Chapter 241: The Three of Us [5/20]
Since classes usually started at 8:20, Wen Yang was already used to waking up early.
He woke up at 7:30.
Yawning, he habitually glanced at the empty bed across from him but didn’t see the enchanting figure that haunted his dreams.
Looking around the dorm, Zhang Shaoqing was still sleeping in his bed, while Wang Jie was already awake, sitting on the edge of his bed playing on his phone.
Only then did he pick up his phone to check if Ning Chu had sent him a message while he was sleeping.
There really was…
“Bad news?”
Wen Yang froze for a moment, feeling a bit anxious. He quickly rolled out of bed and urgently began to get dressed.
Not bothering to wash up, he put on his shoes and got ready to leave.
“Out so early?” Wang Jie asked, peeking over from his bed.
“Got an urgent matter.”
“Ning Chu’s side?”
Even Wang Jie, no matter how slow, realized Wen Yang had a strong connection with Ning Chu.
“Something like that, I’m off.”
Before leaving, Wen Yang took a quick look in the dorm mirror. Seeing no major issues with his appearance, he hurriedly left the dorm.
By the time he arrived at Ning Chu’s rental apartment, it was already 8:30.
He carried several bags of breakfast and his mind was swirling with confusion.
His initial urgency faded a bit because not only did Ning Chu mention bad news, but she specifically asked him to bring breakfast for three.
Three?
He felt a moment of unease as he pulled the key from his pocket and opened the front door.
As the door swung open, he immediately looked inside and was frozen in place.
Ning Chu was peacefully lounging against the headboard playing on her phone while beside her, a girl with black cat ears was curiously peering at the phone screen.
Looking at the atmosphere… should he call them sisters or mother and daughter?
“Wen Yang, you’re here?” Ning Chu looked up at the stunned Wen Yang standing at the door. “What are you dazing for? Come in, I’m starving!”
“Starving!”
“…”
Wen Yang twitched his mouth, momentarily unable to respond.
The bad news Ning Chu mentioned was this little cat girl?
He pushed through the cat-shaped door and stepped inside, asking, “Is she… a relative here to play with you?”
A succubus having a cat girl relative… it’s not unreasonable.
“Nope.”
Hei Dou looked at Wen Yang with innocent eyes: “I’m mom’s daughter!”
“!!!”
Wen Yang’s body stiffened, his brain went blank.
Wait! Ning Chu is only eighteen, right? How does she have a daughter who looks around ten?!
“Stop talking nonsense, I told you to call me sister!” Ning Chu pressed down on Hei Dou’s little head, sighing as she explained to Wen Yang, “This is Hei Dou. She turned into a cat girl when she woke up…”
“???”
This news, while shocking, was still more bearable than the idea of Ning Chu being a mother at eight or nine years old.
Wen Yang didn’t know how to react.
“A bit ludicrous…”
“It’s definitely ludicrous~”
Hei Dou completely missed the strange atmosphere and jumped off the bed, running to Wen Yang, eagerly gazing at the breakfast bags he was carrying.
“Dad~ I’m hungry!”
“You what?!”
“Dad! You’re mom’s boyfriend!”
“Gah~” Wen Yang felt his scalp tingle. He hadn’t done anything with Ning Chu! Kissing doesn’t make kids!
Now he understood why Ning Chu always had that helpless look on her face. Stiffly, he set the breakfast on the table, helping to open the boxes and unpack the utensils.
Seeing Hei Dou grab a spoon and start eating breakfast, Wen Yang’s head hurt even more.
“If she’s Hei Dou, how can she talk?”
“How would I know…”
After all, that’s how it’s set in stories. At that time, he was just thinking about convenience, who cares about logic?
Wen Yang sat on the edge of the bed, looking at Hei Dou’s back as she devoured her food, incredulously muttering, “Is she really Hei Dou?”
“Mmhm, really.”
“I feel like Hei Dou snuck out at night, and you caught a cat girl thief… makes more sense.”
If that were the case, the cat girl wouldn’t be sprawled on Ning Chu, nor would she say things like “Mom used to be Dad.”
Ning Chu, looking troubled, leaned her head on Wen Yang’s arm, sighing, “Quit overthinking it, she’s really Hei Dou.”
“Never heard of this kind of thing before…”
“Maybe the first case of a human-like daughter came about this way?”
If it could be explained like that, it was surprisingly reasonable?
Wen Yang had a confounded expression as he thought about it and then asked Hei Dou, “Why do you call her… Mom?”
“When I was about to starve, it was mom and you who brought me back~”
“Not entirely wrong…”
He rubbed his nose, looking down at the hopelessly forlorn Ning Chu resting against his arm.
Seeing Ning Chu in a bad mood, he teased, “Cheer up, you’re a mom now.”
“…”
After a moment of silence, Ning Chu looked up at Wen Yang: “So what do we do now? Do we raise her?”
“Well, we have to raise her, I guess?”
But having a little girl around means Wen Yang won’t be able to…
Wait, that’s not the point!
After a pause, she decisively threw the responsibility: “How about this? I’ll call my mom and ask her if she minds… giving me a little sister.”
“Sounds good?”
But the question arose: how to explain Hei Dou’s origin to her mother?
Ning Chu rubbed her protesting stomach and stood up from the bed, walking over to Hei Dou.
She picked up a portion of breakfast, looking down at Hei Dou, who had turned into a messy cat from eating, making a loud purring noise from deep within her throat, obviously in a great mood.
Well, she’s just a little kitty; what could possibly bother her?
Ning Chu pat Hei Dou’s little head, but Hei Dou looked up with big, pleading eyes and asked, “Mom, can we eat meat for lunch?”
“Call me sister… if you want to eat meat, sure.”
If they were to go to the cafeteria for lunch, a meat dish isn’t that expensive. For Hei Dou’s build, two servings would be enough.
But compared to a pound of cat food costing around 30, the expenses would skyrocket.
As Ning Chu pondered the upcoming costs, she pulled out a napkin and wiped the soup off Hei Dou’s mouth, gently reminding her, “Be careful when you eat, don’t get food everywhere.”
“Meow!”
Wen Yang watched her tenderly wiping Hei Dou’s face, feeling an inexplicable wave of maternal love from her…
With Ning Chu’s nosy nature, she probably couldn’t let go of Hei Dou, who had turned into a cat girl.
“I’m off to deliver takeout,” Wen Yang stood up, moving behind Hei Dou and standing next to Ning Chu, teasingly said, “If I don’t work hard to earn money, I won’t be able to support you two.”
“Stop kidding around.”
“Well, I’m leaving then?”
“It’s raining, so be careful.”
“Yeah.”
“Dad, be careful!”
Wen Yang truly felt a weird sense of being part of a family of three.
