Chapter 111

Even though World of Arseria is supposed to be realistic, the reasons it doesn’t feel like reality are scattered all over.

For instance, when an enemy falls, any gory scene is automatically mosaiced and bodies don’t stay; they disappear over time.

Conversations with NPCs are the same. At first, it’s easy to mistake them for real people, but that only happens when interacting on specific topics.

They don’t unfold their stories. When you ask them what they had for dinner yesterday or about their family members, they zip their mouths shut like they’ve hit a lag spike.

That’s why I found the NPC named Adella particularly intriguing. Her reactions were so vivid that I nearly felt like I was dueling with a real person, and unless you dig deep into the conversation, it’s hard to feel any sense of discrepancy.

It’s like comparing a robot with implanted memories to a dementia patient who has lost memories. Adella was closer to the latter.

Once I started to recognize her as a person, that impression stuck in my head and wouldn’t fade away.

What exactly determines humanity? Acting like a human is a condition that can easily be met by mimicking humans. I even once had an attachment to the Fox Merchant Liri, who sold old boots and potions in Legacy of Legends back when I was a kid.

I had no idea how advanced technology had become in this era, but if game NPCs are at this level, it seems a technological revolution might be just around the corner.

Bam bam bam-!

[‘OVERDOSE’ donated 1 million won!]
– What are you thinking while doing this?

In the midst of catching my breath on the battlefield, an imaginary trumpet sound rang out, followed by a halo of donations fluttering in.

– ??
– Wahhhhh!
M;ch;n
– Huh?
– Wow, mch!
– One million ??????
– Is this for real?
– A big spender has come in, LOL!

The amount itself wasn’t shocking, but I was piqued by the message he sent.

Once upon a time, before mana existed in Korea, there lived a queen.

Not a real queen in the strict sense, but an athlete of equivalent stature.

I still remember, a PD once asked her the same question in a documentary when she was young.

“I still remember. She answered, ‘What do you think… I just do it.’”

People who can simply ‘do’ tend to be great individuals. That’s why I once took this as my life motto in my first life—such impactful words.

Was there someone in this world who resembled her? I never bothered to find out, so I don’t know.

Honestly, I wasn’t exactly having any special thoughts while playing the game.

Her calm reply resonates more with me now.

“Thank you for the donation of 1 million won, Overdose. Thoughts… thoughts.”

But saying there were no thoughts would be a lie. That wouldn’t be the answer he was looking for either.

Thoughts are divided into complicated layers, making it hard to explain in one word.

After pondering a bit, I threw the dual swords I was holding onto the ground to reset the penalty, resolving to give the donor a satisfactory answer.

“I’ll let you know what I’m thinking while playing.”

Nah-me was smarter than others.

Intelligence is a relative concept, and it requires a comparison base to exist.

That’s why she tended to underestimate herself, having spent longer days surrounded by the finest talents and extraordinary heroes in her past life.

“There are three knights with shields charging from the front. Don’t forget to take in all the viewpoints you’ve checked. They appear to be moving at the same speed, but given that their strides differ, it’s highly likely they’ll attack with different timing. Therefore, I’ve decided not to respond and instead, I’ll counter the student behind me aiming for me. Dispel will be in reverse order…”

As Na-me said, the one with the largest stride was the first to leap off the ground and slash down with his sword.

The other knights flanked and executed additional attacks by slowing their speeds beforehand.

Had I tried to watch and respond as she intended, I would’ve been perfectly trapped and faced certain death.

However, by forcibly dispelling the boy’s magic, who was firing electric sparks from his wand, the precious mage turned into a weak hostage.

– ????
– Wow.
– What’s going on?
– Just as expected!
– Who dispels with reverse order?!

“First circle magic has lower strength, but it is very efficient and can drastically shorten casting time. Therefore, using several spells in sequence rather than one spell can open good opportunities in the limited time of 10 seconds.”

Before she finished her sentence, Na-me, having snatched the boy’s wand, synchronized it with the Laurel.

Skipping the recording and injection stages with wand-type magic.

Five magic circles generated with a woom behind her, and beams of light shot out sharply in all directions except her front.

– Creepy, LOL!
– How did you draw that without looking at the magic circle?
– Is that even possible?
– The boy who lost his wand looks like he’s just lost a country, LOL!
– Is this real skill…?

“I determined that having a risk to overpower someone with a long weapon wouldn’t be wise, so I decided to focus on the Sword Knight first, as he is relatively constrained by the shield.”

The beams that branched off took down the knight’s lower body, disorienting him.

Though he flailed his arms in a desperate attempt, Na-me lowered her stance drastically to evade and put her left hand on the ground.

Then her right leg made a large arc. A sharp woosh echoed as the knight groaned.

“Ugh…”
“Can’t let myself die from a blind arrow when pursuing a counterattack while losing balance.”

Swish-!

Once again ducking her head to avoid an arrow that flew towards her from behind.

In a first-person perspective, the arrow lodged into the ground made a thwack.

It wasn’t just a simple lead arrow but one with an explosive scroll attached.

She stomped down hard on the rolling shield to bounce and hide her body.

Crash!

“The need to maintain a broad field of view was just illustrated in yesterday’s situation, allowing me to avoid the archer’s aimed attack behind the knight without sustaining damage. When taking cover, I reduced the possibilities that could attack me to six significant options and should keep my posture ready to respond to the most dangerous attacks.”

