Chapter 18

In the end, the gacha totally flopped.

I could somewhat justify hitting the ceiling for pulling Asticia, but when I hit the ceiling for another character that was also in the pickup at the same time, I really thought I was losing my mind.

I still can’t shake off the chat window reactions from that time; it’s enough to make my head throb.

Anyway, those bad guys, it’s like their happiness is built on someone else’s misfortune.

【‘Kokkiyaho’ has sponsored 50,000 won.】

– Just giving the mission fee out of pity.

“Ah, thank you for the mission fee…!”

But not all the viewers were bad; most of those who had bet on the gacha mission accepted my failure and even donated the amount.

I felt a bit like I got beaten up for no reason but, hey, at least I recovered some of the money I spent like water today.

Thanks to the Chairman, I almost covered everything, so I can laugh this off.

What’s flowing from my eyes isn’t tears; it’s sweat. Yeah, totally.

“So, let’s call it a day for the broadcast. We’ll see each other tomorrow. As I said the other day, we’ll push through to the ‘World Ring’ ending, so please stay tuned.”

After a simple just chatting and singing segment following the advertisement broadcast, I declared the end and informed everyone about tomorrow’s schedule.

【Octopus Sukhwa】 – Scheduled suffering for tomorrow lol

【TWS2425】 – If I break the record of 67 deaths, it’ll really suck lol starting with me

【Alpaca Hunter】 – I really don’t think I’ll see the ending lol

The “World Ring” is notoriously hard, and the viewers who had seen me suffer in previous plays were already giggling, picturing the agony awaiting me tomorrow.

Let’s see, you guys. The results will tell whether you’re scrubs or I am.

“Well, we’ll find out tomorrow. Anyway, have a good night, everyone, and sleep well.”

【Cosmo Absolute Keeper】 – Koba

【Whirlwind Flower】 – Koba

【K-HipHopTopCosmo】 – Koba Koba

Even though the camera wasn’t on, I could still wave at the viewers as I ended the broadcast.

Phew, I think I got a bit tense since it was my first ad broadcast, and my muscles are all knotted up.

“Grrr…!”

I cracked my shoulders and neck and stretched like some kind of spasm, twisting my hands and feet in the process. I’m pretty sure most guys do this too.

Ugh, I feel a bit better now.

“Hmm….”

Then, thinking it’d be better to sleep early, I lay down in bed, but surprisingly, I wasn’t that sleepy. More precisely, I felt a strange sense of reluctance to sleep as I was.

Thud.

Just then, my phone on the desk began to glow and played a gentle tune.

I wondered who would be calling at this hour, and when I picked up the phone, I saw a familiar name. None other than Older Sister Seo-ha.

“Yes, Sister. Were you watching the broadcast?”

The timing was quite perfect, so I assumed she was watching live until the end when a voice filled with regret came from the other side.

– I’m sorry for calling so late. Were you about to sleep?

“No, not at all. I was just a bit hungry and thought I’d make some ramen.”

Hmm, it was a bit awkward to hear the phrase “Were you about to sleep?” from an older woman. Maybe it seemed a bit too formal? She could be a bit more casual with me.

“By the way, what’s the occasion?”

I naturally leaned in, hoping she had more updates about the new platform she mentioned yesterday because there’s no reason to call me at such a late hour if it’s not something important.

– Oh, um, it’s not really a big deal…

“……?”

I stopped walking toward the kitchen and sat on the bed, waiting for her to speak, but she seemed a bit hesitant.

What’s going on? Is it not related to the platform?

– I’m sorry. Actually, I usually fall asleep listening to your voice, but I couldn’t do that today… I felt sad, so I called.

“…Excuse me?”

I tilted my head in confusion and blurted out a stunned sound at the unexpected revelation from her end.

Though she tried to say it indirectly, I wasn’t dumb enough not to interpret the meaning behind her words.

So, um… you called because you wanted to hear my voice?

I didn’t see her like that, but turns out she’s a hidden master of flirting. Any other guy would have definitely misunderstood that line.

But for me, it’s just lip service from a fan, no big deal.

