriend? Do you have a boyfriend?]

[Well… I might have a boyfriend. The host is a person too! They could be dating and living together while streaming, just as long as nobody finds out!]

[Older sister ㅠㅠ You’re ours!]

[Hurry up and take a vow of singleness!]

[Cry to prove your purity!]

“No, what boyfriend? I said I don’t have one! You want proof that I’m single? How can I prove something that doesn’t exist? It’s not like it’s real!”

It was then. While I was rambling on,

Clack—

The soundproof booth for the broadcast opened very slightly, and Haryeong peeked her head out.

Then, she mouthed a tiny question.

‘What. About. Dinner. Tteokbokki?’

Tteokbokki or whatever is fine. I’m not picky about food.

But right now, that wasn’t the issue. It wasn’t about tteokbokki or anything else; that wasn’t what mattered.

[Did you just hear something?]

[Yeah, I heard it too.]

[Turn the cam on! Turn the cam on! Turn the cam on!]

[?? Is there really someone home?]

[No, no, no, no, no, no, no!]

[The only kayak I know is Abyss, and she’s a nerdy pure maiden!]

[It was strange she didn’t have a boyfriend with that face.]

[Kayak, please! All the alphas out there, don’t take away my only entertainment and drug….]

Sigh After all, the host ended up like this.

[I loved you….]

In an instant, the chat room spiraled into chaos.

The sound had snuck into the broadcast when Haryeong opened the soundproof booth’s door.

Nodding my head vaguely to Haryeong and sending her back, I sighed and spoke up quietly.

“That was just my cat making noise. It’s a misunderstanding.”