– Why is she so composed, LOLOLOLOL?
– I thought my heart was going to stop watching in first-person…
– Is this how foreshadowing gets paid off?
– She’s a master, a MASTER!

Dark smoke swirled in the wind.

But before I had any time to catch my breath, an armored knight charged forth, swinging a great sword aiming at Na-me behind the shield.

CLANG!

The shield turned and snugly deflected the heavy attack, but it sent Na-me swaying. Heavy attacks always come with recoil.

The retrieved great sword aimed for a speedy horizontal strike.

[Spell: Preliminary Adjustment]
“I quickly responded to the attacks that I couldn’t initially block with the spells I had cast beforehand, and by receiving the enemy’s attacks with minimal damage, I was able to obtain a better weapon immediately.”

[Acceleration lv.4]

As a knight lost his grip on the handle, I rushed in close, landing a punch to the face and a swift elbow to the abdomen. He must have had good endurance because Na-me dealt a significant blow to his brow.

“With the dispel, I can cover the healer’s inefficient mana recovery, so I think it’s best to use skills whenever the cooldown is up. For assured kill catches, I chose acceleration over healing.”

Even though it was an excellent melee weapon with a long reach, the usage time was limited.

“The great sword is more vulnerable to angles than one-handed swords, but blindly trying to redirect it could make it susceptible to more varied attacks. Therefore, I decided to take some time to gauge the situation, and while doing so-”

Clang-!

The sharp metallic sound rang through the battlefield.

The heavy great sword that had crossed over my shoulders shattered the sharp thrust coming in from behind.

“The benefit of standing with my back against the streetlight, like just now, is that I can spot the incoming shadows on my field of view and prepare for the enemy’s attack beforehand.”

[NoName) Declaration of lawsuit for the Ahn-chung law, LOL!!!]

If you lose a one-on-one, you give hope and then win like a dog, LOL!!!

And here it reveals her death note (a.k.a. lawsuit)

This girl is a legend every single second, LOL!

– Is NoName the top of the ranks now?
└ Yup, that’s probably NoName.

(Popular rising streamer)

– Communication isn’t great, and the broadcast is too calm to watch.
└ You better rewatch it, that’s not true, LOL!

└ It’s hilariously funny right now, LOL!
└ A genius of unintended performance.

Do the celestial beings consider such intricate details while playing Rank games? Truly admirable.

NoName isn’t from the celestial realm, though.
└ Then what are they?
└ They’re still a total newbie who hasn’t even played a normal game.
└ Quit joking around, please.

– Are you playing a game or studying, LOL? My head is spinning.
– They’re a Gramma user playing Sword Knight as their main character in World of Arseria, so they seem to have a somewhat similar thought process. Although one-on-one situations don’t come up often in Haikyu, timing the attack while checking strides is really important.
└ Was it such a complicated game? What about the other half?
└ Think it’s reasonable to play while worrying about shadows in a tense situation, gamer?

– Why isn’t this a meme post?
└ Seems like someone here is observing all the broadcasts, LOL!
└ If you know then write some comments!

[If you acknowledge the tournament > solo ranking, give a thumbs up, LOL!!!]

Both tournaments and solo ranks are awful enough to make my eyes hurt, so why am I even comparing? Just memorize it. Story >>>>> Tournament = Solo Rank.

– LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
– What the heck is this, LOL!!!
– Now even the story-focused streamers are getting flamed, LOLOLOL!!!
– Are we talking about downscaling or upscaling?
– Did a pro really manage to make 3 throws of the wall in one second at the tournament?
└ Guess they were quite desperate~
└ Triplets o/o

– Looks like World of Arseria is on a downward spiral.
└ The game certification came out, LOL!!!
└ Wouldn’t it be disappointing if such comments didn’t come out?
└ No way it’s going down~ FPS fans get cut!
Legends are cunning, LOL!!!

[The Wagal is back to its fundamental strength in these days’ season 2][103]

After being dragged into the League of Legends gallery, I shut down my gallery after seeing how they held Galad Cup without a break, attacking the pro players’ reputations.

But lately, seeing mentions of World of Arseria popping up here and there in V-tube, I came back and felt touched that everyone was only talking about the game.

– It’s a gaming gallery, but talking about the game gets you treated weirdly, LOL!
└ The abnormal has become the norm, and the norm has become the abnormal.
– I just don’t know, but NoName is such a cutie.
└ That’s real, LOL!
└ For real, LOL!
Fn* [referring to a famous character]

[Honestly, I just want NoName to stay in the first act forever and play only with Adella][90]

I’m so scared of what might happen when this talent goes to rank games…
In a week, she’ll hit rank 1 and make her pro debut, win the Champion’s title, and run for president with a vote rate of 1800%, right?

[Recommended] 82 [Not Recommended] 116

– Why would NoName even run for president, LOL?!
└ It’s the timeless template.
└ Please, don’t bring this up again.
– Rank 1 seems possible, if she has the right champion.

└ Is that the rating?
└ Observing that person scoring like in Dynasty Warriors doesn’t seem to be a huge deal.

– What on earth is their identity? It’s kind of fascinating to see them appear out of nowhere.
└ Nobody knows?
└ All we know is that she’s just a high school girl who dropped out of the academy and turned dark.
└ That’s just speculation, right?
└ If one more Korean high school girl turns dark, the Earth might collapse, LOL!
