Chapter 50

A headache and a slightly queasy stomach.

There wasn’t much alcohol, but I knew well that the drinks from last night were strong.

If I had drunk soju like yesterday, I would have been perfectly fine.

“Ugh…”

I could somewhat understand why the Commander got drunk so quickly—this hangover was proof of that. Of course, I drank knowing it would probably turn out this way.

I already knew the alcohol was strong, and high-proof drinks inevitably lead to a rough morning.

Well, it was a holiday, so there was no problem.

“What time is it… still morning.”

Is that a relief? I wasn’t really sure, but since it was morning, I had no reason to get out of bed right away.

The Commander was sleeping next to me thoughtlessly, but since nothing weird happened while he was asleep, I had no need to get out of bed and get cold.

I had already tossed aside my pajamas due to the heat, and here I was, in bed with the Commander.

“I’ve slept in the same bed with a man twice.”

And with the same person, no less.

Hmm.

Honestly, I didn’t feel particularly thrilled about it, but it wasn’t overwhelmingly unpleasant either.

We really just slept, so it wasn’t like there was a problem.

“….”

“Sleep well.”

He really was still sleeping soundly, even when I squished him into the bed.

Even now, he looked so comfortable that I had no thoughts at all just watching him.

“Yawn….”

With my head comfortably resting on the pillow, I alternated my gaze between the ceiling and the Commander.

Truthfully, I was just doing this because I had nothing else to do.

There was nothing to get up for, and I was simply bored.

“Hmm… should I go wash up?”

The Commander didn’t seem like he’d wake up any time soon.

So it would be good to wash up and come back.

Also, if I was next to him when he woke up, it could lead to an awkward situation.

Well, I figured neither of us really cared, but waking up to disheveled hair and looking a bit rough wouldn’t help either of us.

*

“……”

I came out after washing up.

Since the Commander might wake up, I intentionally changed clothes inside.

After all, showing up naked… had its own levels of difficulty.

Anyway, I washed, changed, and roughly dried my hair with a towel before stepping out and faced a rather awkward situation.

Really… I had no idea how to react.

“Um… uh, this could happen.”

Yep.

This was a reasonable situation.

If a normal, healthy adult man was sleeping, of course, he would have a natural physiological reaction.

Being a man myself, I could honestly understand that… um.

“Hah… haha…”

Maybe he mumbled something while I was away from the bed.

The blanket had shifted a lot more than before, meaning the part covering his legs had slipped down.

And then… when the blanket slid away, there it was—the unmistakable sight of a man’s morning glory.

It was definitely standing out more than usual since it was morning…

“What the hell do I do about this…?”

Covering it up would be the right move.

After all, even men have a sense of modesty, and knowing that I saw it would definitely be a bit much.

But seriously, what’s up with that size? If I weren’t a man, I might not even think that was possible.

Um.

Of course, anyone who wasn’t completely clueless about sex education would probably get the gist.

-Swoosh….

“Ahem…”

First things first, I properly covered him with the blanket again to hide his lower half.

He was wearing pants anyway, but given the size, it was obviously showing.

If it was a reasonable size, it wouldn’t be noticeable, but this one was clear as day.

“……”

“This is a little embarrassing. It really is.”

Covering a sleeping man’s… that part with a blanket was certainly awkward for me.

This was something I had never even done while I was a guy.

“……”

Seriously, what is going on with that size?

If the Commander had been sleeping with another agent, wouldn’t this have happened anyway?

Hmm.

Thinking it over, it really seemed like the Commander shouldn’t be drinking with other agents.

*

“Did you sleep well?”

“Basically.”

“Then that’s good. You looked very comfortable while sleeping next to me.”

The Commander woke up, and I was sitting on the floor watching him.

There really weren’t many chairs in the room—only the floor and the bed to sit on.

The desk I used for work was a bit far from the bed and not ideal.

“More importantly… do we have any drinks? I’m feeling unwell…”

“How much did you drink…?”

“Sorry about that….”

I kind of expected this, so I went out quickly and bought a drink from the convenience store.

Just a regular sports drink.

I wasn’t feeling too bad, but the Commander was looking worse off than me.

I tossed the drink over to the Commander since I already had it ready.

