Chapter 80

About a three-day challenge for Camilla’s hotfix, I ended up completely exhausted afterward.

No matter how much I threw a fit and made a mad movie during that Maedmu segment, there was no hotfix to be found.

The reward for my efforts? A big fat zero.

It felt like I was shouting at a deaf person who couldn’t hear me, no matter how loud I yelled. In the end, it was utterly pointless because they just couldn’t hear me at all.

Because of that, I was hit with burnout and my motivation plummeted. I couldn’t help but think, “Why bother trying so hard? Eonix isn’t going to fix anything anyway.”

The reality hit me hard. I couldn’t find any meaning in anything, and as a result, I didn’t want to do anything at all.

Today, there’s no broadcast. I’d been playing Camilla for the hotfix for several days straight, streaming for over 12 hours each day.

Now that I felt disillusioned about the whole thing, there was no reason left to turn on the broadcast. Of course, I should consistently stream, even if not just for the hotfix, but right now, I really wanted a break. The viewers had been pitying me for a while, telling me to take it easy.

So, I finally took a long-overdue break and went outside.

After days of being cooped up, gaming nonstop, it was my first outing, but I had nothing particular to do.

I had no one to meet and nothing to do. What would other people do in times like this?

They’d probably be doing something fun they enjoy or just relaxing… But with problems popping up in my favorite Abyss, it felt like I’d lost my sanctuary.

“You’re looking a bit down today. What’s up?”

“Well, you see….”

While mindlessly continuing my walk, I bumped into Si Hyun and ended up spilling all my troubles.

As an adult, I really shouldn’t be burdening a child with my complaints. Even if Si Hyun was more mature than most kids these days, leaning on her made me a pretty terrible adult.

But hey, I’m just a useless adult who can’t even handle Camilla’s hotfix, so, yeah. I guess I can lean on Si Hyun.

“I have something I want to do, but it’s just not working out.”

I didn’t go into detail, just dropped the overall vibe. Still, Si Hyun nodded, understanding, as if she got it.

“It’s so frustrating when you can’t do what you want!”
“It’s really frustrating if it happens!”

“Yeah, it is…”

“You must have worked really hard and made a lot of effort, right? But if it still didn’t work out, that’s tough.”

How do you always know the perfect words to say? I definitely didn’t like Si Hyun for no reason.

After that, Si Hyun comforted me, saying things like not to be too upset and that everything I do in the future will go well. By the end, she even hugged me with her signature soft and fluffy body.

As I was holding onto that delightful, warm embrace typical of kids for a moment, Si Hyun subtly asked,

“Um… is it maybe because of our uncle that you’re feeling this way?”

“Huh? No, not at all. Kim Jae-jun is really doing well. The V-tube subscribers are steadily increasing…”

“Then that’s good.”

Si Hyun let out a sigh of relief. My curiosity got the better of me, and I asked,

“Why? Is there something going on with Kim Jae-jun?”

I asked out of concern that my precious employee might be facing some trouble, but all I got back from Si Hyun was a lukewarm response.

“But I’m the boss, so I should know. If it’s something I can help with, I will.”

“Um… it’s not a big deal.”

My problems were my own personal battles that those around me couldn’t help with, but wasn’t Kim Jae-jun’s problem something others could assist with? Those others could be Yusia or even me.

However, the words Si Hyun shared were slightly hard to understand.

“I think he might be a bit troubled because of you…”

“Me? Why? I treat him really well! I’m a good boss! I’m not a bad person!”

“That’s exactly the problem.”

“Huh?”

“Don’t be too nice to our uncle. He might get the wrong idea-”

Si Hyun didn’t get to finish her thought. Suddenly, Kim Jae-jun appeared, quickly wrapping an arm around her waist and greeting me as he left.

“Good morning, Boss! I know you’re struggling with the hotfix, so don’t push yourself too hard!”

“Jae-jun, you mentioned you had something on your mind. Let’s talk a bit-”

“No, I’m fine! I’ll be heading in now!”
It was as quick of an exit as it had been an entrance. I muttered to myself in the spot where my little nephew and uncle had just vanished.

