Chapter 67 – Light and Darkness (7)
“Why? Is something wrong?”
Since the commotion at the dimension gate in broad daylight, there hadn’t been any unusual signs yet. But it was surprising that Rene had summoned me to meet her.
I assumed she wouldn’t call me for trivial matters, so I reluctantly went out. The meeting place was a high altitude above the city, just like last time—high enough for airplanes to be flying around.
“I couldn’t find an answer no matter how much I thought about it, so I came to seek you out.”
“Hmm, are you talking about what happened earlier today?”
“That’s right.”
Rene, who had been somewhat apprehensive, nodded with a serious expression.
“Don’t worry too much about the dimension gate. Didn’t the mascot mention it? It could happen naturally. Of course, the chances are low.”
Not really caring too much, I reassured her while digging in my ear. I understood her anxiety. She could close the dimension gate but couldn’t open one. However, from my perspective—waiting for prey—I didn’t want to disrupt the flow of things.
“Isn’t that truly irrelevant? No matter what creatures crawl out from there, it’s your job to catch them. So, how’s the work going?”
“…We plan to gradually increase our influence, starting with this country.”
Changing the subject, Rene nodded along. Seeing her like this made it clear that direct intervention from the Fairy Company on the magical girls was challenging.
“Yggdrasil won’t reclaim their powers unless they break basic and significant rules. If we keep producing consistent results, they’ll have nothing to complain about. Isn’t that the core principle behind all the hard work they’ve put in?”
I chuckled while looking at the mascots, Ren and Fluffy. Naturally, they couldn’t voice any objections.
“So, what’s the plan to get this country under your control?”
“As announced to everyone, we will implement true justice and judgment.”
Rene’s worried eyes sparkled at this statement.
With a snap of her fingers, glowing screens composed of magical circles began to materialize in the air.
“Our organization, Casilena, is actively working to listen to the voices of the wronged whom the laws of this land have failed to protect. Based on the information they gather, we will dispatch qualified interrogators to execute true judgment.”
“…Huh.”
Having created a respectable organization name, Rene had already established a system within it. The name Casilena clearly intended to invoke the light sage and primordial magician from the Human Empire of the past. Rene aimed to make this magical girl group one pillar of the world.
“Everyone contributes to the information gathering. They utilize human society’s resources to identify the wronged.”
On one of the screens, a magical girl was seen using her phone to browse the internet. Another magical girl was infiltrating a police station with her stealth abilities or sneaking out confidential court files.
“An interrogator will be dispatched to listen to the victims’ stories, and the interrogator will determine the truth of the incident.”
Another magical girl was seen gliding through the sky and sneaking into a household. The criteria for judgment were simple. Rene didn’t need to use any confession magic; the magical girls simply judged the perpetrators with their own eyes.
“If deemed a villain, immediate execution on the spot. The standard for punishment is proportional to the suffering inflicted on the victims!”
A faint smile appeared on Rene’s face.
In this entire process of the perpetrator being brutally ‘beaten to death,’ all laws and regulations of this country, the Republic of Korea, were ignored.
Moreover, Rene didn’t even attempt to hide these activities. There was no irrational behavior from a political monster like her. Naturally, each of these actions was infused with meaning.
“Are you trying to imitate me? The way Demon King Takilas rules the Demon Realm. Plus, part of the form is oddly reminiscent of the Angel cults, which makes me… uneasy.”
I scoffed at the absurdity. Yet, Rene didn’t let her smile drop.
“I’ve merely taken some reference points; it’s not at all the same. I’ve simply realized how effective overwhelming fear can be. I intend to make the name Casilena a source of dread in this land.”
Now, desire glimmered in her azure eyes. They sparkled with passion and vitality, a stark contrast to the lifeless eyes of the powerless girl confined in the Demon King’s castle. This was the true nature of Seria Rene Raose.
While showing such liveliness was fine, in my eyes, she was still immature. I thought she might slip up at some point… I slightly pondered whether I should help her out then or not.
“Well, do as you wish.”
Of course, it was entertaining to watch. After all, her name had started to come up even more than mine.

‘If something truly big happens, I won’t just stand by. After all, there’s no one who loves this world more than I do. So, I just have to keep doing what I was doing. Disruptions? Certainly, there are. But I won’t run away anymore.’
In the dark night sky, Rene watched the figure of Takilas disappear.
Her feelings toward Takilas remained enigmatic. There was a desire to embrace the beautiful and adorable appearance at any moment, contrasted by fear, and confusion knowing that this being was her spouse and the Demon King.
‘…Am I uninterested in the form of a woman?’
Sitting on a building rooftop, Rene absentmindedly scratched her head. Honestly, if it were a tentacle monster, no matter how hard I steeled my resolve, I might bite my tongue. But with a girl that cute, I wouldn’t mind.
“So, are you serious about continuing this crazy activity? The company’s situation is a mess right now.”
“Dedicated magical girls are actively moving according to their beliefs and accumulating quality results. Speak up. In this process, do you have any grievances? If so, it would be about the magical girls breaking free from your control. Is that morally justifiable?”
“Kuh… No matter how much magical girls mature, many of them are still kids. We need to take care of them…”
“Our Casilena does not force participation. Only those with conviction and determination may join, so your excuses don’t hold. And honestly, as long as there’s no obstruction, I have no interest in your situation. Just one piece of advice: don’t fear innovation. Those who cling only to past glories without adapting deserve to be destroyed.”
Rene suppressed the grumbling Fluffy with her words and logic. Like Takilas, she had no intention of bending her will.
“A message has arrived.”
Just then, a glowing butterfly flew through the night sky towards her.
Rene had constructed all the systems using her magic, magic from another world that humans and even the Fairy Company couldn’t decipher.
“Lady Rene. I’ve located the case you requested. Shall I report?”
“Proceed, Ria.”
The butterfly burst into a myriad of visuals, revealing the image of Ria, another magical girl passionately working alongside them to support their cause.
“…It concerns a juvenile delinquent case. The one pleading for justice is the victim’s father.”
“I cannot comprehend such a law.”
At the mention of juvenile delinquency, she furrowed her brow. For Rene, accustomed to the Empire’s customs of punishing or executing young criminals without mercy, the idea of holding no responsibility due to age was utterly absurd.
“This can’t be…”
“I’ve come to hear the details. I am Rene, interrogator of Casilena.”
Rene headed straight for the victim’s residence. The father, who had posted grievances online, came out with a weary face and froze upon seeing her, standing at the terrace railing.
The magical girl, radiating brilliant golden light with flawless hair, clothing, and skin, appeared so stunning that she almost transcended beauty to seem holy.
“Aah…”
Especially if he was someone who desperately sought salvation more than anyone else.
“Evil from another world is roaming freely in this one. Furthermore, native evildoers in this society are overflowing. We will cleanse them. But remember this: falsely accusing others with deceitful information is more petty and small-minded than murder and rape and will return to you and your family with eternal retribution.”
Slowly descending onto the terrace, Rene crossed through the locked door with a short-range teleport and staggered before him, revealing the mark etched onto her arm.
That mark was the symbol of Casilena, meant to be a representation of judgment and salvation imprinted in people’s minds.
“Now that you understand, speak up. The names and sins of those who have not paid their due debts.”
“I understand… I understand! Certainly!”
Her expression softened, and she smiled gently.
That smile held power. A strength capable of inspiring a powerless father, who had been despairing and hating the world at the sight of criminals who had paralyzed his son being released unscathed.
