The sun was shining brightly. Although it was still late spring, the indoor temperature felt somewhat hot.
All the curtains in the small villa’s living room were tightly shut, and with no air conditioning turned on, two young girls had beads of sweat forming on their foreheads.
Xia Yan wore a light blue T-shirt on top and gray-black tight women’s jeans below, while Gu Yao was dressed in a white T-shirt paired with denim overalls. Clearly, the original owner’s wife and daughter’s clothing taste wasn’t too flamboyant, and the sizes were somewhat appropriate.
After breakfast, Xia Yan and Gu Yao began to sense something was amiss. After taking a shower, they felt hungry again and had to eat two pots of noodles to feel satisfied. They experienced a little-known fact: after becoming vampires, their appetites would increase significantly.
After the meal, the two leaned over the coffee table, staring intently at the map spread out in front of them, continuing their discussion.
“D City is mostly mountainous. Aside from a few main districts and counties, other areas are mostly sparsely populated. Our primary consideration now is that we must leave the range of DZ City.”
Xia Yan traced a few highways and national roads with her pen, her brow slightly furrowed. “According to what you said, the Shadow Arrow team has already started deploying checks and surveillance on major transportation routes, especially the main entry and exit routes in the mountainous areas. So we can’t use the national roads or highways; we must cross the blockade on foot!”
“Brother, trekking in the mountains, regardless of the direction, we won’t be able to get out in less than three or five days! We lack too much equipment. Moreover, some supplies are even harder to obtain in the wild…”
Gu Yao glanced sideways at the living room refrigerator, which held the last two bags of blood, his expression somewhat tense. “I couldn’t think too much at midnight and only managed to get this blood. I don’t even know how long it will last. Should I go get some more tonight?”

Gu Yao, feeling frustrated, leaned back against the sofa, grabbed a cup, and tilted his head back, gulping down cold water to drive away the heat from his body. As he leaned back, his body shape was inevitably highlighted.
Xia Yan gazed intently at Gu Yao’s actions, slightly dazed.
“Brother… what are you looking at?”
Noticing Xia Yan’s strange demeanor out of the corner of his eye, Gu Yao looked down at his chest, his face turning slightly warm.
“Girls… girls… yes!”
Xia Yan seemed to have been lost in thought for a long time, completely ignoring Gu Yao’s current inquiry. She slowly got up and began to pace around the living room.
Gu Yao hurriedly put down his cup, his expression full of confusion.
“Since no one knows what we’ve turned into… as long as we carefully avoid thermal imaging surveillance cameras, what do we have to worry about? Hmm, the tracking butterflies are quite expensive, and they’re single-use consumables. They definitely won’t be used all over the blockade.”
With her head slightly bowed, Xia Yan walked with her left arm crossed over her chest, her right elbow resting on her left wrist, forearm raised, fingers propping up her chin, her eyes growing brighter.
“Brother, do you mean… no one will recognize us in our current appearance, and we can directly leave via the national road?”
Gu Yao finally understood what Xia Yan was mumbling about and jumped up with excitement. “Then let’s do it tonight! Let’s grab more blood!”
Turning back to look at the youthful and exuberant girl, Xia Yan showed a wry smile. “Without constant temperature refrigeration, blood at room temperature won’t last long, and also, don’t let yourself get addicted to stealing.”
“Now that we’re vampires, who cares about being a thief…”
Gu Yao muttered under his breath, and Xia Yan was taken aback for a moment, then fell silent.
Just as the atmosphere grew somber, suddenly, the sound of a vehicle approaching from the small road outside the villa grew louder, seemingly heading straight for the small villa.
Xia Yan’s expression changed dramatically, quickly stepping to the side of the floor-to-ceiling window, grasping the curtain and slightly lifting it to peek outside.
A large electric tricycle with a cargo box, painted in familiar colors and markings, was a common delivery vehicle. A middle-aged man with a beard jumped down from the driver’s seat, looking at the small villa with his head tilted back, and shouted at the top of his lungs.
“Delivery for the Yang Ping family!”
“Is anyone there?”
“Is the whole family out having fun?”
After several shouts, there was no response from the small villa’s yard. The bearded man habitually spat on the ground, turned, and walked towards the cargo box, planning to leave the package at the door and just leave, too lazy to make a phone call to inform them.
In this rural area, losing a package was nearly unheard of. As a local courier accustomed to being a quick drop-off point, he was already used to such situations.

At the moment the bearded man turned, he curiously glanced back, his gaze slowly locking onto the elegant small villa’s second-floor floor-to-ceiling window.
A trace of subtle and unfamiliar pheromones entered the bearded man’s perception, from that intangible and slightly chaotic dispersed information, he deciphered certain content.
“Two blood thralls? They’re actually hiding in the Yang Ping family’s house? Interesting…”
The bearded man lit a cigarette, took a deep breath, and spat again before turning around and getting back into the car to leave.
In the small villa’s living room, Xia Yan’s expression was slightly serious, while Gu Yao, behind her, had already drawn a dagger and squatted at the corner between the living room and the staircase, looking tense.
For some unknown reason, Xia Yan seemed to sense a strange wave emanating from Gu Yao not far behind her, impacting her cognitive perception.
Like invisible waves, rising and falling, disordered and chaotic, with a touch of brutality. As this strange aura spread throughout the living room, Gu Yao’s eyes seemed to take on a faint red glow.
At that moment, Xia Yan also felt her body temperature starting to rise unusually.
“Gu Yao, relax!”
Xia Yan hurriedly went to Gu Yao’s side, crouched down, grasped his shoulders with both hands, and lowered her voice.
In her understanding, the overflow of pheromones due to a vampire’s boiling blood state would be dozens of times more than in a normal state! The lower the level of the vampire, the harder it was to control the release of their own pheromones.

Wiping the sweat from the back of his neck, he brought his fingers to his nose, detecting a light, strange fragrance. Xia Yan’s brow slowly furrowed.

Gu Yao hurriedly nodded and mimicked Xia Yan, wiping the scented sweat from the back of his neck and bringing his fingers to his nose. “Wait, it doesn’t seem to be something my nose can detect.”
The two new vampires, after a brief episode, both adopted a silent mode.
