Chapter 111: Duel
“206, 206, 206…”
Elrose wandered the corridor for a long time before finally finding Room 206. Peering through the window, she saw Lilith following along with a video tutorial, continuously swinging a light purple longsword. She was panting heavily, her back completely soaked with sweat, yet there was no sign that she intended to take a break.
“What a hard worker,” Elrose chuckled helplessly and then picked up a wooden box, preparing to enter through a side door.
But just as Elrose turned around,
“Bang!”
“Ah!”
Elrose felt as if she had run into a steel plate, letting out a cry as she suddenly fell to the ground.
“Can’t you watch where you’re going?” a cold voice floated over.
Elrose looked up and saw a tall woman in silver light armor with golden hair and blue eyes, cradling her ample bosom and looking at her with an expression of dissatisfaction.
Elrose rubbed her head, a slight pain registering, clearly from bumping into the woman’s armor. Anger instantly flared up.
“You’re the one who can’t see! Your whole family can’t see!” Elrose pouted and retorted angrily.
“Oh, it seems like you’re still quite unconvinced,” Elbira said coldly. “It’s obviously you who bumped into me, so why are you acting so arrogant?”
“What’s it to you if I bumped into you?” Elrose replied. “If an apology can solve it, why are you cursing me out first? Didn’t your dad teach you to speak properly?”
Elbira paused for a moment and then said earnestly, “It seems he really didn’t teach me.” At this point, Elbira suddenly sneered twice, looking at Elrose with malice: “According to what he taught me, if you can use your fists, then don’t waste your breath. I should just hit you without saying a word.”
“Hah?” Facing Elbira’s threat, Elrose showed no fear. Isn’t this how young people are nowadays? It seems she hasn’t been through society’s harsh lessons yet. Fine, then let her uncle teach her a lesson. With that thought, Elrose curled her lip and coldly watched Elbira, mana surging throughout her body.
Mana surging? Surging? Damn it, I’m out of mana. Elrose’s eyes widened as she suddenly remembered that since the last transformation ended, she hadn’t gone to Luna to replenish her mana. Just as Elrose was at a loss for what to do, a familiar voice came from the doorway.
“Elrose?” Lilith stood at the entrance of the training room, looking over with some confusion. “What are you doing over there?”
Elrose, as if seeing a savior, hurriedly grabbed the wooden box and hid beside Lilith, then pointed at Elbira and said, “Lilith, she’s bullying me.”
Upon hearing this, the protective instincts of the eldest sister surged forth. Lilith looked at Elbira and questioned in a cold tone, “Are you bullying her?”
But Elbira didn’t answer Lilith’s question, only staring at her with a fixed gaze, as if assessing her.
“Hey, I’m talking to you,” Lilith said with a slightly raised voice.
“Oh.” Hearing Lilith’s words, Elbira snapped back to attention. “What did you just say?”
“I said, are you bullying her?”
“Bully?” Elbira looked at Elrose beside Lilith and couldn’t help but be taken aback.
To be honest, she had just been playing around, wanting to scare the cute little girl a bit, but it seemed she had gone too far.
Well… maybe this isn’t so bad after all.
Elbira’s eyes sparkled.
“So you’re Lilith, huh? What a coincidence, Town Mayor Cedric has been bragging about your strength, and today I’ll see what you’re really made of. ”
Elbira grinned, “Yeah, what about it? Do you want to stand up for her?”
As she spoke, a silver flash appeared, and a silver longsword suddenly manifested in Elbira’s hand. “Since we’re both swordsmen, let’s speak with our swords.”
“Sounds good.”
Lilith swung the longsword in her hand, sneering, “I’ve been swinging at air all day, finally a real person to chop.”
Lilith and Elbira stood facing each other, their eyes sharp as they locked onto one another.
“Lilith Chaipesi.” Lilith’s battle qi surged, declaring her name with an imposing presence.
Elbira smiled slightly, holding her longsword elegantly, “Miss Lilith, I believe you’ve heard my name; I am Elbira Griffin, nice to meet you.”
“Elbira Griffin.” Lilith chewed on the name and then suddenly snapped back to reality, “You’re the one trying to steal my spot, you bastard?”
“Miss Lilith, I’m competing based on merit; it can’t be called stealing,” Elbira replied lazily.
When enemies meet, their eyes turn red. Lilith’s anger flared as she retorted, “Damn it, do you have any idea how much Kendrick has sacrificed for that spot? He nearly lost his life.”
“Isn’t it just finding a secret treasure in a dungeon to turn in to the Adventurer’s Guild?” Elbira said nonchalantly. “That level of treasure, we have plenty in the Lionheart Mountain; you think your dad struggled just because he’s too weak?”
“Boom!”
This statement struck Lilith like a sore spot; her battle qi erupted instantly.
“Take back what you just said.” Lilith’s eyes glowed with a red light, her perfectly round pupils hinting at a transformation into slitted irises.
Elbira, however, remained indifferent, smiling coldly; she wanted to provoke Lilith into getting angry so she would show her full strength.
Elbira waved her longsword, assuming a stance, ready for action: “I’ll say it again, since we’re both swordsmen, let’s use our swords to talk, half-demon.”
Whoosh!
Smash!
Two figures, one red and one silver, carried their battle qi, slicing through the air, and instantly collided. The clashing swords emitted brilliant sparks.
Lilith’s eyes focused, her muscles tensing with sudden force.
Ha!
An overwhelming surge of power came crashing in; Elbira was taken aback, retreating several steps.
“Damn, what the hell is with this ridiculous speed and strength? I feel like her physical quality is already at a high level.” Elbira thought in disbelief.
Seeing this, Lilith couldn’t help but sneer, “The Sword Saint’s child doesn’t seem so impressive after all?”
“Is that so?” Elbira, undeterred, replied calmly, “Unfortunately, I studied swordsmanship at the Sword Mountain, not brute strength. Someone like you is just swinging wildly, relying on brute force; that doesn’t count as any real skill.”
“Tch, what do you know! I call this ‘strength brings miracles.'” As Lilith’s eyes flashed with red light, she grasped her longsword and charged at Elbira once more.
Having learned from the earlier experience, Elbira understood that her strength was absolutely inferior to Lilith’s. Her advantage lay in swordsmanship, so she absolutely could not face Lilith head-on.