– I didn’t intend to bother you for this… I’m sorry for being a nuisance.

“No, you don’t need to apologize. You haven’t done anything wrong…”

While I was too flustered to respond, Older Sister Seo-ha seemed to think I was so dumbfounded that she offered another round of apologies.

Seeing as I knew she couldn’t see me, I waved my hands as if to comfort her while pacing around my room, assuring her it wasn’t a nuisance at all.

I was just a bit shocked, but I never thought it was a bother.

“That aside, how was today’s broadcast? I was worried it might be awkward since it was my first ad.”

To lighten the awkward atmosphere a bit and to get some feedback, I decided to ask her how she felt about today’s show.

As soon as I asked, Older Sister Seo-ha’s voice came back sounding quite excited.

– Of course, Your broadcast was never boring even for a single day…!

“Now I feel embarrassed for asking, with such praise.”

I’m not that great at talking, nor do I consistently produce various content like other major corporate streamers, so hearing that makes me feel less like a compliment and more like I should bow down.

She replied with the biggest voice I’d ever heard from her, saying “I mean it!”

If the saying goes, “The crab takes the side of the crab,” then I felt this was the true spirit of what it means to be a fan. It felt incredibly heartwarming.

I’m really such a lucky guy.

– By the way, Cosm, you mentioned earlier that you like dark-haired older characters, right?

As the lighthearted atmosphere resumed, Sea-ha’s question came, carrying a hint of shyness.

“Yes, that’s right. I think they have a somewhat mature charm.”

Even though I prefer characters that make me shout “Noona!” more than straight-up older women, it’s pretty much the same in meaning, so I nodded.

Then I caught a whisper-like voice from Seo-ha coming over faintly.

– I see… Hehe…

“……?”

I couldn’t hear her clearly, but she seemed to be giggling.

Could it be that she likes those kinds of characters too? But she didn’t seem to know too much about the subculture.

“By the way, thank you so much for yesterday, Sister. Honestly, I’d like to repay you somehow…”

After a long pause from her, I recalled yesterday’s memory and finally expressed my gratitude.

Since she intervened when I was feeling down due to the Twip service ending notice, her suggestion really helped ease my worries and allowed me to sleep peacefully.

Wondering if she wanted something like last time when we did AGP together, I casually asked if she had any desires.

– Repay…?

“Yes, is there anything you want?”

I could tell her voice brightened a bit as I heard her respond.

Then, I remembered she was the person who asked for my phone number as a way of repaying me, and I couldn’t help but feel a brief moment of fear thinking she might ask something outrageous.

But knowing Seo-ha, I trusted that she would only ask for something simple and nodded in agreement, only to hear a voice filled with caution.

– Th-then… Could you sing for me?

“Singing?”

– Yes, I’d like to hear a lullaby…

Wow, that’s quite an unexpected request.

I mean, singing isn’t hard for me since I do it every day on broadcasts, but I never expected her to ask for that specifically. Usually, people request something fresh that I don’t do often.

“Well, I can definitely do that. Do you have any particular song in mind?”

– Nighttime, so I’d like something calm. I’ll leave the selection to you.

“Hmm, okay….”

After a moment of thought, a fitting song came to mind, and I quietly grabbed the guitar beside me.

Instead of cranking the volume too high and causing noise, it would be better to gently accompany myself with the guitar while I sing.

Ding.

– Ah…!

The moment the intro played, a soft gasp came from her. She must’ve recognized the song.

Well, it’s quite a famous tune.

“Well, here’s a solo performance just for you…”

While singing to a crowd during a broadcast didn’t feel like much, singing just for one person made my heart flutter in a strange way.

But I was cautious not to mess up in the middle, worried it would keep her from sleeping, so I focused and pushed through until the end.

– Zzzz… Zzzz….

By then, I could hear her soft breathing begin to drift off after the third song reached its climactic moment.

“Sleep well, Sister.”

After saying goodnight to the now-sleeping Seo-ha, I ended the call.

I felt a bit regretful that I couldn’t tell her to sleep well.