“What could they have been thinking…?”

Meanwhile, in the practice room of Fusion Gaming, the training was in full swing.

To be precise, research was still ongoing. The hero Camilla, who had never been used even once in the league. The players were studying if she could actually be viable in tournaments.

“Not bad… not bad at all.”

That was the remark of a man comfortably leaning back in his chair while wearing his jersey. He had just heard from two players doing the research that Camilla might be useful, and they had even reported their findings.

Lee Jun Hyuk, pro gamer nickname: Teles.

The leader of Fusion Gaming, who maintained the steadfast number one spot in the Ack League and was a living legend. That was the man before me.

“Doesn’t it feel a bit awkward? The finishing touches seem lacking. It feels like an incomplete build.”

Jun Hyuk’s assessment was like that. A feeling that was 2% short. He said the level of completion was too low for use in matches at the highest level of professional team play.

“Have you been watching any overseas league games or something? It has that vibe with Camilla being used and the unusual build.”

“Hyung, that’s not it. Please take a look at this for a second.”

Min Hyung finally revealed where the idea had come from.

Solo queue replays. Jun Hyuk straightened up, feeling that something was off. Along with him, everyone else in the practice room gathered around.

“What is this? Solo queue?”

“It’s Kayak. This person is really good.”

“This person’s voice is nice too. I subscribed to their broadcast after developing.”

“Seriously, how can a woman be this good?”

“Her figure is amazing too—”

“Ha Jun, manage your gaze a bit in front of female fans. You might end up in controversy later.”

Even the second-string members, who were still with the main members, expressed their thoughts while watching the video Min Hyung had played.

“….”

Amidst all the noise, Jun Hyuk was watching the replays with a serious expression.

And after watching all three replays, he nodded with a solemn face and spoke up.

“She’s good.”

“Ooh, if Jun Hyuk says they’re good, it must be true.”

“If it’s Jun Hyuk’s endorsement, it’s definitely real. This person really is good.”
“This person seems really good.”

The practice room buzzed for a moment before going quiet again. It was because Jun Hyuk kept talking.

“Camilla got a lot of buffs in this patch. I tried using her a few times after the patch, but I thought she was only good in solo queue and wouldn’t work in tournaments.”

“But watching this person play…”

“Hyun Kyu is right. There’s something different about it.”

“The unique technique is definitely different.”

Jun Hyuk rewound a specific part of the replay and said, “This person’s Camilla is special, to say the least. Just from this, it seems like it would work in team games too. The actual gameplay looks more focused on team fighting than solo queue… the synergy with the team members is spot on. It’s not just in the first match, all three matches show a similar pattern. Are they really that used to team games?”

“Here goes Hyun, analyzing again.”

“It’s fascinating. The play style.”

The team members mumbled, confirming their captain Jun Hyuk’s habit.

“If we could just absorb this person’s playstyle, it would be useful in tournaments. It could even work as a surprise joker pick… but the problem is we need this person’s know-how. Both the early game and this part. I don’t understand why they made such decisions. It’s like a craftsman’s unique perspective built from experience. Is that it?”

“I’ll send them a whisper, hyung.”

“With the friend request window popping off, do you really think they’d check whispers?”

“True. Is there any way to contact them? If we learn this, it could be incredibly handy.”

This wasn’t the first time encountering such a case. How did Fusion Gaming become the top team?

Whenever there was something that could help their strategy, they didn’t hesitate to throw around big bucks to gain that know-how. The accumulated knowledge became the foundation for the various picks Fusion Gaming attempted.

Anyway, the situation was the same this time. The conclusion was to get the skills passed down from streamer Kayak. But there was no way to get in touch.

Just then, a thought struck.

“I have Han Kang’s contact. Should I try to connect us?”

“Oh, that sounds good. Give it a shot.”

“Let’s make it happen.”

“Come on, let’s talk to a woman too.”

“No, we’re getting techniques from a craftsman, what kind of nonsense is that?”

Jun Hyuk nodded at his team member’s comment and said, “Yeah, give them a reach out. I hope we get a positive response.”