“I think you should always drink a hangover remedy before you consume any alcohol, Commander.”

“…I used to do that.”

“Then why don’t you anymore?”

“……”

He hesitated to respond.

I had no idea why he wasn’t answering all of a sudden.

After all, there was really no reason not to drink it, right?

I mean, why wouldn’t he take something to prevent a hangover given he can’t even handle alcohol?

“Oh, that’s not cool.”

“…Huh?”

“It sounds like you’re admitting you can’t drink at all.”

“……”

Hmm.

Yeah, he didn’t seem normal either.

Seriously.

What kind of idiot wouldn’t take some remedy because they can’t drink?

Really… if he just kept quiet, people would think he was a decent guy.

“Commander.”

“What?”

“I think you should speak a bit more quietly in front of the agents.”

This was serious advice.

If he started saying weird stuff in front of the agents, it would truly undermine his authority.

He didn’t even seem like a commander in front of me, anyway.

If he spoke to them like he did to me, it would seriously be a problem.

“…I’ll try.”

“By the way, Commander.”

“Huh?”

“…Never mind.”

I almost said something about what happened while he was sleeping, but I decided against it.

That was too much of a personal issue.

If I brought it up, I was sure he would be quite uncomfortable as well.

So I just decided to cleanly forget it myself.

“? ”

“More importantly, Commander, let’s go get breakfast or something. You need to wash up quickly.”

“……”

“Are you not going to eat?”

“Alright….”

It was a bit past breakfast time, but since the Commander would be eating, they would probably serve regular food.

I told him to wash up first since I was hungry.

It had been quite a while since I had the chicken yesterday.

“Oh, the towel is on the right as you go in. You should be able to find the rest yourself.”

“Ha….”

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing….”

I didn’t understand what he was thinking, but he sighed again as he went inside.

Why was he acting like that when he was going to wash up anyway?

“Sigh.”

Well, the Commander occasionally did say silly things.

Given his tendency to say all sorts of pointless things without thinking, I just brushed it off lightly.

*

“Be careful; it’s hot. Take your time eating.”

“I know. Woah….”

I was blowing on the steaming gukbap—or rather, stew—to cool it down.

It was super hot!

Somehow, Soan had given me an extra hot stew today, so I was blowing on it earnestly.

I definitely didn’t want to burn my tongue or mouth by eating something hot without thinking.

“Tasty, right? The seafood makes it even better than I thought.”

“That’s true. The tomato flavor isn’t bad either; it goes well.”

“Really, Soan is good at cooking. It was a good decision to recruit her earlier.”

“Wasn’t it me who cooked?”

“It’s right to commend you.”

Well, sure.

Soan really was good at cooking.

Even with that scalding hot stew, it was delicious enough for me to think so.

“Woah….”

“But with something warm in my stomach, I feel a bit better now….”

“Didn’t you say you didn’t have even a shot of whiskey?”

“……”

“I’m sorry.”

Honestly, teasing the Commander was a bit fun.

Because honestly, it was just hilarious, right?

“Are you having fun teasing me?”

“Um…. Yeah.”

He asked, so I figured I should give him an honest response.

It would be better to tell the truth than to lie.

“…Stop laughing and eat.”

“Did I laugh? I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to… at least not outwardly.”

“Why does the Vice Commander treat me so casually?”

“Well, we are friends, aren’t we?”

Given the time we’d spent together, it felt right to talk like this.

After all, I could confidently say we had grown close over time.

“You sure talk a lot.”

“I can talk well. Unlike you, Commander, who often says strange things without thinking.”

“……”

“By the way, yesterday was fun. Drinking together was really nice.”

“Ha….”

Not wanting to tease him too much, I at least threw in a good comment.

After all, I’s just saying whatever came to mind while we were eating, and honestly, it was more fun eating together.

It seemed like a good idea to buy some decent drinks and do it again next time.

“Hmm… Though it was a bit of a hassle after you got drunk.”

“What did I do?”

“…Um, well, you had your share of hassles this morning too.”

“?”

I didn’t elaborate since sharing everything felt like too much, and I told him briefly.

Bringing up that little morning incident would have been crossing boundaries.

Yeah.
